Chapter 32 The Man in Black 3
Liam’s POV
I held onto Elena as she slept. I thought that the man in black was after her but he didn’t come to her, well not yet.
That bastard had taken down my men and was still trying to kill my mate.
Anything, Josh? I asked through the mind link.
Nothing yet, but I will find him. I promise you.
Sorry about Julia.
Thank you, I will tell you if I find anything.
Okay. I left the link.
I sighed, I felt bad for Josh. Since I had known him he’s always been pushing himself.
When his wolf came forward he didn’t have any gifts and I knew he hated that, on top of that his mom died a year after my parents’ accident, leaving him just him and his dad.
Even after his mother’s death, he still came to see me. I made him my beta.
After that I knew the pack members would talk about not having a powerful beta but I knew Josh was capable.
I looked at Elena, as I stroked her beautiful raven hair. She looked peaceful now, I guess she was no longer having nightmares.
I kept thinking about what she said. She didn’t even touch the trees but yet they attacked her.
The trees were from our ancestral line and I didn’t know much about them but I knew there were from our fore fathers the lycans.
Mom never said anything about the trees attacking anyone but then again I was going through my stupid teenage phase that I barely ever listened to her.
I thought Elena was a wolf but her wolf energy was just really weak.
Maybe she was a hybrid like Connor said. That would explain why the trees acted that way.
You could be right. Connor yawned and walked around a bit before lying on the ground. It would explain why that man is after our mate.
Yes.
Hybrids were rare to find in our world, mostly because most packs were against it saying it was an abomination.
Maybe Elena was really a hybrid, the things that happened to her were like nothing any normal werewolf would have ever experienced.
“You are not sleeping,” Elena grumbled as she opened her eyes.
I didn’t even know she had woken up.
“I will, I was asking Josh about some things,” I said.
“Like?” she said with her big eyes staring at me.
I didn’t want to tell her about the man in black but I knew I couldn’t lie to her.
“We lost the man in black when we went north, it was a trap, he knew we were coming.” I looked at Elena expecting to look sad and afraid but she just looked at me and smiled.
“Then we will try harder and get him and beat that bastard so bad he won’t be able to walk.”
I laughed, I have been laughing a lot these days and it was because of her.
I knew that if we caught that bastard I was not just going to make him bleed, he was going to suffer.
I knew Elena had no killer instinct in her but I was going to be the darkness that she needed.
I kissed her before she could say anything again, I bit on her lip drawing a moan from her. Oh Goddess, the things I would do to hear that sound again.
I drew back from her, breathless and smiled.
She was mine and not going to let anyone take her away from me.
I pulled her closer and wrapped her in my arms. She fitted so perfectly.
I kept stroking her hair until her breaths became even.
The man in black was on my mind until my eyes closed.
I was woken up from my sleep with Josh calling my name through the mind link.
Liam, are you there? Can you hear me?
I can. I groaned as I got up. I looked out the window and it was already morning.
So I was searching for the man in black all night using Julia’s work and I finally found out where he is or where he could be.
Okay I’m on my way.
I moved away from Elena slowly and got up and put my shirt back on.
I kissed her on her head, she stirred but didn’t wake up.
I found a lead so I had to go. I wrote on a piece of paper.
I never thought I would ever be leaving notes for anyone not even Sarah but here I was.I didn’t want her to worry.
I told myself knowing it was a lie but still went with it.
I wanted to add something else, something like I love you but I didn’t want to scare her away.
I placed the note on her table and headed out to meet Josh.
“You are here,” Josh said with relief in his eyes, he looked like he didn’t sleep at all.
“Tell me what you’ve found,” I said.
“So, like I said I was following Julia’s work, her style of tracking down people and I found out where the man in black was going.”
He looked at me.
“And?” I hated the suspense.
“Liam, he’s heading to Silver lake pack, I’m sure of it but I don’t know why.”
It all made sense now. Alpha Derrick had been working with the man in black that’s how he knew about Elena and that stupid Alpha was probably selling people to him.
I knew I hated that Alpha but now I was going to kill him.
“Gather the warriors, let’s go,” I said.
“We need to get to Silver Lake now.”
“Yes, Alpha.” He rushed outside.
They had touched what was mine and now they were going to pay in blood.
