Chapter 158 A Shocking Discovery
\[Osiris’ POV\]
“Where do you think they’re going?” Adeline asks me as I work to maintain control. “Hey…”
As she speaks, I clench and unclench my fists, digging my nails into my skin to keep me anchored in reality.
“Osiris.”
“I don’t know,” I say slowly.
My stepmother could be taking them anywhere, and that alone was a problem in itself.
And from what Adeline said, it seemed like they didn’t take a normal airplane, so tracking their whereabouts would be hard.
“Dammit,” I growl, looking around as though the bitch in question would be around. “I’m going to fucking kill her when I find her.”
“That makes two of us,” Adeline agrees. “But right now we need to keep our heads about us.”
“How the fuck do you expect me to do that when that woman has my mate and my pups in her grasp?” I demand, unable to control myself any longer. “She could be doing horrible things to them, right…”
I don’t finish my words as Adeline’s fist connects with my cheek, snapping my head to the side and knocking some fucking sanity into me.
“Better?” She asks as I turn and spit out blood. “If so, we need to come up with a game plan.”
For a moment, I don’t speak as I consider whether or not I actually am alright. Although I don’t feel fully in control of my emotions, I feel a hell of a lot calmer than I did.
“More or less,” I murmur. “Are you able to get ahold of Jean again?”
“No,” Adelien sighs. “I’ve been trying, but that damned block is in place.”
“Then we don’t have anything to go off of.”
“So it seems.”
Then for now it was best that we went back to the hotel room and tried to come up with a game plan.
“Let’s go,” I sigh, knowing it was pointless to continue standing here. “I’ll call Reg when we return.”
“How?” Adeline asks. “Wasn’t your phone lost with the car?”
“I have a spare,” I explain as I start to shift. “I can call him from that.”
Finished speaking, I finish shifting, and then I’m moving, heading back in the direction of the hotel, and when we are near, I look up at the balcony of our room while wondering how I could safely get up there without being spotted.
As it was, the sun was still up and people were moving around the place. I couldn’t waltz in there completely naked while Adeline followed me, and I couldn’t try scaling the place without someone spotting me.
Fuck. This was really starting to get on my nerves. And the more frustrated I got, the more I wanted to break my fucking stepmother's neck, but for now I needed to rein it in because if I lost my cool now, I truly felt that I would never see my flame again.
For the rest of the day, Adeline and I remain outside, and once the sun disappears on the horizon, we climb up to our room, where Becky is waiting.
Once inside, I shift back into my human form and head straight to my room to throw on clothes and then grab my spare phone, and when I do, I find a few missed calls from Reg showing on the screen.
Frowning, I find myself wondering what exactly he would be calling for, but decide instead of overthinking it I would just call him.
“Alpha!” He gasps once he picks up the phone. “Are you alright?”
“I am,” I respond. “Why wouldn’t I be?”
Growing quiet, I wait while Reg considers my question, and when the silence draws longer, I find myself wondering if something happened.
“What is it? ” I demand, deciding to break the silence. “Why are you acting so damn weird?”
“It’s…” He begins, his voice hesitant. “It’s your stepmother… She… She returned with Ray and Raelyn.”
“Really?” I hiss, shock rushing through me.
So, the woman was crazy enough to openly flaunt that she kidnapped Raelyn; well, she was making it easier for me.
“I’ll be there soon,” I announce and prepare to hang up, but before I can, I hear an uneasy cough escape Reg. “What?” I ask, bracing myself for whatever it was that he was going to tell me. “What is it now? Just spit it out.”
“Well,” Reg responds. “The thing is, she is announcing Raelyn as Ray’s fiancée, and Raelyn is agreeing.”
“What?” I hiss, shock rushing through me. “Repeat that.”
What? What the hell was Reg saying right now?
No. I must have not heard him correctly. I must have imagined what I thought I heard because there was no way that my flame would do such a thing.
“I’m sorry,” Reg sighs. “I witnessed it with my own eyes.”
“Witnessed what exactly?” I ask, trying not to crush the phone in my hand. “You’re going to have to fucking explain it to me.”
“It is exactly as I said,” he sighs. “When your stepmother returned she announced that Raelyn was Ray’s fiance and would soon be his luna.”
“Has she finally gone fucking crazy?”
It was one thing to announce that my flame was Ray’s fiance, but to even call her his luna when I was still standing. Was she insane?
Whatever. It didn’t matter if she was because I wasn’t just going to sit around and not do something about this.
“I’ll be there soon.” I tell Reg and hang up.
Sighing, I throw my phone down while my head spins in an attempt to make sense of what I was just told because honestly it was just all too ridiculous.
My stepmother was claiming that my flame was Ray’s fiance and my flame was agreeing?
Why on earth would she do that?
No, there was clearly something that I was missing. Something that happened between the time my flame disappeared and now, but what?
My brows furrow as I try to make sense of the recent events until Adeline shows.
“Osiris,” she calls, snapping me out of my head. “What’s wrong?”
Opening my mouth, I prepare to explain things to her, but suddenly something hits me and I close it.
“Nothing,” I respond instead. “But we will be leaving immediately.”
“Leaving,” Adeline repeats, her eyes widening. “What, why?”
“I know where my stepmother has taken Raelyn and Jean.” I tell her, starting to pack my things. “And I will be damned if I sit around waiting.”
“You do?” Adeline gasps, hope coloring her face. “Really? Where? Where are they?”
“You’ll see soon enough.” I respond, finishing my task and then heading into the living room. “Pack your shit and meet me downstairs in twenty minutes.”
“Wait!” Adeline hisses as I start to leave. “Where are you going?”
“I already said where I was going.” I tell her, continuing to move. “I’m leaving and I’m going home. If you want to stay here you can.”
I don’t bother waiting for her to say anything more before I head out and then downstairs where I call for a cab. Once it arrives, I turn to the building and feel my distrust growing.
Honestly, I wasn’t sure if my assumption was correct, but the timing was pretty damn convenient and that alone made me want to confirm myself.
Let me find out that they’ve been lying to me this whole time. I growl inwardly, climbing into the cab. I’ll fucking kill them.”
