Chapter 103

Hunter.

"Surprised to see you here, Dre. I thought you no longer concerned yourself with affairs of the pack," I remarked as soon as I noticed that Damon wasn't alone.

"Correction buddy, I attend to the affairs of the pack but only when it involves things that interest me. I'm not obligated to concern myself with every situation that goes on here, my friend," he responded and I rolled my eyes at him.

"I expected you to say something like that and thankfully you didn't disappoint. Anyway Damon, what do you have for me?" I asked, not bothering to get into an argument with him because I had more important things to worry about.

"That should have been the first thing you asked as soon as you came in but no, you two idiots just had to try to get at each other and it's getting frustrating to have to deal with both of you bickering like the children. Oh well, as you instructed me to, I invited Keisha for a one-on-one so that I can confront her concerning what you asked and she's currently locked in my office, waiting to be interrogated," Damon replied and that was exactly what I needed to hear.

I had asked him to invite Keisha without allowing her to suspect anything because I knew that if I had invited her, she would have immediately informed Brenda, and I didn't want Brenda to suspect that I had any intention of questioning her friend.

The reason I decided that I needed to question Keisha was because, after I got the letter from the Blue Moon Pack Alpha, I found it very suspicious that he figured out that his daughter was here even when nobody knew who his daughter was and in the process of thinking about it, I recalled the video that Mason had shown to me a few days earlier, where Brenda and her mother were caught by a drone at the southern border, after their supposed visit to a northern pack.

I've never actually known Brenda to have any business with any pack in the North which is why I found it very suspicious that only a few days after she returned, Helene's father sends a message directly to me that he wants his daughter back and it just seemed to me like Brenda could be responsible for exposing Helene's location.

So the only way that I could confirm my suspicion to an extent before confronting Brenda about it, was by interrogating her friend because I know she and Keisha share everything and I'm pretty sure that Keisha would know the truth even though it's not going to be easy to get her to tell me the truth.

"So does anyone care to explain what is going on here to me? I'm still a little bit confused as to why this is even happening," Dre inquired.

"Hasn't your brother briefed you yet?" I asked.

"He did tell me that there's somebody in his office who needs to be questioned but he didn't say anything else because apparently, whatever is going on here it's top secret and I need to ask you if I want to find out," he replied and I'm impressed that Damon didn't spill to his brother and instead maintained his loyalty to me.

"Since the person in question is Keisha, that means whatever this is all about has something to do with your lovely girlfriend and I can't help but wonder what exactly would make you do something like this when you know how your crazy girlfriend is going to react," he added and honestly, Dre doesn't have to do much to get on my nerves because he just naturally has that attitude that annoys me to no end.

"Just because she's Brenda's friend does not mean that I can't have her questioned if I need some information. Besides, this isn't related to anything that concerns you so why are you even bothered?" I retorted but before Dre could respond, Damon chimed in.

"If you two are itching to fight, why not hold on until we're done with what we came here for? That girl is going to wake up anytime soon and we wouldn't want her to alert her friend that something is wrong before we're even to get something out of her, would we?" he said, snapping me out of my urge to go off on annoying Dre.

"Let's get to it," I responded and Damon escorted both Dre and me back to his office.

"I don't understand what you're asking me, Alpha. I know nothing about where Brenda went with her mother and I can't answer your question if I don't know anything," Keisha denied and I wasn't surprised by this.

When Dre, Damon, and I arrived, we already saw her trying to get across to somebody that I assumed was Brenda but fortunately, Damon had done the needful to make sure that she wasn't stable-minded enough to connect to anyone through a mindlink.

"I didn't bring you here because I wanted such a response from you, Keisha, and I wouldn't be asking you this if I didn't already have a solid reason to believe that Brenda and her mother had visited a northern pack. Now, what I want you to tell me is simple. I know Brenda has been your best friend forever and there is nothing she does that you're not aware of. So, how about you choose to be honest with me by telling me the exact place they had gone to and why they went there?" I demanded as calmly as I could.

I contemplated for a while on whether or not torturing her with actually dancing get her to tell me what I wanted to know but then I remembered that Keisha wasn't the kind of person who would break simply because of torture but she had other weaknesses I was aware of and that is exactly what I plan on using to get her to speak.

"I already said this previously and I'm going to repeat myself Alpha, the only thing Brenda told me was that she was going to stay with her mother for a few days but I know absolutely nothing about her trip to you anywhere in the North, so I cannot answer your question because you're asking the wrong person," she replied adamantly and I sighed.

"Listen, Keisha, we respect the fact that you are loyal to your friends, but you do realize that lying to the Alpha is a very huge crime, and if you don't want to get punished for something that has nothing to do with you, tell the truth and make things easier for yourself or prepare to suffer the consequences on your own," Damon chimed in, also speaking calmly since we wanted to do things the easy way.

Dre wasn't saying anything because he did not agree with our easy method of interrogation and according to him, we weren't going to get anything out of her by simply asking her repeatedly.

"I stand by my word that I know absolutely nothing about what you're talking about, and I have nothing else to say besides this," she replied, and that was when I knew she didn't deserve an easy way out.

"Alright then, suit yourself, but you better keep in mind that I allowed you to make things easy for yourself, but you chose the difficult way out, and I'm not responsible for whatever happens next," I told her with a tight-lipped smile before signaling Dre and Damon and all three of us leaving the room.

"Are you going to leave her there like that?" Dre asked impatiently.

"I'll have Mason secretly take her to the punishment room. Has her family been brought in?" I asked Damon.

"I sent my men to pick them up earlier and they're currently in the waiting room," he answered.

"Good. Bring her family in to join her once she's transferred to the punishment room. Maybe when she sees her family paying for her silence, she'll snap out of it and start talking," I instructed and Damon nodded in understanding while Dre had a surprised look on her face.

"Are you serious? You involved her family in this?" he asked.

"Aren't you the one that just said that my method of asking her for the truth calmly wasn't a good idea? Do you also happen to have a problem with this one?" I asked, staring at him with an unimpressed look on my face.

"Are you kidding me? Why would I have a problem with the idea that we should have gone with from the very start? I just didn't think that you had it in you to involve people's parents since you are usually Mr. Goody Two Shoes, who doesn't like to punish or involve innocent people. It's good to know you can sometimes still think like me," he replied, and something about the way you responded made me feel like he was subtly mocking me.

"I'm not exactly going to punish her parents because they have no involvement in this but I'm going to make her think that I'm punishing them as well just so she can speak up faster and I can finally confirm if my suspicions are true. So, don't ever say that I think like you cause you and I can never think alike." I fired back at him and Damon immediately facepalmed himself with a look of disbelief on his face.

"Remind me never to get involved in anything that you two are involved in at the same time because I honestly can't take this anymore. I'll let you guys know when Keisha has been taken to the punishment room but until then, just make sure you don't get into a physical fight," Damon hissed at both of us before walking away.
