Chapter 74 CHAPTER 74
Rosaleen's POV
I knew why she'd looked familiar the day I saw her with Xavier now. She looked so much like Tamara. How did I miss that?
“I can tell you had me confused with someone else,” she said, smiling confidently and shaking Michael firmly.
“Yes. Tamara,” Micheal replied.
I was about to say I thought the same thing when she dropped the bomb.
“That's my sister. Fiona Dover.”
My mouth hung open. What? I looked at Alpha Michael. He wasn't shocked by the news.
“Yes. Jasper told me about it,” he said instead.
What was going on here? Tamara wasn't really Tamara? She's a Dover and Michael knew about it?
She faced me and I felt my heart freeze. I hoped she wouldn't recognise me.
“Oh Rosaleen,” she said, sending my heart into a flutter. “We've met before."
I wanted to deny it but it would only make me look suspicious. Michael was staring at me, as well as the other founder of the billionaires club I'd just met, Caspian.
I decided to be bold. “Hello, Flora. I didn't think I'd meet you here.”
I thought that was enough to tell her I was uncomfortable with the gentlemen knowing we knew each other. But she pressed on.
“Xavier and I broke up as you must know. Are you still in contact with him?”
I bit my lips. Bitch! She was definitely doing this on purpose. She was trying to make me look like the villain.
“No… we aren't in contact,” I replied, trying not to look at Michael.
“I didn't know you were close with Xavier,” he said.
I smiled weakly. “Just business.”
Then she decided to play another card by telling Alpha Michael good luck instead of congratulations before she left.
There was just too much to process. How the hell was I just finding out that Tamara was Fiona Dover randomly and it seemed that everyone was okay with it? Alpha Michael was watching her as she walked away. It seemed he wanted to speak to her about the things she had hinted at.
“She's a weird one,” I said, trying to sound calm.
His phone began to ring and he got distracted. I saw his brows furrowed.
“Hello?” He said, walking away.
I trained my ears on the call.
“Evelyn? Is that you?” He continued, walking further away.
My chest tightened. Did I just hear Evelyn? Did Evelyn just call him? He had mentioned her name for sure. What the hell was Xavier doing giving her a phone? I followed him but it seemed the call was very short.
“What's that?" I asked.
“A spam call,” he replied. “Give me a minute, please.”
I watched him walk out of the hall and I knew it wasn't a spam call. He was still actively looking for Evelyn. I reached for my phone and called Xavier. His phone rang repeatedly without him picking it up. I grunted in frustration.
How could he be so careless? If what we had dined came to light, we'd be ruined for good. We'd spend years in jail.
“Incompetent fools everywhere.”
I had just received worrisome news about Tamara and I was yet to recover from it. Perhaps getting rid of them totally would be my best shot.
One more chance.
I sent a text. If I didn't get a response in an hour's time, I'd have to change my plans.
‘Evelyn called Michael. You have to change your location’.
I sent the message and deleted it from my phone immediately. Alpha Michael was gone for too long and I could see Flora standing at a short distance looking at me with stubbornness in her eyes. She was inviting me and I wasn't going to decline it.
I walked up to her and her smile broadened. She sipped the wind in her glass cup.
“Congratulations, Rosaleen,” she said again. “All your dreams came true.”
I didn't pretend I was pleased to see her anymore. “I don't know what the hell you are trying to do, Flora. But I'm warning you right now, stay away from me.”
She giggled and smiled. “What are you talking about, Rosa? Aren't you pleased you finally have Alpha Michael?”
“Did Tamara send you to do this? You are trying to link me with Xavier, so that I'd lose Michael? I also know your secrets. I know that you have double lives.”
She snickered. “I know worse things about you, Rosaleen. Things that when the public hears about, they won't be bothered about my duo lives.”
I knew she knew Marcus. I wasn't sure she was talking about his death or not but she was right. She knew too much about me. Tamara too. I had to find a way to get rid of them no matter what.
“What do you want? What's your deal with me?” I asked.
“I want to hear the truth, Rosaleen. Did you convince Xavier to leave me and to kidnap his sister?” Her eyes burnt with playful wickedness. She was nothing like Tamara.
“How can I do such a thing? Xavier and I only spoke business. Nothing more. And everyone knows Evelyn and her step brother were having an affair.”
She scoffed and sputtered some drink. “Oh spare me that bullshit, Rosaleen. Business? I'm not dumb.”
She leaned closer.
“I know you set up Marcus and sent him to jail, Rosaleen. When he started speaking, you sent someone to kill him.” She smiled. “Watch out, my dear. Not long from now, I'll prove it all and you'll spend the rest of your miserable life in jail.”
My mind went blank and I felt some ringing in my ears. She knew too much. This tiny woman standing in front of me was too dangerous.
“So enjoy the party while you can. I’m coming for you. For Marcus and for my sister."
She blew me a kiss, turned around and went to hook her arm with Alpha Caspian's.
I needed Ignatius in New York. He had to get rid of these Dover girls before they ruined me.
