Chapter 163 The Murderer is Wanted
Chapter 163 The Murderer is Wanted
Jason also felt that Ella had always been a very strong and optimistic woman. Even after going through so many setbacks, she could still face things with a positive attitude.
Perhaps because Austin had given them a heads-up, the police quickly sent over some news.
After the attempted poisoning of Ella, hospitals across the city had admitted more than a dozen people with head injuries.
After checking them one by one, they finally identified a suspect named Isaac Reynolds, a forty-five-year-old man with a criminal record.
Based on the suspect's information, the police quickly went to his home.
But the place was already empty. Isaac had divorced a few years ago and had been living alone.
The police immediately launched an investigation. According to surveillance footage from Isaac's apartment complex, Isaac had left with a suitcase before dawn.
Following the trail, they found that the car Isaac was driving was the same one Austin's bodyguard had photographed. Although the license plate had been changed, after analysis, it appeared to be the same vehicle.
After tracking him down, they confirmed that Isaac had fled to escape punishment and had already left the city. His whereabouts were unknown.
Later, in an abandoned junkyard in the suburbs, dozens of miles from the city, they found the abandoned, scrapped car.
The trail went cold, but at least now they knew the suspect's true identity, and the police began issuing a warrant for his arrest.
By the time Ella learned this information, it was already two days later. Ella was successfully discharged from the hospital and returned home with Jason.
When Briar saw the gauze wrapped around Ella's forehead, tears immediately welled up in her eyes as she asked in a trembling voice.
"Ella, what happened to you? How did you hurt your head?"
"Briar, please don't cry. I just got a minor injury. I didn't tell you because I was afraid you'd worry."
"You had Jason come back to get things because you were injured, right? How could you hide this from me?" Briar said, somewhat angrily.
"I'm sorry, Briar. I won't hide things from you anymore. Please don't cry."
"What exactly happened to you? Why have you been having so much bad luck lately?"
"Briar, I'll leave Ella in your care. Ella, I need to go back to the office. I'll come see you later."
"Jason, why don't you stay for dinner? I'll go buy groceries right now."
"No need, Briar. I have things to do. I'll come see you guys later."
Jason declined with a smile, then turned to look at Ella.
"Ella, from now on, you stay home. You're not allowed to go anywhere. Once I contact that police officer and confirm the time, I'll go with you."
"Thanks, Jason. I'll listen to you." Ella nodded obediently with a smile.
After Jason left, Briar looked at Ella with concern.
"Go back to your room and rest. I'll go buy groceries and make you some nutritious soup."
"Briar, don't trouble yourself. Just make me some pasta. I just want something light."
"Okay, I'll go shopping tomorrow then. Go change your clothes first. The pasta will be ready soon."
Austin also learned immediately that Ella had been discharged from the hospital. He continued to instruct his bodyguard.
"Stay near Ella's house. Just don't let her notice you. If she goes out anywhere, notify me right away."
"Understood, Mr. Raymond!"
Austin was looking at some documents on his computer—information he had someone investigate about Judith's recent whereabouts.
He found that Judith's movements didn't seem suspicious at all. Could it not be Judith?
Austin still suspected her, but without direct evidence, he needed to keep investigating.
He absolutely wouldn't allow Ella to remain in danger, being harmed again and again.
Carol still didn't know that the person she had hired had been exposed.
Because Isaac had already fled the city, Carol thought she was safe.
She just felt somewhat unsatisfied that, despite all her efforts, Ella was still alive.
"Mom, why is Ella still alive? I wish she would die right now, immediately." Judith shouted angrily, hysterically.
"Judith, I didn't expect that bitch to be so lucky either. The car couldn't kill her; she was rescued when we kidnapped her, and she discovered the poison."
"We need to lay low for now. If we make another move, I'm afraid we'll be exposed."
"After a while, I'll definitely make a move and finish off that bitch for good." As she said this, Carol gritted her teeth, her eyes full of viciousness.
"Ella, you just wait. I won't let you go." A flash of cruelty crossed Judith's eyes, and she already had an idea in mind.
"Judith, don't act rashly. I promise you, I'll definitely finish her off. Don't get involved in this anymore."
Carol also sensed something was off with Judith and quickly tried to persuade her.
Although she was ruthless, evil, and would stop at nothing to achieve her goals,
she loved her only daughter, Judith dearly and only wanted Judith to have a beautiful future.
These illegal, evil deeds—she would do them alone.
She felt that even if it meant going to hell, as long as it was for Judith, she would do it without hesitation.
Actually, Carol had known John much earlier than Janice had.
Carol got pregnant unexpectedly, but John married Janice instead. Carol had held a grudge ever since.
It wasn't until Janice died that Carol had the chance to openly marry John with Judith.
Carol not only hated Janice but also hated Ella, and absolutely wouldn't allow Ella to be better than Judith.
When Ella was ten years old, Carol bribed human traffickers to kidnap Ella.
She thought Ella's life would surely be miserable afterward, or that she would die somewhere.
But things didn't go as planned. Ella actually escaped and came back unharmed.
And later, she even married Judith's crush, Austin.
Originally, they thought Austin was disabled, which was why Judith gave up on him. They never expected Austin would actually recover!
Carol and Judith's fates were so similar. Carol wanted to change all this and help Judith get everything she wanted.
But despite Carol's persuasion, Judith agreed on the surface while having already made up her mind.
She had bribed employees at Diamond Tech Solutions, trying to get Ella's research results.
Once the person she bribed obtained that data, she would find a way to make those results her own.
Then she would turn around and accuse Ella of stealing her intellectual property, ruining Ella's reputation, and bankrupting her company.
A few days later, Carol learned that Isaac was wanted by the police. She was immediately scared pale, her heart trembling with fear.
