Chapter 51-Trapped

Huge mess. It was terrifying; I couldn't move. Why did I feel like there was a huge rock placed on my feet? It was like, I couldn't move, my energy was drained, and I was glued to the floor. I tried hard. I tried my best to lift my feet and move away from the point of the fight. I wanted to run.. as far as I could. I wanted to leave it all behind and keep myself safe—what should I do? My eyes roamed around the room and realized everyone was safe now.

They were far from Kairo and Cassius and were protecting each other. One thing that made me anxious was the kids going 'round this place. Where are their parents? I looked behind me and realized that Cassius and Kairo were communicating through their eyes. Their sharp gazes pierced each other, and I guess I could be stabbed now. For a moment, I felt my fingers moving. I could finally run away from the scene! I knew I had to do this. Otherwise, I would die. Maybe. In the hands of my lover? I walked slowly away from them.

I made sure not to stumble upon anything and removed the pair of my shoes, which still had heels, while the other broke. I wiped off my dress carefully and grabbed my bag from the floor, and tried to run away. Just as before I could reach twelve inches away from them, I saw a kid hiding under a table, crying, horrified by the scene. It was a boy.

A very daring child. He's too small; I guess five years old? He was trembling on his feet while hugging his knees. He looked so traumatized as things went flying around. Cassius summoned the power of the air. Everything seemed to be influenced by a strong wind—a tornado or hurricane. I went flying to the kid and shielded him when a piece of ceramic plate was about to reach him. It hit my back, and I felt like my spine had broken in half.

I wanted to scream the pain out, but I had no choice but to stay, shielding this poor creature. He came to me and hugged me on the waist while I remained sitting with my back protecting him. He was crying so hard I did not want him to sniff the alcohol from my body. "Are you okay? Are you hurt?" I asked and let go of the table's head. I wanted to see each part of his body and scan for possible injuries. At least I saved someone with my own body.

I never thought I would become something like this. All along, I knew I hated kids, but here I am, rushing my way to save this little fellow who knew nothing about me. He's not even a family or of my bloodline, but I hurriedly sprinted so that I could shield him. What made me change? Who broke me? Did I suddenly want to change my ways? Have I finally grown a liking for kids? The boy never answered.

Instead, he stared blankly at me as his wailing echoed all over the room. I knew he was traumatized. I picked him up and put him on my shoulders. I wanted to carry him out of here and ensure he was safe. I don't have the power to summon the elements of the Earth, just like Cassius did. I couldn't build a whole shield straight out of natural abilities; how could I save this guy if I couldn't save myself? I looked behind and realized that Kairo's eyes were a flaming glow. I can feel intense heat all over my body; it seems like he's summoning the sun's rays. I never knew he's got what it takes to ask the sun to emit thousands of flame lines; he can surprise me even though I don't like him that much.

I looked at the child, and he was clinging to me hard. He was so afraid, and I could feel his body trembling; I didn't want that scene at all. He was helpless, truly pitiful. Why did his parents leave him at the scene? I fear abandonment—why did he have to suffer from it? "I need to get you out of here. You have to grab me tight, okay?" I asked the child to ensure he was holding onto me as hard as possible.

I knew what it took to keep this. "Please bring me home," he pleaded, his eyes watery. To him, I was an icon. A savior might be the answer to his prayers. He must have seen me as a hero, something I never wanted. A mom, maybe he thinks that I am a mother figure now. Someone who would do anything to save her son. I nodded at him and tried running away.

Every step I took was getting heavier and heavier. Why did it become like this? It was like, all the strength I had earlier was getting sucked into a black hole. How can I move? I put all my effort into my legs so that I can move forward. I wanted to be sure to put this child on the safe line, at least even though I knew I had to stay on this dangerous side.. what should I do? I am sinking. I am shrinking like a liquid getting sucked into a hole. I am compressing like a cloud of dust being eaten by a vacuum. I moved forward and gave a kid a handful of advice. "You need to get your acts together, okay?" I said. He looked confused.

He lifted his head and asked me, "What's wrong? Are you going to leave me behind?" he said, making me feel guilty. I can't leave this child here. But I can't leave myself as well. I took a deep breath and got my strength ready. "On the count of three, I need you to close your eyes and feel your heartbeat. You do not have to do anything but stay intact with your brain and keep your physical body hardened like a rock, okay?" I said and put him in my arms. He was shocked.

I knew he would be like this, and I predicted it all. "One," I put my other foot behind me and put the other one in front. I transferred all my strength to my calves and breathed heavily. "Two," I shouted. I lift the kid using the remaining power in my hands. He was so confused while crying his eyes out. I smiled at him to make him feel at ease, even just for now. I didn't want him to think that he was dying. I prepared my hands and feet, synchronized. I let them be.

"And three!" I shouted and threw the child in the air. I watched him close his eyes while he held both his shoulders together. He hugged himself tight, waiting for him to drop to the ground. He was crying, and all his tears were falling to the ground. I can sense his heart throbbing, and he's unsure whether he'll survive. I dropped to the floor before him; I lost all my power. I still had the will to live, but it wasn't enough to keep me up, I must admit. I am scared. I am terrified of what would happen to me. The child was caught between his parent's arms.

They were extremely grateful. I can see the happiness in their eyes as the couple cried and hugged the child. It seemed like they were searching for their son for a couple of hours, and my helping them really brightened things up. The couple looked at me and were horrified. I can see the horror in their eyes as they watch me lose everything I have. I couldn't stand it. My mouth wouldn't even open, and I was so tired. All I did was carry that small guy, run for our lives, throw him in the air. Why did I feel so drained? My muscles felt like a dehydrated vegetable. My joints couldn't bend. What should I do? It was like a huge force was pressing me against the floor.

I wanted to lift my body up and run away from there. The negative energy.. was too much to bear. I couldn't look behind me and didn't know what was happening. All I knew was that Yereah was enjoying everything like she was watching some popular drama series. A beautiful smile was plastered on her face, and she was indeed obsessed with the thought of killing me. All along. I thought. Eloise would be the one to kill me. I couldn’t lift my finger, and I couldn't say any words. No one dared to help me; they wouldn't even cross the barrier here.

I was trapped. I had no escape, and this is where I die. All of a sudden, I felt sleepy. My eyes felt like it would shut, and I knew I was slowly dying. It felt like I was just getting some nice long sleep without pain. Should I sleep? Should I answer my body? I tried snapping, and I wanted to fight. I can't. I shouldn't give up now, not now that I managed to save a life! I pinched myself and slapped my face. I had to wake up and can't give in to my desires. I can't sleep. I must fight this sickness.

I should be awake until Cassius calmed down and Kairo decided to be kind to us. I can't give up! I tried sitting up with a desire to run away again. Not from my responsibility but to the harm this would possibly cause me. I should be alive. I have every single reason to fight for my life. If I happen to be pregnant, the child should be born! I should deliver the baby well, and I don't care who the father is. I touch my stomach and feel the warmth emitting from it.

No matter what happens, either there's a baby inside, or there isn't, I have to keep on going. I hear a loud thud behind me, and I know the fighting is turning physical. The people before me were so scared, and their voices were too loud to bear.

Their mouth was now open wide, and they were horrified and scared. I can't afford to look behind. I know I'll be afraid of what will become. I am terrified of what's approaching me. I tried standing up by putting my hand on my other knee to support my body. I couldn't be swayed. I finally stand up, and my body feels weak. I don't have enough energy to run, so I guess I must walk smoothly.

It was crashing me! I heard several noises; it was that loud banging again. I can hear Cassius coughing; I can't help but endure it and cry silently. I have no choice! I saw Eloise rushing back to the place and looking extremely worried when she saw me.

She was so shocked, mouth open and jaws on the floor, and she kneeled on the floor while looking at me. "A-are you okay?! What should I do?" she said, almost entering the danger zone. Careless. "No!" I shouted. Finally, I have my voice back! My mouth could finally open! After shouting, the fighting stopped. I wonder why. The barrier seemed to be taken down. My body dropped to the floor after getting my energy back.

It was too overwhelming; I couldn't handle it even a bit. I can't control my own energy! My body pressed on the floor as I felt like I was drifting away. I tried crawling away when I felt a warm palm behind my neck. A man carried me into his arms and made me stand up. I felt like his force was too great; it almost broke my body in half. I looked up at him and saw Cassius's eyes flaming, It was too scary. I couldn't dive in.

"It should be done now," he whispered in my ears. I held his hands, and he supported my waist. No. We cannot do that. I won’t allow it. He stared at me deeply as he showed me his gritted teeth. Before I knew it. "Ahhhhhhhhh!"
