Chapter 86 Chapter 86

Chapter 86 Chapter 86
Vamica’s POV

“Ann, we have to get Vamica and my mother out of here” My father’s face flashed with fear as he and a woman…my mother sneaked out of a house.

The scene changed to one where I was running, my hand within a bigger palm. “Please don’t hurt her, let her go” A face lowered to mine then, the colour of his eyes seemed familiar.

The scene changed completely changed, my parents knelt down in the middle of a clearing. The sound of liquid hitting the ground had me shuddering a whimper falling from my lips.

The man who stood before my parents’ dead body swung his gaze to me, his gaze snapping to mine. He moved towards me, hands stretched to clutch at my neck when…

I woke up with a gasp, my heart pounding as my eyes scanning the area for the threat. I shifted on the bed, my shirt drenched in sweat.

I panted, my hands pushing me out of the bed. “How…what…?” It dawned on me then; I had just witnessed my parents get murdered.

I tried remembering what the person who had reached for me look like, something about his eyes coming to mind but I couldn’t recall for some reason.

I leaned against the head board of the bed, my eyes squint shut as breeze from the fan blew on my heated skin.

I pressed down on the power button of my phone to see what the time says. It was already morning, just not early enough to go to work.

The images from my dream had been clear but at the same time unclear. While I would like to conclude that Chairman Magnus was behind it, the fact that I didn’t see the man’s face was a loose end.

I shifted against the bed, shoving the duvet away from my body. I picked up my phone, slipping on my glasses to see the screen properly.

I poured through the files I had copied from the flash, looking for the important keys that pointed to Knight’s father has the perpetrator.

On reading it the second time, I discovered errors were made about the timing and documentation of the incident.

But the fact still stood that my parents names were mentioned and there had been Knight’s father signature in the file stating for them to be ‘removed’.

By the time I turned, it was already broad day light. I stood up, stretching slightly as I entered into the bathroom.

I showered with questions running through my mind. Just when I thought I had everything sorted, a curve ball was thrown my way.

I let out a sigh, stepping out of the bathroom. I shuffled through my bag, looking for a suitable outfit to wear.

“What is going on?” I questioned as I stepped out of the room, the area filled with the aroma of sizzling meat on fire.

“An apology breakfast” Ethan let out, flipping the frying meat in the pan. My stomach rumbled with hunger as I settled into the chair before him.

“You don’t need to…” I mumbled out, my tongue licking at my lips at the image of the dish he served before me.

“I have to. Are you fine?” He asked, settling into the chair before me. I paused at his question, the turmoil of my mind rushing back into my mind.

“I am good, thanks for asking” I replied him, my eyes dropping to my food. I dug into the meal before me, wiping at my lips once I was done.

We stepped out of the house, my gaze falling on his car. It carried a few scars from last night, making the memory of Knight fighting the werewolves pop into my head.

If he truly knew about what his father had done would he bother saving me from the rogues? I mumbled a quiet thank you to Ethan.

I could feel his eyes lingering on my face at times, his hand tightening on the wheel of his car. “Do you have something to say?” I probed, turning to look at him.

“Did you talk to Knight about the transfer?” He asked, his gaze swung to the road as he turned to the street leading to the firm.

I bit my lips, clearing my throat before I replied him. “I have spoken to him about it already, I am just…waiting for him to approve it” I let out, looking out the window as I shifted my glasses further up my nose.

“Okay” He mumbled out in response, as if he already knew I wasn’t telling the whole truth. He pulled up in front of the firm, stepping out to help me opening my door.

I frowned at his gesture as my coworkers entering into the firm threw looks at the both of us. “What are you doing Ethan?” I questioned, whispering to him as I stepped out of the car.

“Helping someone I care about out of the car” He stated simply, his words making my lips part softly. With the way things were going with Ethan, I would have to get over my trauma of staying alone and get back to my house.

I could only handle so much with the ticking bomb in my chest. As we stepped into the firm’s building, I walked quickly into the elevator, ignoring the way Ethan’s eyes lingered on me.

I let out a sigh, my body slumping slightly into the elevator wall when the elevator door was stopped from closing.

I straightened from my slouched position, my eyes scanning their attire from head to toe. They didn’t look like they worked in the firm.

I waited for the elevator door to ping open before I walked out, the air around the men feeling uneasy for some reason.

I pushed the door to the office open, my eyes snagging on Knight immediately. The faint lines of exhaustion making guilt flood through me.

Before I could offer him, my thanks there was a knock on the door. “There she is” one of the board members gestured to me, anger apparent on his face.

“Miss Vamica Hales, you are under arrest for defamation and the breakage of a non-disclosure contract”
