Chapter 77 - We are going to Paris!

Lilith

I thought we had the perfect life. I was mistaken. Deep down inside each of us there was a monster just waiting to be let out. I laughed with the others while we reminisced about the past, but my laughter was empty. I felt empty. I felt drained after what we had just been through and it all happened so fast that it almost felt like it was just a bad dream.

The missing pieces of art and furniture in my house, however, reminded me that it was all reality. It wasn’t just reality, but it was mine. I have actually gone through all of it. My mind spun as I wondered if it would happen again. How were we supposed to live happy lives if other wolves continued to try and take what was ours?!

I put my arms around Ezra’s neck and before I could help myself, the tears started to run. It had all finally caught up to me. We could have lost our son forever. We could have lost our home! Ezra picked me up and carried me to our bedroom. He slipped into bed beside me and although I felt terrible for leaving Blanca and Carlo like that, I just needed to cuddle in his arms and forget the world outside for a moment.

His hand slipped up my leg and the fire inside me ignited. I wanted him. I didn’t care about the world outside. I wanted my mate to make love to me. I needed him to. I needed the security I felt whenever he did. I needed to feel safe. I breathed in his scent as he pushed us both to the edge and when we finally tumbled over, I felt so much better. I felt stronger and more focused.

After a good night’s rest, we returned to Blanca and Carlo’s to pick up our son. I had decided earlier in the morning while I searched for my shampoo that I wasn’t going to allow what happened to take over my life. I wasn’t going to sit in a bundle and cry and never get over it. I needed to be strong for our children, my mate, and our pack.

I needed to show them that life could go on. I needed to show it to myself more than them, but I could at least try and fool myself, couldn’t I? It was incredible to see our pack bounce back. All around me omegas were clean like normal. Pack members were beginning to repair the damage that was caused and the sight of the small flower bed that had been trampled caught my eye.

I tried to figure out what I could do to fix it, but I knew I needed to buy new flowers. I spent the morning trying to save what I could, and in the afternoon, Ezra and I went to buy some new flowers. After planting them, and taking a step back, I felt better.

Having that little garden meant the world to Ezra, which meant it meant the world to me. I planted a couple of extra flowers in memory of the wolves we lost over the years, which was part of my healing process. I have heard of people sending balloons to remember the dead and others using those Chinese lanterns, but I prefer flowers.

I knew Lilith was struggling. It pained me to see her go through all the worries she had. It was different for her. Blanca, Carlo, and I grew up as werewolves. Our packs did. Lilith was the only human turned werewolf in the entire group. Our lives seemed so brutal to her when it seemed normal to us. I would admit that my son being kidnapped wasn’t normal, but it happened.

Wolves were always fighting over territory, or mates. It was part of our DNA. It was scary as hell sometimes, but we all knew right from when we were little that this was the way our lives were. I could only hope that Lilith would pull through this. I wouldn’t survive if she left me. That was when I decided we needed some grown-up time.

Ever since our son was born, we have spent most of our time taking care of him. He was our first priority, which was great and all. We had neglected ourselves, however. I called Blanca to find out if she would take care of our boy for the night and then called my pilot. Lilith would be giving birth any day now and then our lives would be really full of babies!

I wanted to take her on a quick overnight date to Paris before the baby showed up. While Lilith was busy fixing our memory garden, I made the arrangements and the omegas made sure her bag was packed and in the car, before she even noticed. When I took Lilith to buy the flowers for the garden in the afternoon, I made sure Blanca and Carlo were ready and as soon as Lilith finished, I walked out onto the porch. Blanca’s SUV pulled up just in time and I grabbed Lillith’s hand.

“What’s going on?” Lilith looked confused as I grinned at her.

“Blanca and Carlo are spending the night.” Lilith looked confused, but she greeted them happily.

“Oh, okay…” Lilith was just about to call an omega to prepare their room when I grinned.

“It’s already been arranged. Oh, and we are going to Paris.” I pulled her into my arms as if trying to stop her from running away.

“We can’t leave! Our son has just come back home. We can’t leave him alone.” Lilith looked confused and tried to push out of my arms, but I didn’t let go.

“Our son is fine and he will have his uncle and auntie here. You and I are only going overnight. We will be back around lunch.” I nodded at Carlo, who was laughing. Picking Lilith up while she protested, I carried her to the car. I was going to sweep my mate off her feet like some romance novel hero if it was the last thing I did!
