Chapter 245 Bonus Chapter – Life and Death of Jonah (Part 8)
Jonah’s POV
I woke up to a hard slap in the face and a deep aching in my groin like somebody had punched me in the nuts or something. A wave of nausea hit me, and I threw up. I blinked open my eyes to the intense light. Who is that girl? She looks a lot like Lainey, but not quite. Oh my God, is that Fee?
“Hello, mini ghost,” I smirked.
Fee hit me across the face again. “Don’t you fucking call me that,” she snarled.
Oh, it seems that I’ve hit a nerve, I mused to myself.
Fee slapped me across the face several times and punched me in the ribs. I heard a distinct crack. “Fuck, Fee,” I grinned. “Where was that struggle back in prep school?” I licked my lips. Which she subsequently punched.
I heard voices through the wall. I wasn’t prepared when the door opened. For a moment, I thought I was imagining her. My little ghost. My Lainey. She walked into the wine room, like some kind of angel sent to save me, but I knew that it was far from the truth. The last thing I remembered was that I was about to take her fully. Then I woke up, tied to a chair, my ribs aching from the beating I’d taken, my face throbbing from the fists that had introduced themselves before she arrived.
“Little ghost,” I smirked, forcing the pain away and focusing on her. “You’ve come to save me.”
Then Fee stepped forward. Her expression was filled with hatred, and for a second, I almost admired the fire in her eyes. Fee’s fist connected with my ribs before I could brace myself. Pain exploded through my body as the crack echoed in the room. I gasped, looking down as the realization hit me. Fee, you little devil, with your brass knuckles.
“Fee,” Lainey shouted. Her voice was filled with panic as she rushed toward me, and I watched as Ben tried to stop her. He grabbed her, trying to pull her away, but she fought against him.
“I took an oath as a doctor,” Lainey argued. Even now, even after everything, she still wanted to save me.
That was the thing about Lainey. She saw the good in everyone, even a monster like me.
“But, Lainey…” Ben started.
“Let the woman do her job, Halesten,” I jeered, licking the blood from my lip. “I knew you would help me, Lainey. My little ghost.”
“Watch your mouth when you’re talking to my WIFE, Jonah,” Ben stated.
Wife. The word hit harder than Fee’s punch. My eyes dropped to Lainey’s hand and the rings that adorned it. The ultimate proof that she belonged to Ben.
“You betrayed me, little ghost,” I whispered. “You will pay for that.”
Something shifted in Lainey’s eyes, a twinkle of darkness. That’s it, little ghost, prove to everyone that deep down you are mine. I wanted her to release the anger, the rage.
Lainey stood tall, and her hand struck my face. Hard. Hard enough to cause serious pain, but it didn’t register. Instead, I grinned wickedly at her.
“There’s my feisty little ghost,” I declared. “God, I love your fire. We are the same person, little ghost. You just keep it pent up inside you. Let it out, Lainey. Then we can truly be together.”
Lainey stepped back, her body pressing against Ben’s. His arms wrapped around her waist and rested on her slight baby bump. It was Ben’s way of protecting her, of claiming her.
It was like a knife to my heart.
“I am nothing like you, Jonah,” Lainey growled. “I choose light and goodness in this world. Something you try to steal from your victims. So, right here, right now, I stand before you to tell you it didn’t work.”
I stopped listening after the word victims. I didn’t have victims. I had girls who needed help seeing what they really wanted. I wanted to laugh at her long, drawn-out speech. I wanted to tell her she was wrong, but before I could speak, a cloth was held to my mouth, and everything faded into darkness.
I dreamed of Lainey. As I stirred from the chloroform, my head pounded with a headache.
“He’s awake, Luca,” Fee said to a tall man with similar features to hers.
Luca came over to me and clapped me on the shoulder. “So, I think you’ve been a very bad boy,” Luca grinned. “What exactly are we going to do with you?”
“Let me go?” I smirked.
“No chance of that,” Fee stated.
“Is Lainey ready to come in?” Luca asked. “Yes, the doctor has everything ready.”
Lainey? Doctor? Fuck.
An older gentleman in a doctor's lab coat and a woman who looks a bit like Lainey walk into the room. The doctor took out a syringe and stabbed it in my arm. The cold fluid pulsed through my veins, and my head started to feel light. Then a feeling of being content washed over my entire body. I glanced up at the woman who had walked in.
“Maddy?” I questioned.
“Yes, Jonah,” She responded.
“You came back for me,” I stated.
Maddy walked over and straddled me on the chair. “How could I possibly stay away from you, judge?” Maddy asked.
“Fuck,” I growled. I could feel my cock pressed against her.
Maddy wrapped her arms around my neck and kissed me hard on the lips. I moaned at her insistence. “I realized I should have chosen you,” Maddy said, between kisses.
“Thank God, I can’t live without you,” I sighed.
“Let’s go away on your yacht,” Maddy expressed. “Tomorrow, the sooner the better.”
“Yes, anything you want, my little ghost,” I nodded. I felt the ropes on my wrists disappear and embrace Maddy so hard, like I can’t get her close enough to myself.
“Let me help you get dressed,” Maddy said, smiling. “Then we can go back to your place. The doctor will have to come to look after your injuries.”
“You take such good care of me,” I grinned. I’m finally getting everything I ever wanted in life.
“Well, it seems the serum is working to perfection,” Luca said to Fee, but I didn’t even register or care what they were saying. All I knew was that Maddy was finally mine.
