Chapter 179: Not Concerned About Winning or Losing
Chapter 179: Not Concerned About Winning or Losing
Faced with his subordinate's inquiry, Laurent let out a cold laugh.
"Doesn't matter. Whether they can take out Jaxon or not—I couldn't care less. All I need is for them to buy us enough time."
"Prime is almost complete. As long as nothing goes wrong during this period, that's all that matters. And if they die? Even better. Saves us a lot of trouble when we take over Frostkeep."
At those words, the subordinate immediately understood.
"I see. Your foresight is impeccable, sir."
"Send someone to keep tabs on them. Once Jaxon's dead, bring back his body."
"Yes, sir!"
After Michael and Gabriel left the estate, they began their operation.
For them, there was only one thing to do now: eliminate Jaxon and seize Audrey's territory.
So they didn't bother with any roundabout tactics. They headed straight for Audrey's turf.
At the same time they set out, Jaxon received word of their approach.
Jaxon had just stepped out of the hospital when Nightshade hurried over.
"General Storm, we just got intel. Gabriel and Michael have begun their operation. They're currently en route."
Hearing this, Jaxon nodded, a flash of contempt crossing his eyes.
"If they're coming, then I'll play along. Might as well let them see the truth for themselves."
From the start, Jaxon had known these two would come. He just hadn't expected them to move this fast.
But he wasn't worried. He wanted to see how they'd react once they learned the truth.
Soon, he returned to the villa.
He'd barely stopped when the urgent sound of approaching vehicles echoed outside.
At the noise, Jaxon rose to his feet.
Noticing the figures outside, he walked out unhurriedly. Gabriel and Michael leaped from their vehicles, their gazes locking onto him immediately.
Their eyes were sharp as they sized him up, demanding coldly, "You're Jaxon?"
Meeting their stares, Jaxon didn't deny it. He nodded with a smile.
"That's right. I am."
At his confirmation, Michael's face darkened as he spoke.
"So it's you. You've got some nerve, causing trouble in Frostkeep and killing one of its generals. Today, we're making you pay!"
"Jaxon, we're not unreasonable people. If you surrender now, we'll give you a quick death. Otherwise, don't blame us for showing no mercy."
Hearing their cold threats, Jaxon sighed.
"You two must be mistaken. I didn't kill Daniel."
At those words, both men let out scornful laughs.
"Impossible. The intel we received is rock solid. Daniel was killed by you. And now you think you can lie your way out of this?"
"Why waste our breath? Let's just take him out. I don't have time to stand around here!"
Michael's face hardened, killing intent surging in his eyes.
Gabriel wasn't interested in being polite either. He instantly shifted into an attack stance.
Just as the two were about to strike, Jaxon spoke up.
"Hold on. I have something to say."
"If you've got any last words, make it quick."
Jaxon didn't waste time. He pulled out a recording—the phone conversation between him and Laurent.
As the audio played, Gabriel and Michael's expressions darkened.
"Laurent?"
"Exactly. Since you two recognize the voice, I won't hide it from you."
"Everything he's done is to use you as pawns to eliminate his rivals."
"And Daniel isn't dead. He's currently in the hospital. If you don't believe me, feel free to send someone to verify whether I'm telling the truth or not."
Jaxon's expression was resolute. Gabriel and Michael fell into thought.
After exchanging a glance, they let out cold laughs.
"You're pretty clever, I'll give you that. Using Daniel's faked death to fool Laurent."
"But did you ever consider one thing? Whether Daniel's dead or alive has nothing to do with us dealing with you. In fact, we'd have preferred if you'd actually killed him!"
At those words, Jaxon's face turned cold.
"What are you saying? You're both generals. Are you really willing to let Laurent use you like this?"
"We are generals in Frostkeep, sure, but that doesn't mean we're being used. If Daniel died, his territory would be up for grabs, and we could split it between us."
"And by killing you, we not only gain a good reputation but also take his territory without any questions asked. But you just had to go and complicate things by leaving him alive. Now we'll have to waste even more effort!"
Hearing this, Jaxon understood their true intentions.
He'd thought these two were merely being manipulated by Laurent. Turns out, they were just looking for an excuse to make their move.
Jaxon stared coldly at them, a frigid gleam in his eyes. "So, you're determined to kill me today."
"Cut the chatter. Today, it's not just your life we're taking—Daniel's got to die too!"
Hearing that, Jaxon let out a contemptuous laugh.
"You want to kill me? The two of you aren't enough."
"Gentlemen, I don't have time to waste on you. If you know what's good for you, get lost now. Otherwise, I will make sure you die here!"
Jaxon offered a warning, but Gabriel and Michael only laughed scornfully.
"Who the hell do you think you are, talking big to the two of us?"
"Since you're so eager to die, we'll grant your wish. Let you see what happens when you cross us!"
Both Gabriel and Michael were powerhouses beyond the Omega level. Their speed was no joke—they appeared before Jaxon in an instant.
The two swung their fists simultaneously, aiming straight for him.
Their speed was astonishing, yet Jaxon stood perfectly still, his expression calm. Just as they were about to make contact, he launched two punches of his own, sending them both flying.
Michael and Gabriel were thrown back over thirty feet, slamming hard into the ground.
After steadying themselves, their faces were grim, their arms trembling uncontrollably.
"Damn it, how is this guy so strong?!"
Seeing their disheveled state, Jaxon let out a cold laugh.
"Is that all you've got?"
Faced with his mocking words, the two gritted their teeth, fury blazing in their eyes.
"You damn bastard! How dare you act so arrogant in front of us? Today, we're taking you down for sure!"
"Think you're tough? Let's see just how much you've really got!"
The two exchanged a glance and charged at Jaxon once more.
Seeing them approach again, Jaxon showed no mercy.
"You asked for this!"
Jaxon's gaze turned icy. He held nothing back, rushing straight toward them.
Gabriel and Michael were confident in themselves. After all, when the two of them worked together, few could stand against them.
