Chapter 109 Untitled Chapter

Chapter 109 Untitled Chapter

The light was incredibly bright and coming straight at her at an incredible speed.

She tried to tug herself free from Samorah’s grip to escape from its line of fire but it was too late.

With a powerful burst of light, it collided with her and the last thing she saw was vivid yellow eyes staring back at her before she went down under.

The next time Rina blinked open her eyes, she saw nothing but white so bright it made her eyes hurt.

“Ow! Where am I?” She muttered, clutching her head in her palms.

She was in some vast hall and no matter what direction she looked, there were no walls. Just a sea of endless white and not a single soul in sight.

“Hello? Is anyone here?” She tried again, her voice scratchy like she hadn’t spoken in a long time.

Which was odd considering that she remembered quite vividly that she’d been in a cave with the healer before everything had turned black and she’d found herself here..

“What’s this place?” She asked in wonder, looking up at the hieroglyphics written on the ceiling.

“You’re awake. Good,” said a voice from behind her and Rina whirled around in surprise. She hadn’t even heard them walk up.

And no wonder. She didn’t even know what she was looking at right now.

Words couldn't describe him. The entity before her looked to be neither man nor woman but a perfect mixture of both. With pale golden hair, square chin and a white clipped dress draping lightly over a softly muscled body. But there was a hint of femininity that made him not totally masculine..

“Who are you?” Rina blurted, taking a step back cautiously.

She wasn’t armed and if this creature was dangerous, she had nothing to defend herself against it.

The being cocked his head. “You may call me Leall. It’s nice to meet you, once again.”

Rina’s eye hrow raised in surprise. Once again? She had never met this person before. And how did he even know her name? She was pretty sure she hadn’t said it since she found herself here in whatever this place was.

“What’s this place?” She asked the stern looking man with a diamond moon embedded in his forehead. “Is this heaven? Did Samorah manage to kill me?”

Leall didn't bother to answer her questions. Instead he snapped his fingers and suddenly the eerie white room disappeared to give way to sunshine and trees.

Rina blinked her eyes dazedly. It seemed like such a long time since she had felt the warmth of the sun on her skin, it was exhilarating.

“Seriously, what is this place? And who are you?” Rina asked in puzzlement.

“I am one of the moon goddess’ guardians and this is her realm.”

Rina’s mouth dropped open in shock before she rapidly closed it. “The moon goddess? I’m in her realm? How? Why? Where is she?”

She looked around as if hoping to find the supreme ruler of the werewolves hiding behind one of the trees.

Leall continued walking, causing her to run after him. “The moon goddess couldn't meet you herself so she sent me to you. I hope you don’t mind?”

“Of course not.” Rina was still awed by the fact that somehow she had been noticed by the goddess. After years of feeling worthless and someone of lesser importance, here she was standing in the home of the goddess.

“W hat did she want you to tell me?”

“She wanted me to show you this.”

He snapped his fingers again and the surroundings changed once more. Suddenly instead of warmth and cool breeze, there was suddenly chaos and destruction.

Fierce fires burned around them and inhuman creatures appeared snarling and growling as they struck down people both young and old with otherworldly strength.

There were screams, loud piercing cries as mothers held their dead children, fathers wept over their sons and lovers died in each other’s arms.

The scene was sad and heartbreaking.

And all the while the world burned, a dark creature draped in shadows and blood and sitting upon an equally dark, grotesque creature let out a victorious roar.

“What’s this?” Rina whispered. “Who’s that?”

But she already knew even without him answering. That was the sorceress and this scene was the future, what the world would become if she succeeded in her plans.

She could see dead bodies littered around, eyes staring unseeing into the sky. And as she looked, she spotted familiar faces; Cain, Seth, Sara, Kai.

“No, no no no. No!” She shouted, waving her hands like she could erase the images from existence if she tried hard enough. Those were her friends, people she cared about… people she had made memories with.

She couldn't bear the thought of anything happening to them. She couldn’t.

Leall’s face was expressionless. “This is the outcome of the dark witch’s victory, Rina. Everyone dies. Everyone.”

“But can’t it be changed?” She cried desperately. “ Isn’t there a way to stop the sorceress?”

“There’s only one person in this world whose destiny is to stop the sorceress. That person is you, Rina.”

“But how do I stop her?” She asked, confused and frantic. “She’s spent years honing her powers and skills and I… I can’t even shift anymore.”

“You’ll have to reach deep inside you, Rina, to the power that lies unawakened. That’s the only way to stop her. All three versions of you have to be in unity; the hybrid, the wolf, the soul. If it fails, the world will fall.”

Rina thought back to the animosity between her hybrid and her wolf. The two despised each other intensely.

How was she supposed to unite two powerful entities who had rather watch the world burn than work together?
