Chapter 47 The Hard Life

Amabel immediately pulled her sleeve down, giggling and showing a smile, "It's fine. The injury is nothing. Even though our Stealing Sect is top-notch, we fail occasionally."

Carl was shocked. The injury on her hand should be caused by being beaten while being caught stealing.

"Okay!" Carl looked at the wound on Amabel's hand, and felt heartache, "Why did you steal from others?"

Amabel looked at Carl like a monster, "I’m not stealing, but robbing the rich to help the poor."

Carl couldn't believe that a fifteen-year-old child had lived alone for a year by stealing.

Amabel climbed onto the stool, took down a family photo on the table, proudly pointed at the man in the photo and said, "He's my father! A magician who can conjure up lots of things. I admire him the most. But he lost himself at that time when he was driving out of town."

Amabel pointed to the woman in the picture again, "She was my mom. She was a teacher. My classmates admired her. She got sick but still went to school. Then she went into the emergency center and never woke up. The doctors said it was cancer."

"They all told me that my mom and dad were just asleep and that they would wake up when I got older. But I already knew what was going on. They lied to me. My mom and dad were never coming back."

"Aren't you sad?"

"Of course I was sad, but then I figured out that even if I was sad, what could I do? They'll never wake up."

Saying that, Amabel looked at the alarm clock, pointed at the kitchen and said, "From now on, in addition to learning from me, you have to do housework, cooking, mopping the floor and so on. If you don't do well, I will expel you from here."

"Yes!" Carl got up, straightened his clothes, and headed out the door. When he was about to go out, Amabel behind him immediately called out, "What are you doing? The kitchen is over there."

"I'm going to buy food."

Amabel wearing slippers, rushed over and said with great excitement, "I want to eat chicken legs, roast duck..."

"What else?" When Carl was about to touch her little head, she stretched out her hand to block it.

Amabel blinked her eyes, pondered, tugged Carl's corner and said, "And pizza, I like pizza the most."

Carl laughed out and ordered, "You are not safe at home alone. Lock the door when I go out. No matter who calls, don't open the door, okay?"

Amabel nodded, looking very unhappy, "Carl, I'm warning you for the last time. I'm your teacher. Don't call me by name. Don’t you know how to respect your teacher?"

"Yes, teacher."

After leaving the residential area, Carl walked towards the vegetable market. This place was relatively unfamiliar to him. He was wandering around for a while. But he didn’t find the food market, and finally found it by asking a passing lady.

It must be said that the vegetable market was the most lively place. There were noises everywhere. Especially at the time of the meal, there were many people here buying food. He strolled around for a while and found the roast duck and chicken legs. After buying these, he found only a dozen dollars left.

When he left the market and found the pizza shop, he took the money in his pocket and didn't go in.

Tomorrow there would be no food. He must find a job today, preferably including food and accommodation.

He didn't want Amabel to steal again. A fifteen-year-old girl should have a good living environment, and shouldn’t look for how to steal someone's wallet on the street everyday.

After walking along the street with the food on his hands, he came to the door of an entertainment place, where there was a recruitment sign with a salary of three thousand plus commission.

When he walked in, a person who looked like a leader took a glance towards Carl, "Gentleman, who are you ...."

Carl looked at the food he was carrying and said apologetically, "Sorry, I just came out of the market and saw that you are hiring staff here..."

The leader looked carefully at Carl, "Have you ever worked in a place like this before?"

Carl nodded, then shook his head, "Yes."

The leader said, "How about you come here to work tomorrow? I'm sure you've seen the salary on the job board outside. if you have any other questions, you can ask me now."

"Does it cover food?" Carl said.

It was a female leader, dressed in professional clothes, and looked quite pretty, and hot, "No."

"However, I can give you a raise in pay. How about it?" The female leader saw that Carl was leaving and spoke up.

Only then did Carl nodded, and was about to leave when he heard the female leader say again, "The employees who work here bring their uniforms, preferably shirt suits, not casual clothes."

Carl nodded and looked down at himself. Now he was wearing a pair of flip-flops, a pair of casual pants, and a short-sleeved. He remembered that he saw a suit on the balcony of Amabel's house. It was presumably Amabel's father's, and came in handy now.

The female leader was the owner of this entertainment place. Recruiting employees was originally a matter for the head of the Human Resources Department, but when she just saw Carl walk in from outside, she felt that he was familiar.

The female boss made a phone call, "I saw Mr. Rodriguez. Do you want me to take him back?"

There was a voice from Olivia, "Are you sure it's him?"

The lady said, "It's him."

"I'll be there later."

...

Carl had just walked into the courtyard of the residential area and sneezed, just about to swear. Then he was grabbed by a thin old man with a bunch of beard on his chin. He was a fortune teller.

Carl didn't have time to listen to his nonsense, pushing the old man away and walking towards the upstairs.

Behind him came the old man's voice, "This calamity can be solved. If you have figured it out, you can come to me at any time."

Carl was in no mood to pay attention at all. Carrying the food, he walked to the door of the third floor and knocked. What he didn't expect was that it was two men who opened the door.

Carl looked at the hall, found Amabel was sitting on a chair silently, and kept blinking towards Carl. Carl was not sure what was going on, said towards the two men, "Are you Amabel's relatives?"

The two men were stunned and looked at each other, but quickly faked a smile, "Yes, we are Amabel's relatives."

"I'll put the food in the kitchen." Saying that, Carl walked in towards the kitchen then quickly boil a pot of water.

When he entered the door just now, he noticed something wrong. He had never heard of any relatives of Amabel before, and they looked very stern and unkind.

He knew Amabel for less than a day, but he knew that Amabel was active. It was impossible for her to sit so quietly on the chair, and just now she was winking at him, probably to tell him that they were bad men.

Watching the water boil, Carl brought up the basin and walked towards the hall.

Two men were standing next to Amabel on the left and one on the right, holding a cigarette in their hands and smoking, looking very wary.

"Don't stand like this. Make yourselves comfortable." Carl said as he winked at Amabel.

Amabel looked at the boiling water in his basin and then at Carl, grinned and looked like she got Carl's meaning. She immediately jumped down from the stool and hid behind the table.

They saw this, threw away their cigarette butts, and looked to pounce towards Amabel.

Carl grinned, "Hey, I'm sorry."

Saying that, Carl lifted the water basin and splashed it towards them, and then they screamed miserably.

Carl pulled up Amabel behind the desk and ran towards the house outside.

Down the residential area, Carl looked back, and found that they had also rushed down. Carl did not have time to think about it, and quickly ran towards the outside.
