CHAPTER 87

ANNA'S POV

Mom fed me when I woke up, I was feeling a bit strong and a knock came on the door. Someone entered and greeted mom.

“Good morning ma'am, I'm Matteo Lombardi.” he says with a straight face.

“Morning young man, how may we help you?” mom asked him.

“I was sent by Mr Wilder, for security purposes of the hospital and Miss Anna.” he replied to mom.

“Anna's my daughter,” mom looked at me. “Mija, can you call Noah, to confirm please.” mom said to him.

“Can you wait for my daughter to confirm from Noah, please.” mom said to him.

“I'll be right here, ma'am.” he said to mom and stood by.

I called Noah, and we talked for a while, he told me he was the one that sent him, and that he was there for my safety, and I told him I was gonna be discharged this weekend, but he told me he was going on a business seminar and he won't be back until, the next week and he told me we'll be going on a date if he comes back, I said okay.

“Matteo, we've confirmed from Noah, that he sent you.” mom said to him.

“Ma'am, I'll be outside the door if you need me.” he said to both of us and left the room.

“Mami, Noah said he will take me out on a date.” I told mom.

“That's nice dear, it will be good for you to spend some time with him, he's in love with you, I know it.” mom said and winked at me.

“Really, you think he loves me?” I asked mom.

“Yes, he does, he has shown it a lot of times dear. believe me, okay.” mom told me.

We talked about other things, my friends called me and I told them about my discharge from the hospital and they were happy about it. I was talking with uncle Bill, when the door opened and it was Detective Rodriguez. He walked in and he sat down on a chair, beside mom as I finished talking with uncle Bill.

“Anna, I'm really glad that you're awake, you gave everyone a scare. how're you feeling now?” he said to me.

I looked at him, and back to mom before responding, “I know and, I'm sorry for making everyone worried, I feel fine, just a slight headache but I'm okay.” I replied to him.

“Anna,” he began, his voice soft but firm, “I need to ask you some questions about the night that you were attacked.”

I looked at mom, and back to Detective Rodriguez, I bit my lips and I felt a surge of panic. “I can't remember anything about the attack, Sir.” I told him.

Detective Rodriguez nodded at me and pulled his seat closer to me. “Yes I know, we all know. But any detail, no matter how small, could help us find out who did this to you.” he said to me.

My mind was racing, trying to piece together fragments of my memories. But everything was always in a blur and blank. “I don't remember anything, but trying to remember makes me really scared, Sir.” I told him.

Detective Rodriguez scribbled in his notepad, he sighed and leaned back in his chair, “Do you remember anything about the person? What they looked like, anything they said?” he asked me as mom squeezed my hands gently.

I shook my head, frustration was already settling in, “No, it's all…. I'm so sorry.”

Mom squeezed my hand again, “It's alright, Mija. You're doing great.” mom told me.

Detective Rodriguez leaned back, his eyes intense and serious. “Noah says, you have selective Amnesia, you don't remember the attack on you. But what about the days leading up to the attack? Anything unusual happened?”

I closed my eyes trying to concentrate hard, trying to see if I could get anything. “I don't think so. Everything is normal. Just work and home.”

Detective Rodriguez, putting the notepad away. “We're exploring all possibilities. Right now, we need to focus on you getting better. but if you remember anything, no matter how insignificant it seems, please tell us.”

“I'll do just that, sorry if I'm not of any help to you.” I told the detective.

“No pressure, just tell me if you remember anything, I'll be leaving now.” he said to me.

“Thanks, Detective, I'll let you know immediately if she remembers anything.” mom said to him as he walked to the door.

I sat at the edge of the bed, my belongings packed into a small bag beside me. The room which has been my little world for the months now, now felt small as I was about to leave. Mom was beside me, her eyes filled with relief and happiness as she looked at me.

The doctor entered with a reassuring smile playing on his lips “Anna, you're leaving today, and I must say you're looking better today.” he said to me.

I smiled weakly at him, “Thank you, doctor I'm ready.” I told him.

Doctor looked at mom and then back at me, “there are a few things we need to discuss before you leave. Your recovery has been remarkable and amazing, but we need to ensure it continues smoothly. I have given you guys the card of the therapist, you should visit him ASAP, given the trauma and Amnesia, it's important to have professional help.”

“We'll do that doctor, as you've said.” mom replied to him.

Doctor continued, “try to keep the journal like, I told you, write your daily activities and importantly any dreams or flashes of your memory you experience write it down. it'll help jog your memory and provide more insight for your therapist.”

I sighed happily, trying these things to help me remember, “Okay, I'll do what you've said doctor.”

Doctor smiled warmly, “Good, I also need you to come back here by next week for a final scan. we want to make sure everything is progressing well and there are no underlying issues.”

I nodded “next week, got it.” I said to him,

The doctor left after that, as we were finishing the paperwork, Toye and Tina arrived. Their faces lit up and they came to me and hugged me.

“Anna, it's so good to see you up and about.” Tina exclaimed, hugging me.

Toye smiled, her eyes twinkling with excitement and relief. “We've missed you. it's been strange and weird without you around.”

I felt warmth spread around me, “I've missed you guys too. It's been…… alot.”

Toye sat at the edge of the bed, “We're here for you, whatever you need. Just let us know okay.”

I looked at both of them, and I nodded at what Toye said, “Thanks Toye, thanks Tina.”

Mom cleared her throat softly. “Anna, we should get you home. you need to rest.”

As we made our way to the car, Matteo left when we got to the car. I felt a lot of emotions as we were driving back home, anxiety and uncertainty about the future and my recovery. The drive was quiet, and the familiar streets passed in a blur.

Once home, mom helped me settle in my room. “Remember what the doctor said. Take it easy, write in your journal and rest.”

“I will mom.” I said to her,
