Chapter 110 Untitled Chapter

“There isn’t much time,” he continued. “But I have something to give to you. From the moon goddess herself. It’s a key.”

He dipped his hands into his shawl and brought out a small stone.  An obsidian one with a single purple gem embedded in the middle.

It looked familiar but she couldn’t figure out where she had seen such a thing before. Perhaps in the spiritual realm?

She took it hesitantly. “What does it unlock?”

“That I do not know.”

“You do not know or you cannot say?”

His lips twitched, showing an expression for the first time. “I’m sure you already know the answer.”

Rina fingered the stone, her mind racing. What could this possibly be? The stone looked ordinary except for the gem that glinted like purple pools when the stone was turned. It was a very unusual key, that was for sure.

She chose not to overthink it though. She had a feeling she would know the answer soon enough.

She cleared her throat.

“Is there any advice you can give me about unifying my hybrid and my wolf? They really despise each other and I … I don’t know what to do.”

He just smiled enigmatically. “It’s not for me to give you advice, moon chosen. But there’s someone you can meet who can give you the advice you’re looking for.”

Rina’s face that had already fallen, lighted up again eagerly. “Yes? Who’s this person? Are they here?”

His reply came instantly. “They’re in the Earth realm. You know them very well.” He frowned. “Now I must say goodbye.”

Before Rina could even protest, the world tilted and she found herself hurling through space and time. Unlike the first few times when she found herself falling through a vortex, she didn’t scream. She was already becoming used to it.

Suddenly with a loud plop, she fell straight through the open ceiling and back into the real world.

She groaned out loud at the painful jarring as she occupied her body back. Unlike falling through vortexes, it was no less painful.

The sound of fighting slowly started filtering through her ears, claws tearing and fangs snarling and she realized she was back at the cave where she’d been before she had been pulled by Leall.

In the back of her mind, she wondered if she’d ever see the goddess’ warrior again.

Then she grabbed one of the daggers scattered carelessly on the floor and joined the fray.

Cain and his men were working hard to subdue the sorceress’ men who had the added advantage of having the shadows fighting on their side.

One of the said men saw her standing and came for her and her body reacted before she could even think, side stepping his attack then spinning to stab the knife into his thigh.

He howled loudly in pain and fell to the floor clutching his leg. Rina didn't waste time on him and moved to the next person.

Just then she and Cain made eye contact. He had just finished off three men at once and was moving on to the next person when he saw her and started coming towards her. But suddenly his steps faltered and his eyes widened.

“Rina watch out!”

He tried to run but he was too far away.

The dagger Samorah had thrown straight at Rina’s back hurled through the air at an incredible speed.

The fighting slowed like in a slow motion picture.

The biting and  snarling and tearing…

Everyone paused to stare at the scene and at the enchanted blade that was quickly finding its way to Rina’s when suddenly she turned and caught it.

Caught it with her bare fingers, right in front of her face.

Crimson red blood dripped from her hands from where she gripped it.

Everyone was flabbergasted; they'd never expected her to be able to catch the dagger, blade first. And an enchanted one at that. Wasn’t she supposed to be powerless, without her hybrid or wolf?

Then they looked at the stone table where her wolf once lay and back at her

Wait a minute…

Rina herself didn't yet know what was going through their minds.

Instead her dark eyes were fixed on Samorah who had already realized the deep shit she was in.

“Do you want to know what they do to back stabbers, Samorah?”

“No, no please don’t—“

Rina was barely listening. “I have been waiting a really long time for this.”

As soon as she said those words, greedy red flames appeared on her hands and as Samorah tried to run, blasted a hole straight through her middle.

Water dripped down from the ceiling.

But the world inside had frozen.

That kind of power…

Raw intense power that blasted the witch’s apprentice to smithereens, they had never seen it before and it made them scared. They began to back away from her.

And that wasn’t even a fraction of the power she was truly capable of.

Cain and his men sensing an opening did not hesitate. Rina’s display served to confuse and frighten the healer’s men and they capitalized on that.

As the witch’s men began to scramble and run in fright, Cain and his men chased after them and with terrifying efficiency and military precision, they began cutting them down one by one.

They weren’t risking any of them escaping.

The battle was over before it even started and Tabitha seeing this, ran over to where Rina stood, glancing down at the fallen witch in silence, her back to the chaos.

“Rina, you are hurt.” The ghost witch stated in concern.

Rina didn't answer immediately. And her voice when it came sounded flat, toneless.

“Did I do the right thing? Do you think she’ll come back like the last time?”

Tabitha gazed down at the dead woman and the earth sized hole in her middle. There was no way that the witch was surviving that kind of blast.

Anyone could see that. But somehow it seemed that Rina needed some kind of assurance and she tried to provide that.

“Whatever you’re thinking in your head, stop it. She tried to attack you and you simply defended yourself. It isn’t your fault that she's in this position. I want you to know that, Rina. She didn’t leave you any choice. You did what you had to?”

“But was it the right thing? Killing someone? Another soul?”

“Samorah didn't have a soul. She sold it.”

Rina’s lips twisted bitterly. “Are you so sure about that, Tabitha?” She asked because right after she’d thrown the flames she had seen a small orb of light lifting off Samorah’s chest and drifting off to the sky.

First it had been the Harper twins, now Samorah. How many more would have to die? How many more would she have to kill before this war ended?

She didn't want to be a killer, but it seemed like she had no choice.

It was the rule of the world she had entered.

Kill or be killed.

Just then Omaron joined them and her sharp voice captured her attention.

“Rina, you’ve gotten your body back!”
