Chapter 107

Helene.

"Did you just say Brenda was here or did I hear you wrong?" Mia asked confusedly.

"You didn't hear wrongly, Mia. She showed up suddenly yesterday and as you can probably already imagine, she didn't come here for a cup of tea and a friendly chit-chat," I replied.

"Let me guess, did she threaten you to leave her man alone if you don't want her to do something crazy to you? Did she go off like a mad woman, calling you all sorts of names to rile you up and yelling about how you're nothing but an intruder?" she asked.

"How'd you guess? Is it something she does very often?" I asked, surprised by how accurate Mia was with her guess.

"Let's just say you're not the first girl that is getting threatened by Brenda and she usually never changes what comes out of her mouth. She's just that predictable," Mia answered and I shook my head.

"The worst part of everything was that when she showed up at first, I mistook her for a servant and called her one without thinking and that must have made her even more upset cause the look she had on her face was honestly scary," I mentioned and Mia chuckled.

"I'm not trying to scare you by saying this but remember I've always told you that Brenda is not a normal person in the sense that she's very crazy when it comes to anything related to Hunter and she's capable of going to any lengths to hurt whether she considers as a threat," Mia said.

"You still haven't told me what exactly the story is between you and her because you talk like you know her so well and like she has done something horrible to you at some point. Aren't you going to spill the tea on what happened between both of you?" I asked, genuinely curious to know what could have happened between them since Mia never had anything good to say about her.

"I just told you that Brenda is quite predictable especially when it comes to the things that she says whenever she's upset and the reason why I know just how predictable she is, is cause you're not the first person who is getting threatened by Brenda and let's just say that I've also gone through that phase with her," she explained.

"Does she also go around threatening people over things that don't involve Hunter?" I asked.

"Not exactly. The only time you can see Brenda react like a crazy woman is when it has to do with Hunter but if it doesn't have anything to do with that man that she's so obsessed with, then you're hardly going to get a reaction out of her," she answered and I'm quite confused as to how Mia could have been involved with Hunter.

"So you used to be involved with Hunter or did she just go crazy for no sensible reason?" I questioned, even more, curious about what the story was.

"Honey, the only involvement I have with the Alpha is my job as one of his guards but anything else besides that is an absolute no-no for me. The truth is, Brenda has always been insecure mostly because of how she has always been bullied because of her father's crimes and how that broke up her family and she tends to overreact at the slightest issue,"

"She has this mentality where she feels like everyone in the world is after her, nobody genuinely likes her and all they want to do is just mock her and see her fall so whenever things just seem fishy to her, instead of asking the right questions to confirm, she chooses to go off instead and conclude that whatever she thinks is the absolute truth," Mia explained.

I may not really know the kind of person Brenda is but from the conversation that I had with her yesterday and how she just said things, I can already picture that she's the kind of person that believes that the world is against her and is after her happiness. I can't exactly judge her for that since I don't know her and for some reason, I pity her.

"So I'm guessing that she misunderstood your relationship with Hunter and instead of talking to you about it, she probably threatened you," I said and Mia chuckled.

"Threatening me was the least of it, Helene. Do you know how many innocent girls have suffered the wrath of crazy Brenda? Why do you think that not many women go anywhere near Hunter and most of them either have a huge crush on Damon or his brother, Dre? Even if you admire Hunter as an Alpha with no sort of feelings involved, you're still going to get cooked should Brenda find out. That's just how bad she is," Mia explained and I shook my head in disbelief.

"Were you and her close friends?" I asked.

"Brenda and I grew up together, alongside Keisha, who is almost as horrible as Brenda. We used to call each other best friends growing up so the last thing I expected from her was for her to think that I wanted anything to do with her boyfriend just because I happened to be working for him. Thanks to Keisha's trickery, she ended up misunderstanding a conversation between Hunter and I so because of that, she called me an ingrate, said I betrayed her trust, blah, blah, blah," she answered.

"I didn't think Keisha was that bad since she never tried to do anything to me when I was in prison and maybe her innocent face with me because she doesn't look like a terrible person," I voiced out and Mia scoffed.

"I never liked Keisha from the very beginning because she was always acting weird and everything I did was a problem to her. I feel like she and Brenda fit each other perfectly because they are both wicked and selfish and I wouldn't underestimate them because believe me when I say that they have the most disgusting thoughts in their head. The only thing that differentiates Brenda and Keisha is that one acts without thinking while the other one is as cunning as a fox," she explained and I sighed.

"So in other words, I should be worried about whatever that crazy lady said, is that it?" I asked.

"I wouldn't exactly say you should be worried but I would advise you to be careful because there's nothing she's not capable of and at this point, things are looking good in your favor and she knows this which means that she is not going to rest until she finds a way to turn things around. She knows that nobody likes her around here so that is making her even more desperate," she advises and I understood what she meant.

"To be honest after what I saw yesterday, instead of being scared of her, I actually kind of pity her because I could sense that she was desperate but I'm not exactly going to let her have her way just because I pity her. It was quite obvious that she wasn't a good person but for some weird reason, it felt to me like all she needed to do was just stop trying to threaten everyone thinking she was all that and maybe her life wouldn't be so complicated and people would like her more," I mentioned to Mia, who stared back at me like I'd grown another head.

"I normally don't preach hate but you better not pity her because she's not worth your pity and if she had her way, she's even capable of erasing you from the face of the earth just to keep you away from Hunter. Hate her and avoid her but don't pity her. That's the first rule on how to deal with Brenda," she hissed and I laughed at how serious the expression on her face was.

We decided to talk about something else since I'd personally had enough of talking about Hunter's girlfriend but in the process of talking, we were interrupted when we heard a knock on the door.

"Are you expecting anyone?" Mia asked.

"No, not exactly," I replied, getting up to go see who it was at the door.

"What if it's Brenda again and she's here to finish what she started yesterday?" Mia joked and I rolled my eyes.

"She wouldn't dare," I responded with a laugh before opening the door and meeting Aurora's eyes.

"A…Aurora," I called out nervously, surprised to see her here since she was the last person I thought would show up.

"Hello Helene," she greeted with a small smile that I noticed didn't reach her eyes and I couldn't help but feel nervous since Hunter already mentioned earlier that she wasn't in agreement with his decision to let me stay here which means that her visit could only mean that she's here to kick me out.
