Chapter 105

Helene.

I was still busy checking out the rooms in the cottage and deciding which one of them I would be using for the time being but I was distracted when I heard a sudden knock on the door.

I didn't really think anyone besides Hunter knew I was staying here so I immediately thought that he had come back for something or had to change his mind, so I excitedly ran to the door to get it and as soon as the door came open, I was taken aback.

Standing in front of the door was an unfamiliar face of a woman that I'd never seen before and since I don't know that many people around here, I simply assumed that she was probably the servant that Hunter had sent to help me with anything that I needed.

"Hi there. You must be the servant bringing my things," I blurted out without thinking, and a deep frown formed on her face.

"Do I look anything like a servant to you?" she asked, visibly irritated by the fact that I assumed she was a servant and I couldn't help but wonder who she was if she wasn't.

"I'm sorry but I wasn't expecting anyone besides a servant to show up here and that is why I assumed that you were one. If you're not a servant, who are you exactly and how may I help you?" I asked and something about her aura just made me realize that she was the farthest thing from a servant.

I'm never one to look at a woman and be smitten by her but this lady in front of me was gorgeous and I'd be lying if I said I wasn't slightly intimidated by how incredibly pretty she looked. She had long black hair with eyes that looked like they couldn't choose between the color green and grey so they stayed in between and don't even get me started on how adorable and petite she looked.

She wasn't too short but I'm pretty sure I'm a few good inches taller than she is but even at that, she wasn't still very intimidating.

"I'm pretty sure you've heard of me but unfortunately or should I say, fortunately, we haven't had a chance to meet mostly because I didn't feel the need to meet you but now that things have gotten to this point, I think it's high time you and I have a conversation about how you're crossing the line with a man that already has a girlfriend," she responded and as soon as she mentioned the last word, I didn't need anybody to tell me who she was.

"You must be Brenda," I muttered, trying not to sound nervous even though I hadn't a clue how to react to her sudden visit.

I never really thought about how to confront Hunter's girlfriend if I should ever meet her so the fact that she was standing here in front of me and looking at me with so much contempt and disgust in her eyes already made me realize that she wasn't here to make friends with me or being nice with me and I should prepare myself to get an earful of insults and warnings.

"It's a good thing that you were at least told my name because it would be horrible if you knew absolutely nothing about me. Out of my way," she hissed sharply before pushing me away from the door and barging into the house.

Since I wasn't expecting to get pushed, I stumbled a little bit but thankfully, I was able to get a grip on myself and I didn't end up falling on my ass and embarrassing myself.

"Listen, Miss, I don't know why you came all the way here but you and I have no reason to speak to each other or have any sort of conversation with each other. I also don't think you should be here neither do I think you had any right to push me out of the way and barge into a place that I'm temporarily residing in," I told her calmly, hoping she would be reasonable enough to just leave peacefully because I didn't have the energy to deal with this right now.

"Aww, baby girl thinks she and I don't have anything to talk about. Do you believe the rubbish you just said or are you trying to pretend like the fake bitch that you are?" she asked.

I frowned.

"I'm going to have to ask you to mind the language you use with me, Miss," I warned.

She scoffed. "The only people I use respectful language with are people who choose to respect themselves and know their place. I didn't approach you all this time because I thought you would be reasonable enough to know your place and do the right thing but lately, you've been overstepping your bounds and I just felt the need to come put you in your place just in case you've forgotten," she replied and I sighed.

"What exactly is this boundary that I'm overstepping and how do you intend to put me in my place?" I asked, genuinely curious to know what she came here to do.

As pretty as she is, I sincerely hope for her said that she didn't come all the way here to get into a fight with me because that would be very embarrassing on her part and even though I can understand the reason behind her anger, I still don't think that I'm the one she has to speak to and if I'm being honest here, her reaction isn't going to make me change my mind about wanting Hunter.

"You knew from the very first day you stepped foot in this place that I was in the picture and that I've been in the picture for a very long time and instead of respecting yourself by keeping your hands away from my man, you dared to get greedy and want him. I'm not saying I don't understand you because Hunter is gorgeous and any woman in her right mind would want him but for your own, keep your hands off my man,"

"He and I have been together for over ten years and our relationship isn't going to come to an end because of being no good whore like you who ran away from home like a bratty fool and is even shameless enough to stay in a place where she's unwanted. If you have any pride as a woman, go back to wherever the fuck you came from and don't interfere in my relationship," she warned and her use of harsh words was quite shocking to me.

"Has anyone ever told you that for somebody who has such a pretty face, the words that come out of your mouth are vile and unnecessary? I get that you have a problem with me but can't you make a point without the unnecessary insults?" I asked.

"Oh, now you want to fault me for using vile words when you're the one that's being vile? I mean, what kind of woman attempts to steal a fellow woman's man just to satisfy her selfishness? Haven't you for once thought that Hunter and I were really happy before you showed up and that you're nothing but an intruder in our relationship? Have you no shame as a woman?" she asked but before I could respond, she cut me off.

"Wait, it may seem as though I'm making a mistake by referring to you as a woman because you're nothing but a child that doesn't understand the simple decency of knowing her place and staying away from someone else's man," she uttered and I was already tired of this.

"Okay fine, Grandma. If you're done going on and on about how I don't have the decency of staying away from your man, are you going to leave now and let me be at peace? Cause you see, I can't bring myself to rate somebody who has no shame and if the only reason you came here was to ramble on and try to insult me, then I have to break it to you that you've wasted your time,"

"I'm not interested in listening to anything else that you have to say so do me a favor and just leave here now before I get really mad," I said to her, hoping for her sake that she would listen.

Unsurprisingly though, she doesn't move an inch from where she stood. Instead, she crossed her arms across her chest and the expression on her face turned into a more scary one.

"Listen, little girl, I don't know who you think you are or how important you are in this story but let me break it down to you in the simplest way that I can, I will never let you have peace if you dare to come between Hunter and I. To you, I may just sound like a crazy girl but you better believe that I'm capable of doing anything to anyone who messes with me and if you don't know your place soon, I'm going to make you realize it in the worst way possible," she threatened with a murderous look in her eyes.

"I'm not afraid of you, Miss Brenda. Don't throw empty threats at me," I retorted, trying to look as nonchalant as I could even though her words and the look on her face were seriously creeping me out.

She smirks. "Continue overstepping your bounds and find out for yourself if my threats are simply empty or if I'm capable of making your life hell. Stay away from Hunter and go back to whatever rat hole you crawled out from or you'll be sorry!" she hissed, using her shoulders to hit me hard as she walked back to the door and out of the house.

As much as I hated this sort of drama, I still had no intention of backing down for her and she can keep wailing for all I care.
