Chapter 106

Hunter.

"I'm sorry to say this, Hunter, but are you surprised that Brenda did something like this? I mean, putting aside the fact that I don't like her, I still know her well enough to know what she's capable of and from the very beginning, I did tell you that I was certain that she had something to do with this," Damon said.

He was surprised that I was still finding it unbelievable that Brenda was capable of going that far just out of jealousy. According to him and Aurora, it's not something that comes to them as a surprise because it's how Brenda has always been but to me, it's a surprise because I believed that she was smarter than that.

"You don't seem to get it, Damon. Brenda may not be the most perfect person in the world but I believed she had a really good side and I just didn't expect her to go so far all in the name of jealousy and desperation. I can understand that she doesn't want Helene anywhere around us anymore because she feels threatened by her but going as far as entering an enemy's territory is unjustifiable, bro and I just can't believe it," I responded.

Aurora rolled her eyes.

"I don't see the point in repeating over and over again that you don't believe something that you've already confirmed for yourself happened. Your girlfriend is a psychopath that is capable of anything to get rid of anyone that she feels is a threat to her and the sooner you swallow that pill, the sooner you'll get over it and come to a decision," she snapped with a bored look on her face.

"Aurora's right, Hunter. We need to decide this because we were only given three days to send a response to him and we need to figure out a way to avoid a fight or at least give him a very strong reason why we can't send her back," Damon said and I agreed with him.

"So are you sending her back or are you not sending her back?" he asked.

"I have no intention of sending her back because earlier today I spoke with Helene concerning her father's decision and she certainly doesn't want to go back there because she's afraid of him. We all know Mikel has a terrible reputation everywhere, so you can imagine how horrible he has to be to the point where his daughter would rather die running than go back to him," I told them and although Damon didn't seem bothered, Aurora didn't look too happy.

"I don't want to sound like a terrible person here but if you two are going to be emotional about this, then I have to make sure that I remain as objective as possible because the situation that we are in is not pleasant and the last thing we need is to worsen things. I like Helene, I do but I'm not willing to sacrifice my people for her until I'm given a valid reason to," she voiced out and I understood where she was coming from.

"I can understand the reason behind your frustration Aurora and just like you, I also don't want my people to end up dying for something like this but do you think that I'm capable of sending her back when she doesn't want to go back there? She's my mate, Aurora and I need to protect her when necessary. I'm not just going to abandon her and leave her to her crazy father," I replied, trying to make her understand where I was coming from as well.

"It's great that you want to protect your mate but what are you going to tell her father? He might not even be aware of the fact that she's your mate and it's not like you can openly claim that she is since everyone else already knows you're with Brenda. So how exactly do you intend on refusing his offer with a valid reason?" she asked.

I sighed.

"In my opinion, I feel like you should push Brenda aside for the time being and just announce to Helene's father that you're her mate. It's not like he's going to try to force his daughter from leaving her mate's side and even if he insists on wanting her to come back home, you won't be obligated to send her back since you have every reason to keep her by your side," Damon suggested.

"It sounds like a good enough plan and it's also a pretty strong excuse to keep her here but the question is, will Hunter openly claim her as his woman and kick Brenda to the curb? Is he ready to deal with the aftermath of that decision?" Aurora asked and I chose not to say anything for a while.

"I'm just going to put it out there without giving a damn if it's going to upset you, Hunter, but if you seriously want to keep Helene here, then you have no reason to be considerate of Brenda's feelings since she's the reason why you even have to decide the first place. If she didn't foolishly go to report Helene's location to her father, we wouldn't be sitting here having this conversation," Damon chimed in, sounding rather upset.

"I don't care about how hurt and between she's going to feel but she brought it upon herself the second she foolishly met with him and I'm not obligated to care about her feelings and even if she's your girlfriend, sometimes you just have to make reasonable decisions and keep aside unnecessary sentiments," he vocalized sternly.

"I don't care what decision you choose to make but it's either one of these two options, Hunter. It's either you get ready to have Helene known to everyone as your mate and hurt Brenda's feelings or instead, we send her back home and Brenda gets exactly what she wants. The choice is yours," Aurora stated.

"I'm going to leave you to your thoughts now since it seems as though you have a lot to think about but here is some advice before I leave, don't make a stupid decision that you'll regret cause if you do, it'll haunt you for a very long time," she advised in her weird way before getting up and leaving just Damon and I alone.

"I don't even see a reason why you should be thinking so hard about the right choice to make but let me ask you, something buddy, if you were to choose between both ladies now, who would you choose based on how you feel at the moment?" he asked.

"Helene," I responded without thinking.

Damon was one of the few people that I could be honest with and I saw no reason to deny or pretend like I was going to choose Brenda over Helene at this point.

I can't even explain how I feel about Brenda at the moment but if there's one thing that I'm sure of, it's that what I feel is not love but it's also not anger or hate.

"There you have it! That is your answer! Follow your heart and make the decision that you feel is best for you and try not to consider Brenda's feelings like you always do. It's about time you start letting her take responsibility for her actions instead of indulging her and sacrificing your satisfaction for her madness," he remarked and I didn't even bother arguing with him because he had a point.

I've always let Brenda get away with everything no matter how wrong she was but maybe this time, she needs to understand on her own that there are consequences to bad decisions.
