Chapter 93 Bad weather
>>Nico
We both awkwardly walked in the forest looking at opposite sides.
Neither one of us said anything and I don't know what was going on in Asher's mind but mine was filled with fear. Not just any kind of fear, this one was very specific.
What is happening to me?!?
Why does my body feel this hot?!?!
I wanted to deny it. I kept shaking my head in denial but just denying it wasn't making the temperature of my body drop
Oh No...
It can't be
I gulped
Am I going into heat? Am I? Really? But that can't be... No...
I pursed my lips in horror as I subconsciously kept following Asher to wherever he was taking me. Clouds rumbled in the sky and the blue sky was soon shadowed by the dark fluffs.
Is this what it feels like when an omega is going into heat?
My eyes wandered around, looking at nothing in particular.
The thing is, to prove to the world that I wasn't an abomination and a male omega, I've always been given medicine. So, I've never had a heat cycle before. I took my medicine before entering the forest too just in case as well.
So why?
Why is this happening?
My heart started pounding and I opened my bag to get the pill box out. I took out a capsule and swallowed it.
It should help! It always has!
"The weather is looking bad," Asher said, "I won't be able to hunt in this weather and I doubt you'll be able to get anything to draw." He kept walking and I didn't pay attention to anything he was saying, "The forest can get extremely dangerous during the rain, even worse when there's a rain storm." He spared me a glance to see if I was listening and when he noticed I wasn't he turned away and didn't say anything after that.
We just kept walking as the wind picked up speed. I was so lost in thoughts of my own I didn't notice where we were going and I didn't come to my senses till the time the water droplets started dropping on my skin.
"Oh! Shit!"
The weather took a sudden turn for the worse, unleashing a torrential downpour that soaked the forest around us.
!!!???
What the hell!?!? When did the weather get like this?!?
Caught off guard by the sudden deluge, Asher and I exchanged hurried glances, our expressions mirroring a mix of surprise and dismay.
"We're almost there!" He said as he started running.
"Almost where?"
"The cave!" He yelled and I wondered if he talked about this while I was lost in my thoughts, "Come on!" The rain pounded down on us, saturating our clothes and plastering our hair to our skin.
Luckily, Asher was already taking us towards shelter, so we reached it within a few minutes.
"There!" He pointed at something and amidst the chaos, I spotted a dark opening in the rock formation ahead – a cave. It seemed like our best chance to escape the storm's fury. So, without hesitation, we sprinted toward the shelter it offered. Our breaths came in ragged gasps as we reached the entrance, ducking into the cave just as lightning split the sky with an electric crack.
!!!!
My skin stood up as the sky rumbled loudly and my heart skipped a beat.
My God...
Inside, the air was cool and damp, a stark contrast to the raging storm outside. The dim light filtered through the mouth of the cave, casting eerie shadows on the rugged walls.
>>Asher
We both stood there, staring at the storm outside as our heartbeats gradually returned to a more normal rhythm.
The air between us is awkward and Nico doesn't seem to want to talk to me. I couldn't help but steal a glance at him. The rain had left both of us drenched and his clothes clinging to his form in an alluring way. Strands of wet hair framed his face, and droplets of water glistened on his skin like precious jewels.
He gulped and I followed as his saliva went down his neck, making me lick my lips.
Caught in that moment, I was struck by how captivating he looked, despite the wild conditions. There was an untamed allure to him, a raw and unfiltered quality that drew me in. I may have been out of my mind for the most part but I remember how he protected me from that tiger and chose to stay with me.
He could have left but he chose to stay and even though it might be out of guilt, I don't care. All I care about is that he chose to stay with me.
He looked to the side, our eyes met, and I quickly looked away, suddenly self-conscious of my own thoughts. It was as if the storm had intensified the atmosphere between us, magnifying the unspoken thing that had been growing since our encounter.
I knew his wolf wanted mine, but something was stopping him.
At the opening ceremony, I stayed behind only to get some intel about his family. I couldn't find much but I did find that all of his family members were purebred werewolves with strong Alpha genes and Nico's the only one who isn't.
It's weird though, even if he isn't, why does it look like his family isolates him? They're elite class wolves so they're at all the parties but I've never really seen Nico there.
Even at the opening ceremony, he wasn't with his family. They barely exchanged a glance and even though I was far away from them, standing on stage, I saw the fear in his eyes.
I glanced at him, he was shivering a little. Well, the temperature has dropped so it's understandable.
I don't think Nico is ever going to talk about this on his own.
Should I initiate again?
I kept looking at him and he noticed, so he turned his face to look at me.
"What?"
This time I didn't turn away, "I asked you a question," I said softly
"..." He frowned and refused to acknowledge it but I still spoke.
"What is it?" I asked, "What did they say to you that you can't even follow your heart?"
He kept staring at me, it lasted for a few seconds, then he turned his gaze away.
"Nico," I stepped towards him but he stepped away.
"I'm cold." He turned around and made his way towards the fit pit someone had already set up once. It could be another hunter who came to hunt here some time ago but he or she had left some dry logs and spark stones there which Nico picked up to start a fire.
I didn't help him.
I just watched as he did his thing and the fire started.
The sound of rain echoed softly in the background, a soothing backdrop to our awkward silence. It was in this intimate setting, surrounded by the elements where I just admired him even more.
Nico was a capable independent person. He didn't even bother asking me for help and he got the fire going. And that just made him someone undeniably captivating, someone who had weathered the storm with grace and poise.
"Achoo!" He sneezed, then sniffled and I noticed he was shivering more now. The cold must have seeped into his bones.
My gaze turned softer.
Even as the storm raged on, I couldn't help but feel grateful for the unexpected turn of events that had brought us here. We were stuck here for as long as the rain wasn't stopping and that meant I could coax him into speaking up.
"You should dry your clothes," I said, "You don't want to get sick in the forest."
The rain had soaked us both to the bone, leaving us shivering in the confines of the cave.
He glanced back at me, contemplating my words. I don't know what it was that he had to think about so much but I could tell that a lot was going through his mind.
"Turn around," He finally said
???
I was not expecting that. We're both men, does it really matter?
I wanted to ask that but I didn't. I just turned my head around and looked away.
He made the decision to take off his wet clothes, that is enough for me. I turned my gaze away, respecting his privacy, but I couldn't help the rush of emotions that flooded over me.
As I looked away, my ears caught onto the noises. The sound of rustling fabric filled the cave as he began to take his clothes off and I won't lie, my heart rate quickened, a mixture of embarrassment and curiosity welling up inside me. I stared at the cave wall, my thoughts racing as I grappled with the unexpected attraction that had taken hold.
Ah, shit
It's just sounds!! Why is it getting me excited???
