Chapter 48 Understanding

Originally, Carl wanted to go to the street. There were so many people there. Even if those two men caught up, they wouldn't dare to do anything.

But when he turned back, Amabel had already run into the alley next to him, waving at Carl as she ran.

He wasn't sure what Amabel was up to, and ran over towards the alley. When he entered the alley, he was still a little worried and hid behind a tree to look towards the entrance of the residential area.

The two men had already chased after him from inside the residential area. Their faces were blistered from the boiling water, and even then, the angry expressions on their faces could still be seen.

"Son of a bitch, I'll catch him. I'll definitely beat him."

"Damn it, they scalded us with boiling water."

"That brat must be in cahoots with that puny girl. We only have three days, and must find the young master's things. Otherwise, the young master will definitely not spare us."

...

Could it be that their young master's stuff was stolen by Amabel? So they came to the door. If that was the case, wouldn't he be an accomplice?

No, he should be the main culprit. No one would put the blame on a small child. It must be thought that an adult had ordered the child to steal something.

Seeing those two men walking away, he was relieved.

But at this time, he felt his clothes pulled by others. When he looked back, Amabel looked terrified, and tearful, trembling.

But in the next moment, Amabel's appearance made him shocked.

Amabel giggled and smiled, "What a thrill!"

"You tell me, did you steal something from someone?"

"No, I just saw what deal they were making."

It didn't look like that she was lying. Amabel was an eyewitness at that time. In order to escape the law, they had to catch Amabel and shut her up forever.

Amabel looked a little scared, "When I went to report the case, the police didn't believe me and said I was talking nonsense."

Carl intended to report to the police, but now it seemed unfeasible.

They couldn’t stay here any longer. They couldn't find Amabel, and may come back again. If they met the two men again, it will be difficult for them to escape.

He decided to take Amabel out of here first.

Amabel smiled towards him, "The most dangerous place is the safest. Haven't you heard of it?"

Saying that, she walked straight towards the inside of the residential area.

Carl hesitated. Amabel was right. Besides, now he had nowhere to go, and could just go back.

Carl smiled and shook his head, then followed up.

When he reached the courtyard of the residential area, the old man who told fortunes was even still there, "Sir, you should believe me this time!"

Carl lived in a small town, a remote and backward place. People, there were very superstitious. As long as they encountered anything significant or less than satisfactory, they would go to the small town's Goddess of Mercy Temple to pray.

Carl grew up in the town since childhood, so even after graduating from the university, he still was superstitious. It seemed that people sought some comfort when they encountered difficulties.

"In the future, you will be in trouble, but I have a way that will help you get out of the situation you are in."

"How to get out of it?"

The old man squeezed his fingers. His meaning was clear. As long as you paid, he would tell you how to do it.

Carl took out the five dollars crumpled in his trouser pocket. It was the only money he had.

The old man took the five dollars, "Isn't that too little?"

Carl rummaged through all of his trouser pockets, "There's only this five dollars left. If you don't want it, you can give it back to me. I'm still counting on it to eat a meal."

The old man saw that Carl really didn't have any money on him and waved, "Forget it, I'll be kind and help you for once."

Saying that, the old man looked very mysterious, "It's simple. You just need to seek the help of your family and friends to get out of your current situation."

Carl was very helpless, "Is there more?"

The old man smiled, "No."

...

Carl was angry all of a sudden, and wanted to punch someone. But he was an old man, Carl still suppressed the anger.

This was obviously bullshit. Even if what he said was true, then what could he do? Since he lost his memory, he only knew Olivia and Sarah.

He was not going back.

Back at Amabel's house, Carl was powerlessly slumped on the sofa, and Amabel, who was eating snacks, peeked at Carl from time to time, then continued to eat.

In fact, Carl was now very helpless. He really wanted to know who he really was, but this matter was only known to Olivia and Sarah. He had asked them many times, but they were not willing to tell him.

Also, Sarah didn't know much about Carl. It was useless to ask Sarah.

In the afternoon, he casually ate some food and was about to go out for a walk. That female boss called and asked Carl to go to work.

Carl was idling. It was best to have a job. At least he didn't have to starve.

He really didn't feel at ease about leaving Amabel at home alone and was afraid that they came to her door again.

"Come to work with me!" Carl pulled Amabel and headed out the door.

Amabel struggled, "I don't want to go. Going to work is a matter for your adults. What's it to do with me?"

"Those two people will come back sooner or later. Aren't you afraid of being captured by them?"

Only then did Amabel stop struggling, lock the door, follow Carl down the stairs, and walk towards that entertainment place.

Half an hour later, they arrived at the door of the entertainment place.

Carl was worried that Amabel would steal something habitually, and immediately instructed, "I warn you, when you go inside, you can't run around, and you're not allowed to steal other people's things. If I find out..."

When Amabel heard such words, she said with an angry face, "Carl, I warn you, I am your teacher. Don't talk to your teacher like this in the future. If someone heard this, I will lose face."

"Okay, my teacher, let's make an appointment. If you promise me to stop stealing, I can listen to you on anything."

Amabel ignored Carl at all, and directly went inside the hall.

Carl was afraid that she would get lost, so he could only follow her inside.

As soon as she entered, he saw that female boss standing inside the hall. When she saw Carl walking in with a small child, she looked unhappy, "Who is she?"

Carl really wanted to explain, but he didn't know how. He couldn't say that she was a thief and then he was forced by her to become her apprentice! This lady might think he was crazy.

"She's my daughter." Carl explained, "The child is still young. I don't feel comfortable leaving her at home, so I bring her here."

Seeing that the female boss looked displeased, Carl said anxiously, "Don't worry. She's very obedient and will not cause any trouble for you."

"That's good!"

The female boss looked at Amabel, then gazed at Carl, "Follow me."

Carl followed the female boss towards the lift.

"Customers are charged according to time here. The price varies from box to box." The female boss said in a cozy manner.

Just when Carl was confused, he looked back and found Amabel disappeared.

Carl was stunned, immediately reacted, apologized towards the female boss, and then searched in the hall, which was lined with boxes on both sides. The staff stood outside the boxes.

"Hello, have you seen a little girl coming over?"

One of the staff members, who was thin, said, "Is it a girl in a white dress with a ponytail?"

Carl nodded, "Yes, that's her."

The staff pointed to the compartment behind him, "She's inside. I thought she was the child of the guest in the compartment."

Carl looked through the glass of the box door towards the inside, only to see Amabel sitting on the sofa inside the box, eating snacks, while drinking beer. Due to the dark light inside, the guests were singing. A group of men and women were drunk, and did not care about Amabel.

Amabel was seemed to drink a lot of beer. She blushed and was sitting on the sofa drunk.
