A plan maybe?

A plan maybe?
Natalia

Things in our lives had changed over the last few weeks. Having changed Marcus back to himself, that had helped us find out nothing at all. The man had no memory of what had happened to him. Only that the coven had sent him to kill this person and it had been turned around on him. That and witches had to be involved because he had been cursed. The only thing he could recall was that the man had been cursed before he had been. So it was in the witches camp that we had to find out more information. When we had called and spoken to Draven's mother, we found out that they had records of everyone they had sent Marcus after. Trouble was, the records were in another castle on the other side of the continent. Why they would have them there was beyond my thinking.

We all had fallen into a rhythm of food, sleep and then planning. Edgar had been a huge help keeping an eye on the monster in the backyard. So far, it hadn't done anything to harm anyone. Lucian was still in a coma like state. We didn't know how long it would take for the curse to lift. Marcus was rather sure that it would lift in the next day or two. I wasn't so sure, but had to listen to him. He was the only one of us that could see the curse. How he could see it made me wonder. It had taken Marcus three days to heal the damage I had done. Raven was still laughing about it, but Marcus didn't think any of it was funny. He had learned to listen to others, however. If you are warned, someone is a badass, but they don't look it. Might be smart not to push your luck. Being stuck in the house was starting to drive me crazy. I liked being able to go out and see friends. I still had a company to run as well. That could be done at home, but I liked being able to use the larger kitchen at the lab house.

"I am going insane in this house." I told Draven one evening.

"We all are, but we can't take the risk of going out and having him get one of us. Your parents aren't happy either, being stuck at the house either." Draven had talked to them when I was in the shower.

"Something has to be done, we can't keep doing this." I sighed as I looked at him then to Lucien who was still laying by the window.

"I know, my love, we will find something out." Draven looked over at Lucien. "He is looking a bit better today."

He was right, the color in his skin was looking better. Lucien hadn't woken up, however, he just lay there. The sun was on him most of the day so we knew that the spell was being burned off. I was just thankful that he was a day walker like me. If not, he would have died the first day. We needed to get some information about this guy and fast. Trouble was, no one seemed to know who the hell he was. Where he had come from, either. I wondered if it was someone like Marcus that had vanished and everyone thought he had died.

"Draven, do you recall anyone else in your life that vanished without a word?" I asked, looked back toward him.

"A few, one a woman that vanished during a war with the werewolves. A man who vanished when the witches wanted to kill us all. Then another man who the stories say got put in a human prison. Pretty sure he died when the sun came up." Draven thought it over and sighed. "I believe at least three other men vanished, but I can't recall the stories on them."

"We need the names to see if Marcus can recall them." I figured it was worth a shot.

"He should know the names. Seeing as one of them is his brother. Another wasn't really blood relation, but he tried him like a son. The other three, I am not sure if he would recall them or not. Depends on the years, I would guess." Draven thought it over then sighed.

"His brother went missing? Did anyone try to find him?" I asked, but the answer didn't come from Draven.

"Patrick was my younger brother. He did in fact go missing, and we still to this day have no idea where he went. The night he vanished, the coven was meeting to punish him for attacking some witch. He didn't want to hear what the coven had to say so he left. We looked for him for years, finding nothing. Not even a pile of ash that would have told us he had burned in the sun. Wait, are you thinking that the person who cursed me was Patrick?" Marcus sat down on the chair across from me. "He was a vampire, not a witch."

"True, but a few of the witches that I have spoken to say that a certain curse can give the person the power to shift some of that power onto someone else. Mind you, it would take a lot out of the person. They would be drained almost to death if it was a vampire. Then cursed to live on that way. To never die or drink blood to bring your body back. So you could have found him, and he put part of his curse on you." I explained as best I could.

"That is just cruel." Marcus rubbed his chin for a moment. "It is possible, however."

"I agree, I shivered when the witch told me that. She also said that the witch that did this curse would be connected to him. Meaning, she could let him live or die. It was up to her, but if she died before the curse was lifted, he would be that way forever. Only death would being him back to his normal self. What good that would do at that moment, I don't know." I hoped that the witch hadn't died, but if his brother had been killing witches, I didn't blame them.

"We would have to find him first. I have no idea where he went. I do have a feeling that whoever it is might still be in the area." Marcus looked out the window then down to Lucien. "He is looking better at least."

"We need a way to get him to come to us." I mumbled because I really didn't want this man close to me.

"Live bait always works. Trouble is, he can curse any and all of us in that time." Edgar cawed to bring my attention to him.

"Maybe the witches could help with that?" I smiled at the thought, but it worried me as well. "Not sure if the witches in our coven are strong enough."

"If this curse has been going on for that long, it would mean he is very weak and would only be able to harm one person." Draven declared smiling.
