Chapter 85 Chapter 85

Chapter 85 Chapter 85
Vamica’s POV

Ethan locked all the doors of the car, fear flashing across his eyes as the wolves kept hitting the car. “I should call animal control” Ethan let out, fumbling with his phone.

“You shouldn’t call anyone, they could get injured” I muttered the last part underneath my breath, my eyes going wide as one pounced on the wind shield of the car.

It snarled at us, its eyes flashing towards Ethan before it smashed a paw against the glass. I picked my phone, I had no other choice but to call the one person who could handle it.

Before I could dial his number, the wolf went flying. He was here. Though I was happy we had been saved, he would discover I stayed with Ethan.

“Come on, Vamica. Let’s go while they are distracted” Ethan urged me, his hand pushing the door to his side before I could protest.

I stepped out of the car, Ethan’s hand grasping mine when I caught the sight of Knight fighting the wolves.

One swiped a paw at him then, his biceps blooming with red. “I-I can’t just leave him here like this” I mumbled out, something in me telling me to stay.

“Oh my God” Ethan exclaimed, his hand dropping mine. The shock in his tone had me looking toward where his attention was fixed on.

Knight had flung a wolf away, his hand shifting into a claw. My lips parted with shock; that was the first time I was seeing him doing something like that.

“We need to leave right now” Ethan whispered, his gaze switching between Knight and the wolves he fought.

“Can’t you see he isn’t normal? What if he attacks us too?” Ethan asked when I remained silent. Just then Knight crushed the neck of one wolf, the thud of its body hitting the floor prominent despite the chaos that was happening.

Without asking me, Ethan pulled me away. He walked briskly along the dark road, his eyes going this way and that way wearily.

“Wait, we can’t just leave him there surrounded with those things!” I cried out, pressing my heel into the tarred road.

“It seems to me he is one of them, didn’t you see how he killed that wolf?” He questioned, not stopping. That had me falling quiet, Knight’s brutal saving coming to mind.

As we got to the little opening that led to Ethan’s house he stopped. “Maybe we shouldn’t go to work tomorrow” He suggested as he turned to face me.

“Why should we do that?” I question, my eye brows snapping into a frown.

“What if he decides to get rid of us for seeing him attack those wolves like that?” He asked in response. I jerked back in shock at is question.

The way it rang an echo of what his father had done to my parents made me consider it for a minute. “He wouldn’t do that” I shot at him confidently.

Despite all his shortcomings, I knew for sure Knight wouldn’t do that to me. Considering how we had spent the morning today.

Ethan turned, continuing the short walk to his house. I followed behind him, watching has his hands balled into fists.

I was about to walk into the spare room when he spoke up. “For all you don’t like making the news you sure like him and defend him no matter what”

I stayed stuck to a spot as he shut the door to his room. His words made me feel guilt and at the same time angry.

Me having a sort of relationship with Knight didn’t give anyone the right to post such a thing about me. It wasn’t a matter of how I liked him or not.

I opened the door to the spare room, slamming the door shut behind me. I thought back to the file I found.

Ethan was right to some extent; I shouldn’t defend him or trying to stay with him. Not after all I had discovered.

“He had said it looked falsified, it might be a mistake” I thought out loud. Surely my parents’ names weren’t all that unique.

I sat on the bed, dropping my glasses on the bed. I searched through my bag for my phone when my hand contacted a smooth object within it.

I grasped it within my palm, bring it out of the bag. It was the stone the witch had given me. It felt as if my encounter with the witch happened in another life not today.

I slipped it underneath my pillow, hoping it showed me what I needed to clear up this whole issue. I stripped out of my clothes.

I freshened up as fast as I could, my stomach rumbling as I dried my hair. The thought of walking to the kitchen and meeting Ethan there was one I didn’t like.

I didn’t know how I would face him. His words had angered me so much. I was going to sleep hungry today, I decided as I laid on the bed.

A few minutes my stomach rumbled again. With a huff I scrambled out of bed. I opened the door slightly, poking my head out of the door to see if Etha was out of his room.

I heard nothing. I proceeded to leave the room. On getting to the kitchen, a figure hunched over the refrigerator had me freezing on the spot.

My hands shook as I flipped on the light switch on the wall. I let out a sigh of relief, it was Ethan. My mind had run through different scenarios.

“What are you…doing?” I asked, walking closer to where he stood. He straightened; his mouth stuffed with bread.

A snicker escaped me before I could stop it. “I am sorry for what I said…earlier” He apologized as he placed a plate of scrambled eggs and bread in front of me.

I watched as he settled into the chair before me, avoiding my gaze. “It’s okay, I forgive you” I mumbled as I dug into my food.

We ate in silence, the air between us cleared. “Good night, Vamica” he said to me, his body shifting closer to mine.

“Good night” I said hurriedly, slamming the door close as I entered into the room. I huffed out a sigh, wondering what he was about to do.

I laid down onto the bed, my eyes slipping close almost immediately.
