Chapter 46 CHAPTER FORTY-SIX
CHAPTER FORTY-SIX
GWEN’S POV
Max, Raymond, and Ethan have left with some guards in search of Zaria, while I was left in the palace, thinking of what to do to get Max back.
Max had gone completely crazy because of Zaria’s disappearance; I couldn't help but feel jealous.
He had rejected all my attempts at seduction, neglecting how fair my skin is. I am way fairer than Zaria.
Zaria gets everything too easily, since I couldn't kill her, I pray her kidnapper does.
I had sent a raven to my mother, to send her a message. I need her, she is the only one who can help me get back what's mine.
“Fucking Zaria!” I sneered, her name sounded dreadful on my lips.
My door pushed open, and my mother ran in with worries in her eyes.
“I saw your message, you said it was urgent,” She panicked, walking towards me. “Is everything alright?”
I broke into tears, everything is worse, Zaria took my crown and has refused to give it back. My mother ran to my bed and hugged me tightly.
“What is the matter, my sweet girl?” She asked, patting my hair slowly, as my head rested comfortably on her breast.
I lifted my head and stared at her with teary eyes. “Zaria is missing” I sobbed. “You would have heard the rumors about the attack going on in the palace”
My mum nodded, with a confused look on her face. “This is good news, Gwen, Zaria is no more here to take what's yours, why does that bother you?”
“Max has not been himself since she left” I cried. “He doesn't even look at me no matter how much I seduce him”
My mum gave me a pitiful look, before cupping my face in her hands.
“My sweet girl, He is still in pain, you should come as a friend rather than a lover” She encouraged, still stroking my hair.
I can't pretend to want to be just friends with Max. I remember the first time I saw him, at the grand ceremony of all the Alphas and noble men, including their families.
My dad was a nobleman before he passed, we were invited, the day I set my eyes on Max, I fell helplessly in love with me. I knew he would be mine someday.
I was about to have him all to myself, but Zaria had to snatch him away from me.
“You know I can't be just friends with him, he's too special to me!” I cried, my mother never withdrew from the hug.
“I heard that there is a secret door in the palace, the Alpha is hiding a monster there” My mother said, and I nodded.
I wonder how much of the palace stories had reached the villagers’ ears, even when the palace servants, tries to keep the palace affairs a secret.
“If he isn't willing to marry you from his freewill, we could blackmail him to do so, and banish Zaria from the pack if she is ever found” My mum whispered.
I withdrew from the hug, and stared at her in silence.
“What are you talking about?” I asked, holding the hem of my duvet tightly.
“All I'm saying is that, if we can get into that room, and see his secret, we could use it to our advantage” My mum explained, with a smile at the corners of her lips.
I wiped my tears, and replaced my frown with a wide smile, my mother always knew what to do, Finally I can be with Max.
“I know where he keeps the keys to the room, I had been following him since Zaria’s disappearance” I Said, getting off my bed.
“Then what the fuck are we waiting for?” my mother scoffed.
There are guards in front of his chambers, but I'm always permitted to enter their room, because I am Zaria’s personal assistant.
Getting to their chambers, I instructed my mother to wait at a distance, as I tried to gain entrance.
“He isn't around,” one of the guards said, and I rolled my eyes at him.
“I know, He asked me to confirm something” I lied, and quickly pushed the door open, before they asked further questions.
The keys to the room were under his bed, I took it and headed to the secluded corridor with my mother.
“What if we find something that might kill us?” I questioned and my mother chuckled in response.
“The Alpha loves his pack so much, he would never put something harmful in the palace,” She assured.
Soon we were at the secluded corridor, it was covered in cobwebs, the painting had faded, and it smelt like dust.
“I hope we aren't making a wrong decision” I choked, trying to catch my breath and see through the dust.
“If you keep doubting this, you would never have him to yourself” She snapped at me, exhausted at my reluctance.
My mother is right, I inserted the key to the lock, and pushed the door open.
The door made some crack sound, before opening fully.
My mother and I walked in, only to see a woman sitting on the bed, with her dirty blonde hair covering her face, her fingernails long and wrinkled.
Fear gripped my throat, and I gulped hard.
“Who…are you?” my mother stuttered, walking slowly towards her.
The lady lifted her head slowly, her blue eyes stared at us in shock.
“Wolves!” she whispered. “I haven't seen any wolves, except those two men”
I assumed the two men were Max and Raymond. The lady must have been locked up for years, she looked excited to see us.
She stood up from her bed, and walked up to my mother, “you are beautiful” she replied, touching her face with shaking hands.
“Who are you?” My mother asked again, getting pissed at the Lady’s ignorance.
“Zaria!” she whispered. “Have you seen Zaria?”
My mother and I stared at each other in shock, How the fuck does this lady know who Zaria is?
