Chapter 25
His eyes blazed as he stared down the vampire, yet he released him despite his seething rage. I couldn't help but feel guilty about what had transpired. Alpha Damien turned to me and inquired about my well-being.
"Are you alright?" he asked, his concern evident.
"Yes, I'm fine," I assured him.
Many of the guards were injured, but thankfully, no lives were lost. My heart sank as I gazed upon the decapitated heads of the vampires before me. Suddenly, memories of Alpha's merciless slaughter of my parents flooded my mind.
"He killed them without mercy! He cannot escape the sins he committed against my family!" my thoughts firmly declared.
That night, he summoned all the wolves from the Wound Woods to gather, as he had something important to share. The training would become more rigorous, and additional guards would be stationed to protect the castle.
"We must fortify the Bloody Scar pack even further. We will not allow our enemies to destroy us. The Wound Woods, especially the ancient wolf's fang, must be safeguarded. Our adversaries shall not take it from us," he declared solemnly.
After his address to the pack, he approached me. He grasped my hand and I gazed into his eyes. Memories of a haunting nightmare from my past suddenly flooded my mind, causing me to quickly avert my gaze before my emotions overwhelmed me.
A few moments later, he made his way to the wounded wolves in the treatment room. I could see their arms stained with blood from the vampire's bite. I held my breath, but strangely, I felt a pang of sympathy for the vampires who sought nothing but justice. In that moment, Conrad's name crossed my mind, and I couldn't help but feel curious about him.
"Why does everyone fear Conrad? Why is he being compared to you, the vampire?" I asked, my curiosity piqued.
"He is the Alpha of the Bloody Moon pack. But let's not dwell on him any longer, Amelia," he replied.
"Why not?" I inquired.
"Because I don't wish to be compared to him or anyone else. I hope you understand that, Amelia," he responded.
"Alright, I won't press the matter any further," I assured him.
A question lingered in my mind. As we made our way out, we passed by the sacred mirror where the fang was kept. I couldn't help but wonder about the extent of its power. Why did enemies and others attempt to steal it?
"Where will they take it?" I asked him.
"To a safer location, Amelia," he answered with a serious tone.
I followed him until we entered a room. I could hear him taking deep breaths before he spoke.
"The ancient fang cannot fall into enemy hands. It holds memories of my Father when he was alive, leading our pack as an Alpha," he explained solemnly.
"I will protect it with all my might, even if it costs me my life," he added.
"What if the fang is lost? What will happen to him? Will he perish?" I pondered to myself.
"Are you alright, Amelia?" he inquired.
"Yes, I'm fine," I replied.
I can't explain why I feel the urge to take that fang. Maybe I just want to witness his reaction when he realizes it's missing. I understand how much that fang means to him, it's crystal clear.
Then one day, I couldn't resist the temptation to sneak into the room where the fang was kept. I questioned whether it was the right thing to do, but I was desperate to cause trouble for the Alpha and watch him struggle. What if he was the one who ended up lost?
With caution, I entered the room and surveyed my surroundings. As soon as I stepped in, I noticed the fang floating inside a glass container. A smile crept across my face and I longed to touch it. However, my actions came to a halt when I suddenly heard footsteps approaching the door of the room...
I inquired sternly, "Why are you here, Amelia?"
I spun around, taking a moment before responding to his question. Quickly, I fabricated an excuse to justify my presence.
"I had a nightmare about a vampire stealing the fang. It left me anxious and concerned, so I came here to check if it was true. I couldn't resist observing," I fabricated.
He sighed in response to my explanation. Uncertain if he believed me, I maintained a composed facade while studying his reaction.
"Many individuals are intrigued by the fang because it's the only weapon capable of killing any formidable wolf, including a Lycan," he explained.
My mind pondered, "What if I used it against him?"
"To end all of this. But no, I won't let you perish without a struggle," I contemplated.
"That's why there's so much interest in it. However, don't fret because I'm willing to assist in safeguarding the fang," I offered.
"It's unnecessary. Don't concern yourself, Amelia. It's not your duty to worry about that," he reassured calmly.
"I insist, Alpha," I persisted.
He chuckled at my persistence and gestured for us to leave the room. We exited and strolled down the corridor towards the outdoors. Along the way, we spotted Troy engaged in a lively conversation with Romania.
Observing Romania's gradual recovery from the grief of Dylan's sudden demise brought me immense joy.
"I have no more worries," Alpha Damien remarked with a smile.
"What do you mean?" I inquired innocently, though sensing the underlying meaning.
"I must confess, seeing you and Troy conversing made me envious, prompting me to approach you. I couldn't bear the thought of you happily engaging with another man while we were at odds," he admitted.
I have to confess that I was excited by his words. It's clear that he's envious, but it hits differently coming from him. Why am I letting it get to me? No chance! His charming lies won't work on me.
"I don't want you to be with someone else, Amelia," he stated seriously, gazing at me.
"What if that happens?" I inquired.
"I won't allow it. I'll do whatever it takes for you to pick me as your partner.
I'll go to extremes, Amelia," he responded seriously.
Aries approached us, interrupting our conversation.
He held a rolled-up letter and handed it to Alpha. He bowed respectfully in front of him.
"A letter from Aryana, Alpha," Aries announced with a smile.
