Chapter 26
My blood boiled at the mention of that woman's name. I felt even more irritated when I saw the Alpha simply smiling while reading the letter. What could possibly be written in that letter?
"You know, Aryana is really intelligent. Even though she chose to live alone, she still cares about the Wound woods," he said with a smile.
"Why did she choose to live alone if she still cared about the castle? She should have stayed here," I retorted.
"It's a complicated story, Amelia. I understand her," he replied calmly.
"I don't know about you," I replied, feeling annoyed. Her smile towards me only fueled my annoyance.
Deep down, I wasn't jealous, just annoyed because Aryana could be an obstacle to my plans.
When Norman left, I couldn't resist peeking as Alpha Damien read the letter from Aryana. My eyebrows shot up as I read the sweet words expressing love for him. Why doesn't she stop the Alpha, knowing that I am his chosen mate?
"You're quiet," he remarked.
"Nevermind," I replied curtly.
"Are you upset, Amelia?" he inquired. "No. Why would I be upset?" I denied.
"Hmm, I think you're jealous. Am I right?" he asked with a smile.
I wanted to touch his face as he gazed at me. His smile was so sweet and his demeanor so gentle that he seemed like an angel, but in reality, he was a demon.
"I'm not jealous, I'm angry, okay?" I stated seriously.
"I think it's the same, Amelia," he said.
"You promised to wait for me and do everything to accept you as my mate. But now you're entertaining another woman. How do you expect me to feel?" I asked, annoyed.
"I just want to make it clear. I don't have any feelings for Aryana, and any kindness I show her is just normal treatment.
She's Norman's cousin, so I don't see anything wrong with that," he replied seriously.
I took a deep breath to calm myself. I regretted my outburst and apologized. I feared that he might distance himself from me and choose Aryana because I let my emotions get the best of me. My plans could be in jeopardy, and that was not acceptable.
"I apologize for my behavior. I understand that it may have seemed like I was enjoying the company of others, but I want to assure you, Amelia, that you are the only one I truly desire. I have no interest in Aryana and I will never choose her as my mate," he spoke in a deep, affectionate tone.
"I will patiently wait for you to be ready to become my Luna," he added.
Despite my anger, there is a part of me that feels guilty for not fully trusting him.
"If you can change my mind, Alpha," I replied.
"I will do whatever it takes, Amelia," he insisted.
After our conversation, we bid each other farewell and he escorted me back to my room. The next morning, I woke up early and prepared for the day. I took a shower, dressed up, and spent a few minutes admiring myself in the mirror. I couldn't deny my own beauty. Aryana couldn't compare to me. I refuse to let her ruin my plans with Alpha Damien.
As I left the room, I encountered Alice in the hallway, carrying a tray of food. I offered to help her take it to the Arena where the wolves were undergoing training.
"Hmm, I saw you talking to Alpha last night. I'm glad everything is alright," she said with a smile.
"Yes, he apologized to me, so we're okay now," I proudly replied.
"Hmmm, it's really you! Impressive!" she praised.
I exclaimed with a grin, "Troy made him so envious. He couldn't bear it, so he came up to me."
Amelia responded with a smile, "Your charm is unique, Amelia. I believe you are Alpha's vulnerability."
I sarcastically remarked, "He should definitely pursue you!"
I playfully added, "Just kidding," and chuckled.
Alice shook her head in amusement and smiled at my comment, and I reciprocated the gesture. However, as we stepped into the Arena, my eyes widened, and a surge of adrenaline rushed through my veins at the sight before me...
I witnessed their exchanged smiles, clearly indicating that Alpha Dior enjoyed conversing with her. For some inexplicable reason, I felt a pang of pain, but I chose to disregard it. As I observed their joyful conversation, annoyance consumed me.
"I suppose you're the one feeling jealous now," Martha playfully teased.
"I am not jealous!" I firmly replied.
"Are you sure?" he asked, teasingly.
"Absolutely!" I responded, irritated.
"Alright, just relax," Alice said with a smile.
"It's you, you're so aggravating. You're making me feel jealous even though I'm not," I retorted.
"I'm not making you, you're just being defensive!" she said, smiling.
"I am not defensive," I denied, and she simply shook her head.
Alpha Damien glanced at me, but I quickly averted my gaze. I didn't want him to think that I had been staring at him. I noticed Aryana looking at me as well, and at that moment, I wanted to provoke her. My blood boiled with determination.
I observed Alpha Damien approaching us, with Aryana trailing behind him like a shadow. I sighed and composed myself, ensuring that he wouldn't sense what I was feeling. So, I greeted him with a sweet smile. Aryana's smile vanished when she saw Alpha Damien smiling at me. I continued to smile sweetly at Alpha, as if enticing him. I will not allow Aryana to defeat me. She cannot ruin my plan to captivate the Alpha and make him fall in love with me.
Alpha Damien greeted me with a sweet smile, saying, "Good morning."
In response, I replied, "Alpha, it seems like you're having a good morning today."
He chuckled and replied, "Well, I did notice you, especially."
My stomach fluttered with butterflies as I tried to compose myself. I swallowed nervously at his words. However, when I noticed Aryana's frowning face, I shifted my attention to teasing her.
"Aryana, would it be possible for me to join the training?" I asked, diverting Alpha Damien's attention.
