Chapter 261 Disliking Someone

Since they caught it early, David and Sophia didn't breathe in too much of the toxic gas.

So, after just one night in the hospital, Alan let Sophia go home.

Sophia didn't want to tell Trina about what happened, but Joseph let it slip when he drove her back.

Trina insisted Sophia stay home and rest for a few days, even making some herbal remedies for her.

These days, Sophia was bored out of her mind, lying in bed. She wanted to play games, but Trina wouldn't let her, saying it was bad for the baby. She wanted to read, but Trina worried it would strain her eyes. Even practicing some martial arts was out of the question, as Trina feared it would harm the baby.

With nothing else to do, Sophia could only lounge on the couch listening to music or take walks in the nearby park. Thankfully, she had Buddy to keep her company, and through Buddy, she started chatting with the mysterious person.

[I really hate someone. What should I do? I don't want to see him, but he keeps showing up in front of me.]

David read the note Sophia had sent through Buddy, thinking for a moment. He had a feeling the person Sophia hated was him, so he picked up a pen to reply.

[Why do you hate him? Did he do something to hurt you? If he wanted to make amends, would you forgive him?]

David sent the letter with a nervous heart. He could still feel the smoothness of Sophia's skin on his palm. Maybe it was the lingering effects of the medication, but David had been dreaming about Sophia every night, and the dreams were always about making love.

He remembered waking up in the middle of the night a few days ago, finding his underwear soaked with sticky white fluid. The president of Vanguard Innovations Group, David, had a wet dream!

Who would believe such a thing?

Most people would think someone of David's status would never lack bed partners, but David was a man of principle.

To this day, besides Sophia, he probably hadn't touched any other woman. If it weren't for his close relationship with Brenda during his years abroad, his two best friends might have questioned his sexual orientation.

As he was thinking about Sophia, Buddy brought back her reply, which was quite long this time.

[Because I used to love him so much, to the point of losing myself. Later, I found out he betrayed me. When he kicked me out of the house, I finally realized that this one-sided love wasn't worth it.

But just when I wanted to stay away from him, he stuck to me like gum, even trying to interfere with my life. Who does he think he is? I'm not his pet dog, coming when called and leaving when kicked. So now I hate him. He's a jerk, the most annoying jerk in the world!]

David held the letter, reading it over and over again. He was now certain that the jerk Sophia was talking about was him.

Sophia's handwriting was neat at first, but it became increasingly messy towards the end, with the last few words almost tearing through the paper. Just from her handwriting, David could imagine how agitated Sophia was.

Imagining Sophia's angry face, David couldn't help but smile. She really was a feisty little bunny.

David's reply was short.

[Maybe he has his reasons.]

Reasons?

Sophia pondered over this. What reasons could David have? Was it possible that Emily had drugged and seduced him, and as a victim, he fell in love with his abuser?

Or maybe Emily was actually his brother's girlfriend, pregnant with his brother's child, and David accepted Emily out of brotherly love?

Impossible! Such things could never happen!

Sophia wanted to complain to the mysterious person some more, but Buddy was tired, resting on the table and refusing to go out.

Sophia, always doting on Buddy, decided to let him rest. As for the correspondence with the mysterious person, it could wait for another time.

David waited half the night but never received a reply from Sophia. A sense of loneliness washed over him. Oh well, maybe Sophia didn't believe he had his reasons. At least Emily's secret identity wouldn't be exposed.

The next day was the weekend, and Wesley didn't have classes. Sophia took the paper Wesley had given her and went to his house, only to run into David again.

Sophia still remembered the awkward incident with David in the car. She lowered her head, trying to avoid him and go straight to talk to Wesley, but Alison called out to her, apologetically saying, "Sophia, do you have some time today?"

"What's up, Alison? If you need something, just say it. I'll make time for anything you need."

Sophia's words made Alison smile warmly, and she affectionately pinched Sophia's cheek.

"You're just so lovable! To thank you, I'll make your favorite beef stew later."

"Alison, you're the best!"

Sophia cheered happily, then playfully winked.

"Alison, what do you need me to do?"

"Oh, my memory! This old age is getting to me. You know, Wesley and I are getting on in years, and Daisy wants to go out and play. We just don't have the energy to keep up with her. Could you take Daisy to the amusement park? She really envies other kids who get to go with their parents."

"I have time today. Let Daisy get ready, and we'll head out. By the way, where is Daisy?"

"Daisy's still sleeping in her room."

"I'll go wake her up." Sophia headed straight for Daisy's room, but David was in her way in the living room.

Sophia stepped to the left, and David mirrored her. She didn't want to argue, so she stepped to the right, but David did the same.

"What do you want?"

Sophia looked up at David, seeing the sparkle in his eyes. Her cheeks flushed.

Being that handsome had always given him an unfair advantage.

There was something about David's gaze that seemed so genuine. But she couldn't let herself fall for his looks again. Sophia turned away, determined not to meet his eyes.

David was in a great mood. He leaned down and whispered in Sophia's ear, "Last time in the car, you did something so outrageous to me. Are you just going to pretend it didn't happen? Shouldn't you take responsibility?"

Sophia's eyes widened. What was David talking about? She was the victim, wasn't she? And it was David's fault she got involved. She hadn't even asked for compensation, so why should she take responsibility?

Thinking this, Sophia held out her hand, palm up.

"You reminded me. I was wronged because of you. Where's my compensation?"

"What kind of compensation do you want?" David placed his hand in Sophia's. "How about I compensate you with myself?"
