Chapter 252: The effect of the jade ring
"Grandpa, what exactly is happening? Why did she go to sleep again?" Wesley's panicked voice reverberated throughout the entire living room. This made Rowan snap out of his trance. Only then did he realize that he had missed out on an important detail. His cousin seemed to have been awake a few minutes ago? Before he could think deeply about it, Grandpa spoke;
"It's okay. She's just sleeping. She's been through a lot. Let her rest for a while." As he said this, he marveled at the thought that that jade ring could do all that. He once heard from his wife that the jade ring was special because it could bring a person to life. It was a rebirth ring. Back then, he'd just scoffed because he thought his wife was just bluffing. That didn't seem to be the case, though. It turned out his wife was telling the truth back then. He wished he could turn back time and tell his wife he believed in her. Maybe he could've changed some things back then. Anyway, it was roo late for regrets, and the only thing he could do was ensure that Madison was safe and alright. Wesley heaved a sigh of relief when he heard what Grandpa said. He stood up with the girl in his arms, while Grandpa led the way to the room prepared for her prior.

After Wesley carried Madison upstairs and made sure she was well tucked in, he took another long look at her to make sure she was okay.
"Watch over her. If anything happens, call me, okay?" Weslry instructed Rowan, who was standing at the side and watching as he put Madison on the bed.
"Okay." Rowan nodded and took a seat at the couch in the bedroom. Wesley wished he could stay to accompany Madison, but Grandpa had asked for his audience in the living room. And he knew it was definitely something serious. He had to get to the bottom of what was happening. He had an inkling, but he wasn't sure. He needed to hear from grandfather first. He had to make sure to plan. He was very ready to make anyone who dared lay a hand on Madison pay. Who did they think they were to behave so atrociously? Just because he did not react on time, they thought they would bully his family? As he thought about, the aura around him grew colder.

"Sorry to have implicated you guys." Grandpa started by apologizing. He felt that the whole thing had happened because of him. If he hadn't invited them over, such a thing wouldn't have happened. But did Wesley think so? Of course not. He felt that the guy's whole being was filled with vengeance as he rained bullets on Madison. That meant it was his plan all along. He had been planning the revenge for God-knows-how-long. He just happened to be lucky to meet her there.
"Who exactly is this person, Grandpa?" That was what Wesley was more interested to know. He wondered what kind of man he was to be able to intimidate even the iron fisted grandfather before him. Just how powerful was he? Or, what exactly made Grandfather have such a reaction when he saw him? He just wanted to know. Madison's grandfather was a formidable figure, and people were always scared of him. How could Chris intimidate him so much as to evoke such a reaction from him?
