Chapter 52 - A Savior

Strange. I felt like I was melting. The feeling of drifting away while my body was still intact to each other was pretty much harder and stranger than I thought it should be. I felt like an ounce of electricity drove straight into my nerves. It affected my entirety that my old drained body was transformed into an energetic one; I felt like he just gave me a pack of energy. I felt like I was going insane.

My mind was slowly turning blank as I felt the pain in my neck, transferring to my heart, to my nerves, to my joints, to my muscles, and to my whole body. I also perceived that it reached my brain now. Although I wanted to resist, my body didn’t want to. I want to fight. However, no matter how hard I tried moving my hands, I couldn't even lift a finger. The only reason that's keeping me standing on this floor is the strength he put onto his hands. His arms that were lifting me off the floor were overwhelming, as if it was slowly turning into mine. I can feel a sting on the open cut.

His fangs dive deep into my skin; I fear what will happen. I could see everyone looking so shocked while Eloise slowly got up and covered her mouth in shock. The Luna seemed to be expecting everything all along. She's not moved nor surprised by what Cassius did to me. She must have seen everything that was coming on the way before coming here. She fooled me. I felt like she deceived me and my tiny brain. I can't take the humiliation that I let her get the best out of me. I let this woman use me and take advantage of my skills; she was planning something else all along.

She never told me her original scheme. My eyes were too heavy, and they wanted to close now. I felt sleepy even though the energy was here now. Every suck of my blood makes me twitch and sends chills down my spine. I can't believe we've done this procedure before and are now doing it again. Cassius' head lifts into the air and lets go of me.

I dropped to the floor as I felt the wound aching. It was bleeding. Eloise immediately ran to me and held my head. She placed it on her legs and gently slapped my face, ensuring I was still awake. She grabbed some cloth and placed it on the cut. I felt cold.. it was like, I would fall ill after this incident, and I couldn't stop it. My breath started turning into a heavy one.

Every inhale gave me a sharp-like feeling in my chest, and it was like getting stabbed by a huge and long sword—it was too painful. Every time I exhale, the sharpness disappears, but the loss of strength follows. It was a cycle. I was under some spell, like a stitch getting torn apart every single time. I touched the injured part and realized how blood flows out of it like a stream of water under some falls. In no time, I knew I would pass out due to the loss of blood and would eventually die. However, I can't allow that.

Every time I tried to make a move, the sting gradually increased as the pain devoured my existence. I couldn't breathe, it was like several torn from a rose were scattered around my heart, and it broke me to think about it. My lungs no longer want to function.

"C'mon, Raya," Eloise said and tried compressing the wound with clothes to stop the bleeding. She was so flustered by the situation that she didn't know what to do with me. "You're going to suck all those blood back to your body, or I'm going to stab you to death," she said, threatening me. Even though she knew really well, there wasn’t much I could do with my current situation.

"I-I can't breathe," I said and frankly stated what I felt. She tried punching my chest to circulate my breathing again. The pain is still there. It's still lurking around my body freely. Cassius, on the other hand, was glued in his place. He was so careless and couldn't believe what he did. I knew he must have felt so cruel for what he did and was contemplating everything right now. What should I do? He dropped to his knees and held my hand.

Eloise's eyes were glaring at him as she gripped my arms really hard. I knew she wanted to punch him in the face right now and make sure he would pay for what he did. How brave of her, but that won't really work for him. Especially to how he was determined to do that thing, did he even think of the possible consequences and the effects of his actions? That I might have died at his hands? Is he not thinking, or maybe I was assuming that he cared for me and my health? Am I delusional?

"I-I am so sorry," Cassius said and shouted his apologies. He held my hands tightly and squeezed them as he put it on his face. I knew how sincere his apologies were.. his tears started falling from his face as he said those words clearly but stuttering. With those few words and phrases, I was alive again. The thorns were picked and were no longer painful for me. It was like, a part of me was alive again, and I could now live.

"I did a cruel thing. I am too stupid! I shouldn't have done that. I shouldn't have—" Cassius said as he snatched me from Eloise and hugged me tight. Eloise went away as she held the towel in her hands, leaving the wound open. Cassius stole the place from her and stole me away from her arms to lock into his. I felt so stiff with his cold hard as rock body, and I couldn't dare move.

The bleeding was starting to look like a splash of water again, and I could see Eloise looking so worried about me. She hurriedly sprinted and slapped Cassius using her bare palms. She was furious about it.

"I might have been too harsh towards Raya, but I want her to be safe! All you did was give her a headache and cause her pain. Just like your fucking brother, you are up to no good," she said. Everyone looked straight at us. It was like they couldn't believe what she just said. Everyone's eyes were large as an egg, and they had jaw-dropped facial expressions. Their expression says it all.

Eloise was a strange woman no one could handle. Cassius wouldn't let go of me. He was gripping me too hard, and it actually hurt me. I wanted him to go away. "Get the hell away from Raya, brother," Kairo muttered for the first time in my whole life. I felt like he came at the right time.

Cassius dared to look up. Kairo looked so trashy right now. Blood all over his face, cuts within his skin, bruises he got from all the fighting, clothes cut open, what can make it worse? "How dare you tell me what to do?" Cassius said. Are they going to spark a fight again? No.. they shouldn't.

"That—stop it!" The woman.. the mother of the child I saved earlier, stood up. She’s carrying her son by her other arm while looking at us. The attention of the two was easily earned as they both looked at the woman right now. If I was her, I would be scared and wouldn't dare speak anymore.

“Both of you should stop this fight now. Hand over Raya to me; I know how to treat her. Besides, this is probably how I would express my gratitude to her for saving my child. Had it not been for her, my son would have died in the incident earlier," She said, making the two realize how big of a mess they had created. Well, at least they would know how foolish they are right now.

Seeing how the whole reception wasn't accessible anymore, how all utensils were no longer usable, how the food was no longer edible, there was no sense to this party anymore. This is just a pure war and a never-ending saga of physical violence. How I wish I did not see this...

"That's it, and we will have to go now. Don't worry, and she'll be safe with me. I'll make sure to stop the wound from bleeding, treat her back after that plate broke all over her, and change her clothes. I'll treat her right; hand her over," she said, making me feel at ease. Cassius was too kind to even keep me for himself. He knew he couldn't do anything, so he picked me up from the floor, sniffed hard, then asked: "I will bring her to you?"

"I will bring her to my infirmary. There, she could be treated well. You can either postpone this party or continue it, do as you please. Alpha. Do you need some treatment as well?" she asked. How could she ask the alpha and leave the beta alone? "Don't worry, I can take care of myself," Kairo said, spitting blood on the floor. "Just take good care of her and ensure she'll return as a whole. I apologize for the inconvenience and my brother's stupidity. This will never happen again," Kairo said, announcing to everyone how stupid Cassius was.

Such a jerk for putting all the blame on my mate! Can't he see that he's also at fault here? "Would you look at that? The two of you actually acknowledge whose fault it is. Come one, don't be too foolish," Eloise said. Yereah stood up from her seat and made sure she appeared more graceful right now—such a fake queen. The Luna is fake.

"Please do as Kairo said. Please take care of it. Cassius' mate and make sure she'll come back to him. Who knows if she'll run away," The Luna said, making it look like I'll have time to escape. How dare she make a fool out of me? A couple of men tried carrying me, but I wouldn’t dare bother anyone right now. I just tried to lift myself into the air and have Eloise carry me on her shoulders.

She was tough, right? Very tough. I don’t know whether I’ll just walk by myself alone right now and make sure never to give anyone a headache but seeing my current state, I had no choice but to have someone to take care of me. Otherwise, I would die of my own foolishness.

“Will you be comfortable around us?” The woman asked, which actually made me feel at ease. At least she cared for me enough to even ask me about comfortable things. The hospitality she had was unbeatable. I guess we could be friends? Right? At least, I thought. They headed the way and made sure I followed. Eloise was struggling but still didn’t want to have someone to help me walk. She’d rather do the job than give someone the job. I guess it is the compensation for what she did. But she really didn’t have to do that! We walked out of the place and entered a car. The scent inside made me crave food.

Eloise was very careful about me and assisted me so well. She’s still applying pressure to my neck while being gentle about it. Guess I have my own nurse now. The child a while ago was sitting in front of us. He constantly smiled at me, so I had no choice but to smile back. He seemed to be a good child, if ever I had someone like that, I would love to have a child as fine as him.

“My mom owns that infirmary. I know she’ll take good care of you,” The child said. Hold up! Did I save a big-time kid?
