Chapter 253: Course of action
"Remember the incident back then? The one I told you when I first paid you and my granddaughter a visit?" Grandpa cleared his throat and asked.
This made Wesley furrow his brows. Of course, he knew that incident. It was actually termed a taboo. And why was grandfather bringing that topic up?
"Yes, but what does that have to do with Chris?" Wesley had a bad feeling in his heart, but he still went ahead to ask. Deep down, he was hoping that that wasn't the case.
"Because among the people who died were Chris's parents. He was still young back then. " Grandpa sighed tiredly as he said that. He wondered why people always ended up blaming someone else for their misfortunes. He's never once thought Madison was the cause of that. Neither has he ever, in his life, ever blamed Madison. Whenever he heard people badmouthing Madison and calling her a jinx, he'd always been the one to stand up for her, even in her absence , for all those years. His granddaughter had such a warm heart. How dare those people talk badly about her? Fortunately, as time went by, people began forgetting about her existence. Then they slowly stopped talking about Madison. Little did he know a seed of hatred was slowly taking root in Chris's heart all that while. Grandfather always knew that Chris was bitter because of what had happened to his parents when he was a kid. He never thought he would make such a move on his previous granddaughter.

"But it's not Madison's fault." Wesley said coldly.
Who were those people to judge and blame Madison? She was just young back then. What makes people think she was the one who caused everything? They made his girl live her life in guilt and self-blame just because of their words. Now that she was slowly healing, they decided to reopen the wounds. Did they think she had no one to stand up for her? He'd promised to be there for her, so naturally, he was going to make anyone who dared lay a finger on Madison pay the price tenfold. He was going to make sure of that, and no one was going to stop him. It didn't matter whom. He was dead set on getting revenge on her behalf. He had to make sure that those people understood that Madison had a backer, too.
"You're right." Of course, that's what grandfather always thought. But did people really think so?

Grandpa turned to look at Wesley, who had gone silent and was shocked when he saw the look in his eyes. He could tell that Wesley was sinister, but he'd never expected it to be to that extent. He was actually a bit surprised. He thought he was the most sinister person around, but he'd never expected to find a youngster who had such an aura. What would happen if he grew old? Won't he be dangerous? What assured grandfather was the fact that the dangerous man sitting across from him loved his granddaughter to death. He was certain that the man would never do anything to harm his granddaughter. That's why he was happy that Madison managed to find such a strong man. At least, he would take care of his two grandchildren.
However, he was curious about what Wesley's next course of action would be.
"What do you plan to do?" Before grandfather could ask his question, Wesley beat him to it.
He wanted to know what grandfather's plan was so he could know whether to step back and wait for the results or whether he'll have to step up.
"You can do anything." Grandpa tiredly waved his hand and leaned back on his seat. He wanted to see what Wesley would do. That's what would make him either fully acknowledge him as a potential son-in-law or not.
"What are you planning, by the way?" Grandpa couldn't help but ask.
