Chapter 162 New Clues
Chapter 162 New Clues
"You did the right thing. Men like him are just cheap. When you were obedient and caring towards him, how did he treat you?"
"Ella, don't let his sweet talk move you again. You should let him taste what it feels like to be ignored."
"I know, Sarah. Austin and I are over."
"But then again, Austin did help me this time by finding some clues."
"Don't let that move you. Just think of it as what he owes you." Sarah was afraid Ella would change her mind again.
"I understand. By the way, about Carol - the thing I asked you to look into a few days ago, any leads?"
"Let me ask around for you. I've been so busy these past few days I forgot."
Sarah picked up her phone and made a call. Her face suddenly became serious as she spoke to the person on the other end.
"Send me all the evidence you have. Thanks for this. I won't let you help for nothing."
Sarah ended the call and looked at Ella with a serious expression.
"My friend did find some clues. A couple of years ago, the police caught a gang that trafficked women and children."
"One of the criminals confessed to a trafficking case that matches the time when you were taken."
Ella's heart raced with excitement as she asked.
"Can I go see that criminal? If I see his face, I'll recognize him."
"I remember it was a man and a woman who took me."
"Hold on, Ella. My friend said the files will be sent over soon."
Just as Sarah finished speaking, her phone notification sounded.
Sarah quickly unlocked her phone and received several unread files.
She handed the phone to Ella.
"Take a look. Are these files useful to you?"
Ella looked down at the phone and saw information about two people, but the photos were blurry and hard to see clearly.
After all these years, it was hard to tell just from the photos.
"I can't see clearly. It would be best to see them in person. Even after all these years, I believe I could recognize them."
"It says here where they're being held. I want to leave the hospital now. I need to see them."
"They're prisoners. If you want to see them out of the blue, it'll be difficult. Let's check if there's information about the officers on the case in the other files. We should contact them first." Sarah reminded her.
"You're right."
Ella carefully read through all the files. The information was quite detailed.
She had made up her mind to get to the bottom of this. Now that there were clues, she couldn't let this go.
"Ella, don't rush. Those people can't run away - they're already in prison. When you're better, I'll go with you."
"When the doctor comes to check on me, I'll ask. I want to leave the hospital as soon as possible."
"Ella, why are you in such a hurry to leave again? You have a mild concussion. The doctor said you need to stay for observation."
Just then, the door opened, and Jason walked in carrying breakfast. He heard what Ella said and immediately objected.
"Jason, I'm really fine. I'm much better now. I don't want to stay in this hospital. I finally found a lead, and I need to find out the truth about what happened back then."
"Ella, what happened?"
Jason asked, confused. He only heard Ella say she wanted to leave the hospital, but didn't know why.
Ella briefly explained what happened years ago. Jason was angry after hearing this.
"Your stepmother is truly evil. You were so young back then. How could she be so heartless to have you trafficked?"
"I only suspected before and wasn't sure. Now I finally found some clues. I want to meet those two traffickers."
"Ella, I understand how you feel, but you're not ready to leave the hospital yet. When you're better, I'll go with you."
Sarah nodded in agreement.
"Ella, just listen to us. Besides, we're still waiting for news from the police."
Hearing Sarah say this, Jason suddenly remembered and quickly asked Ella.
"By the way, I just called the police and found out someone broke into your room again last night."
Sarah immediately lowered her head in shame and said quietly.
"Jason, I'm sorry. It's my fault. I didn't take good care of Ella."
"It's not Sarah's fault. Those people are everywhere. I never thought someone would dare try to kill me in the hospital." Ella sighed.
"The police lab results came back. That person really was trying to kill you. They said it was a drug that can cause cardiac arrest very quickly."
"That's terrifying. If Ella hadn't noticed in time, I don't even want to think about it." Sarah's face turned pale at the thought.
"What else did the police say?" Ella asked.
"They've assigned people to investigate. They're checking everything and said they'll solve the case as soon as possible."
"We can only leave this to the police. Just be more careful from now on." Ella said calmly.
"Sarah, go home and rest after breakfast. I'll stay here with Ella. I've already taken care of things at the company."
"Ella, I bought your favorite sandwich and oatmeal. You must be hungry, right?"
Jason finally remembered the breakfast he was carrying. He put it on the table nearby and asked with a smile.
"Jason, I'm not leaving. I'll take care of Ella. When I go to work tomorrow, you can come take over." Sarah insisted.
"Jason, Sarah can take care of me. Let's ask the doctor later. If possible, I want to go home."
Jason couldn't argue with Ella and could only shake his head helplessly.
"You're still so stubborn. Let's ask the doctor later. If the doctor says no, you can't leave the hospital."
"I know, Jason!"
The three of them sat down to eat breakfast, then the doctor came to check on her.
The doctor examined Ella and asked her to get a brain CT scan. If there were no major problems, she could leave tomorrow.
With Jason and Sarah accompanying her, Ella went to wait in line for the test.
The results showed Ella only had a mild concussion with no blood clots in her head.
Ella was in a great mood and said to them with a smile.
"You two, stop looking so worried. I can leave the hospital tomorrow."
"You! Can you still smile at a time like this? If I were you, I'd be scared to death." Sarah shook her head helplessly.
