Do You Love Me?

Do You Love Me?
Megan looked at the two men kissing fiercely with one locked in the embrace of the other, her lips trembling and her eyes that stared at them turned red, her lips parted but she couldn't let out a word.

She shifted her head, and her face twitched a little, she blinked her eyes and tears fell, without a word, she turned around and finally took the first step and left from there.

By the time she reached the place where she couldn’t be seen, she dropped down to her knees and buried her face between her legs and cried out loud.

It hurts…

A man approached Megan out of nowhere, he watched her cry with an indifferent look on his face, then, he came closer to her and put on a calm smile “Hello…Student, why’re you crying? Don't cry and stand up. You’re so beautiful and shouldn't be crying in the middle of the road. Besides,” The man paused, then threw a glance at the place where Megan had come out from, then curled his lips before returning his gaze to Megan who had raised her head.

Their eyes met, and seeing the shock on her face, he smiled charmingly, “Hi, do you want to have a drink with me?”

On the other end, Evans had finally had the chance to push Nathan away, he looked at him in rage, but he didn't know when he raised his hand and swung it on the right cheek of Nathan.

The slap rang out in the silent place, loud and clear.

Evans widened his eyes in shock as he looked at Nathan whose head had turned to the side from force, he parted his lips to say something but nothing came out.

He couldn't believe he had slapped Nathan, he hadn't meant to and had just reacted unconsciously.

He dropped his hand and clenched it to his sides, he inhaled then closed his eyes gently, and when he opened them, it had become very calm. Without looking at Nathan who was still in shock, he turned around and began to walk away from there.

“Stop right there!”

Evans’ body paused at the command, but without turning around, he continued walking off but his hand was suddenly held.

“What else do you need from me?!” Evans turned around and glared at Nathan who had stopped him in rage.

Nathan furrowed his brows. To be honest, he still didn't understand why Evans had changed. They were clearly okay that night, so why had things changed suddenly?

Is it because of Jesse? But…

“You’re coming with me!” Nathan said stubbornly which actually got Evans speechless.

He looked at him, then became even more disappointed in him.  He smiled gently at Nathan, then suddenly asked.

“Have you fallen in love with me?”

The air surrounding them froze, Nathan’s heart skipped a beat but he didn’t notice. He was stunned at the unexpected question, then he reacted.

“What do you mean? You know that’s impossible!” He responded resolutely.

Evans’ fingers pierced through his palms, and he swallowed hard but still maintained that calm smile on his face.

“What about my elder brother, Jesse? Are you in love with him?” He threw another question calmly.

Nathan furrowed his brow, he parted his lips to say something but it got stuck in his throat, no matter how much he tried to let it out, it just wouldn’t come out.

His eyes darkened as he asked instead, “Why do you ask too many questions?!” he gritted his teeth, then narrowed his eyes dangerously, “Don’t you dare change the topic!”

Evans didn’t listen to him and instead pressed on, “I asked if you love me and you gave me a straight answer, then I asked if you love Jesse whom you have always loved, but you couldn’t even answer that simple question you had always given a quick response to before.” He chuckled and walked closer to Nathan, then jabbed his chest, “You know it too, right? You understand it clearly in your heart but what I don’t understand is…”

“What are you trying to insinuate? Are you telling me I don’t love Jesse anymore?” Nathan asked, his eyes that stared at Evans were cold and indifferent but Evans wasn’t scared one bit.

“You know it yourself.” He said, then sneered, and turned around to leave but then stopped and turned to look at Nathan, “One thing I still don’t understand is, why have you pretended not to see things? Why wouldn’t you investigate? Is it that you really trust him, or…”

“You don’t want to face the truth..?” Evans finished, and without waiting for him to respond, he walked away from the place leaving Nathan to stare at the wall.

Nathan stood there, his fist clenched at the sides, his face was calm but his eyes contained so much emotion and struggles.

His mind wandered off to the incident that had happened when he was a teenager, he had been pushed into the sea by his kidnappers who were scared that they would be caught.

He had struggled inside the water, and he had tried to call for help, but no matter how much he struggled, he still became weak.

He could still remember the feeling of water rushing into his ears, his nose and his mouth had swallowed so much water until his stomach was bloated that he felt it was about to burst, but his mouth had still continued to take in water.

He could remember how he had finally given up on struggling and when he had thought he would die, he suddenly felt something hook him by the waist.

He didn't know what that was, but that thing had managed to hold him from drowning, and then he felt a small warm hand hold his. Though his eyes were closed, and his body couldn't move, he could still remember the feeling of someone crying out, grunting, and spending so many minutes before he managed to pull him off the dangerous part, but his lower body was still stuck in the water, then he suddenly lost consciousness and by the time he woke up, he saw his parents and people who was pushing his stomach so he could vomit out the water.

He had been confused at first, but before his parents carried him away, they pointed at the thin figure with soaked clothes and said he had saved him.

He could still remember the whole accident clearly.

Nathan clenched his fist tight, then said, “So?” He chuckled tiredly.

“What if he did it? I owe him my life. Not just one time, but twice.”
