Chapter 175 Silently Guarding

Chapter 175 Silently Guarding

As she spoke, she raised her hand and swung it toward Ella's face.

But before her hand could land, a strong hand grabbed her wrist.

"What do you think you're doing? This is a hospital, not a place for you to act crazy."

It was Jason. He had arrived just in time to stop Margaret's wild behavior.

Ella hadn't even thought about dodging. After all, Austin really did get hit by that car trying to save her.

Even if Margaret hit her to vent her anger, Ella would accept it.

"Who the hell are you? How dare you stop me? I'm going to hit this bitch for what she did to my son," Margaret roared furiously.

"What are you all doing? This is a hospital. Stop making noise. If you keep this up, everyone out," a nurse walked over, scolding them with a stern face.

Margaret immediately shut her mouth and hurried over to ask.

"My son is being treated in there. How is he now?"

The nurse glanced at Margaret and said calmly.

"He's still in emergency treatment. Austin's ribs are broken and have injured his lungs. The doctor is operating now. Please keep quiet!"

When Margaret heard this, she was scared out of her wits and asked anxiously.

"Will Austin die? Please, you must save him. I don't care how much it costs. Use the best doctors."

"Don't worry, the surgeon is our best doctor here. We'll do everything we can to save Austin, but he's badly injured. You should be mentally prepared."

Hearing that she needed to be mentally prepared, Margaret seemed to deflate like a balloon. Her whole body went limp, and she almost fainted.

The driver and bodyguard quickly helped her sit down in a chair. She stared blankly ahead, tears streaming down her face.

Seeing Margaret like this, Ella actually used to hate Margaret quite a bit. She had been bullied by Margaret plenty over the years.

But at this moment, Margaret was just a mother who might lose her son. Ella really couldn't hate her anymore.

If Austin hadn't risked his life to save her, it would have been Ella lying in that pool of blood.

Maybe people can only let things go when facing life and death. In the face of death, no matter what pain or hardship you've experienced before, it's nothing.

Jason sat down next to Ella, took off his jacket, and draped it over her shoulders.

"Ella, don't worry. Austin is so strong, he'll definitely pull through."

"Jason, I'm troubling you again."

"Ella, don't say that. I'm glad you thought of me," Jason patted Ella's shoulder comfortingly.

The hours dragged by. Ella felt like she had been waiting outside the emergency room for such a long, long time.

Finally, after several hours, the operating room light suddenly went out.

Ella jumped to her feet, but felt everything go dark before her eyes. She almost stumbled and fell, but luckily, Jason was quick to catch her.

"Don't rush, I've got you!"

Jason helped Ella walk over. A doctor came out of the emergency room, removed his mask, and wiped the sweat from his forehead.

"Doctor, how is Austin now?" Ella asked urgently.

"Doctor, how is my son?" Margaret also stumbled over to ask.

"Austin's lung was punctured by his broken ribs. We had to remove part of his lung. His head also suffered severe trauma, and he has multiple fractures throughout his body. He's out of danger for now and will be moved to the ICU for observation soon."

"Doctor, is Austin going to die?" Margaret asked, her voice trembling.

"I'm sorry, that depends on how he recovers. If there's no infection or other symptoms within three days after surgery, he should be fine."

Ella let out a long breath. At least Austin was still alive.

Austin was someone who was competitive and never gave up until he reached his goal.

She believed he would pull through. He wouldn't die so easily.

Just then, the police also arrived at the hospital to ask about the situation.

Ella really didn't want to say anything right now. She wasn't in the mood at all. Seeing what Ella was thinking, Jason stood up and went to deal with them.

"I'm sorry, Ella has suffered a great mental shock. When she's recovered a bit, I'll notify you to come take her statement."

"Alright, we just want to understand the situation with this case. We've already arrested the perpetrator."

Hearing the officer say this, Jason asked curiously.

"Who is it?"

"The perpetrator's name is Judith. She passed out in the vehicle and was arrested on the spot when our police arrived."

"We just want to know if this was an accident or...?"

"Definitely not an accident. This was murder for sure!" Jason said firmly.

After speaking, Jason felt something was off and quickly explained.

"Judith and Ella have had a lot of bad blood before. For the details, I'll notify you when Ella's emotions have settled down."

Seeing Ella's current condition, the officer couldn't bear to disturb her further and could only nod in agreement.

Jason saw them off, and when he came back, he found Ella sitting outside the ICU room, looking sadly through the glass window at Austin inside.

"Ella, let me take you home to rest. You heard what the doctor said - Austin will be in the ICU for the next few days."

"You can't go in, and you can't help. You might as well let me take you home to rest."

Hearing Jason's advice, Ella just shook her head, her eyes never leaving Austin lying on the hospital bed.

"Thank you, Jason, but I'm not going back. I'm staying here to watch over him."

"Ella, I know you're worried about Austin, but your body will break down, too. The injury on your leg hasn't been treated yet. Let me take you to get your leg treated first."

"It's fine. This little injury doesn't need treatment," Ella said stubbornly.

"How can that be okay? Even if you want to take care of Austin, you need to take care of your own body! If your body breaks down, how will you take care of him?" Jason said, somewhat angrily.

He was mainly worried about Ella. Even in this situation, Ella still didn't know how to take care of herself.

Ella turned to look at Jason and said weakly.

"Jason, you know what? I thought I was going to die today. I didn't expect Austin to rush over and push me away."

"Otherwise, I'd be the one lying in there!"

Jason had never dared to ask what exactly happened at the time since arriving here.

Hearing Ella say this, Jason understood why Ella refused to leave, no matter what.

Jason could only silently turn and leave. After a while, he came back carrying several bags of things.
