Chapter 47 CHAPTER FORTY-SEVEN

Chapter 47 CHAPTER FORTY-SEVEN
CHAPTER FORTY-SEVEN

MAX’S POV

The carriages moved with speed, and my eyes were glued to the paper we had seen in the prisoner’s room, beside her bed. She kept calling Zaria before we left.

The paper was a clue to where Zaria could be, that’s the outskirts of our pack, and the entrance of the crescent pack, proving that the attacks are coming from the crescent pack.

“Stop the carriage!” Raymond yelled.

I lifted my head and peeped through the window. The incomplete building we saw was identical to the one depicted in the paper.

“Do you think she is in there?” I asked Raymond and he shrugged.

“There's only one way to find out” He said, stepping out of the carriage.

I followed behind him, with Ethan by my side.

I hate his presence, but I had to deal with him, for the sake of Zaria.

We got to the front of the building and stood for a while.

There were multiple guards around us, who would be guarding the building in case of any mayhem.

“Let’s go” Ethan broke the silence, walking ahead of us into the building.

Raymond and I followed behind him closely.

Entering the building, I smelt something burning, and smoke filled the atmosphere.

“What the fuck is this?” I asked in worry.

“Helppp!” We heard Zaria's voice, and some choking sound afterwards.

“Zaria!” We screamed simultaneously, running in the direction of her voice.

As we moved further, the atmosphere got denser with smoke, making us choke.

“Zaria!” I choked out, and she whimpered.

Fuck! She was losing strength, so I sped up my pace, until I found where the smoke was coming from.

“Zaria!” I whispered, with my heart pounding in my chest.

I squinted my eyes, to see through the smoke, until I found her tied to her burning pole.

“Shit!” I growled, running towards her.

Ethan pushed me off and ran to her, untied her quickly.

“Max!” She whimpered and fell into his hands.

Ethan’s face fell into a frown. “I think you are the one she wants,” he whispered.

I rushed to her side and hugged her tightly, forgetting that we were in a burning room.

“Max!” She whimpered again. “Save me”

After that, she fell into my arms unconscious.

“Zaria!” I panicked, checking her pulse rate.

I heaved a sigh, after realizing she was still breathing.

“Wrap up your bonding section, we are in a fucking burning room, and would turn into ashes, if we don’t get the hell out of here” Raymond yelled, covering his nose.

I carried Zaria in a bridal style, and we ran out of the building.

After taking Zaria to light, I saw how pale her skin was, she looked emaciated, my jaw clenched, and my veins popped.
If I get who did this to her, I would kill the fucker.

“She is looking pale,” Ethan spat out, glaring at me. “Do something to the person who made her like this”

With that, he walked ahead of us, until we reached the carriage.

I got into the carriage, with Zaria in my arms. I helped her tightly, not willing to get her out of my sight, not even for a minute.

She kept rubbing a spot on her neck, the spot was red, and it looked painful.

“What is this?” I asked, staring at it.

Ethan came closer, and looked at the spot, “fuck” he cursed under his breath.

“Is it something bad?” I asked, and he nodded his head.

“She was injected with venom, which would prevent her from remembering what happened within the last three days, even if she does remember it would be mixed, and likely wrong” He said, massaging the spot.

I looked up at Raymond, and he didn’t look surprised. He is the only one who knows where to get such harmful substances, because we need them for our enemies sometimes. Just then I recalled what Elara said. Could it be Raymond?

“Aren’t you surprised where the kidnapper got such a harmful substance from?” I questioned, not shifting my gaze from him.

“What the fuck do you mean by that?” He scoffed, looking uncomfortable. His countenance has changed, and he looked defensive when I hadn’t even accused him of anything.

“Don’t play dumb with me Raymond” I sneered at him. “You are the only one who knows how to get these harmful substances,”

He shifted in his seat nervously, tapping his feet on the floor of the carriage, without stopping.

“Are…you accusing me of something Max?” He stuttered, biting his bottom lip.
There is something strange about him, I can’t place my hands on it but I will soon enough.

“Should I?” I asked, drawing Zaria closer to me, as she made little sounds.

“Fuck you, Max!” He growled. “I have always been loyal to you, why would you even want to accuse me of shit like that?”

Raymond doesn’t get riled up easily, he is hiding something. Something dark and related to Zaria’s kidnapping.

“While you two are getting heated up with each other, I would like to make an observation” Ethan chimed in, rolling his eyes.

“What is that?” I asked, although I wasn’t planning on taking advice from a member of Crescent Pack. He would be the kidnapper even if I highly doubt that.

“Zaria most trusted maid…”

“Elara?” I asked, with a huff.

“Yes, where was she when Zaria was missing. They are always together and I think it’s kind of weird to think that she won’t know something about Zaria’s disappearance” He stated, and I burst into a round of laughter.

Elara has been working for the palace since I was a child, she is the most trusted maid in the palace and aside from that, she is an old woman.

“She is an old woman, dude” I laughed.

“So you think, she doesn’t look affected much about Zaria's disappearance,” He said, ignoring my laughter. “She could be the killer and kidnapper we are looking for.”

“She isn’t a killer!” I defended her, getting pissed at the unnecessary accusation of Elara. “She is like a mother to me, keep her name out of your mouth”

Ethan raised his hands in surrender and shifted aside.

Just then, Zaria’s body began to jerk, and her breathing became shallow.

“Zaria!” I panicked, as her heart rate dropped.
