CHAPTER 28
[THIRD PERSON’S P. O. V]
The next few days were highly normal, which actually seemed a bit off to Levy. The killer was probably plotting his next move. Lucifer was staying at their mansion and all seemed fine, until he came down for breakfast and told the three brothers that someone was in his room last night.
“What exactly happened, Luc?” Levy questioned, intently looking at Lucifer who had a tensed look plastered on his face.
“I was sleeping, Levy and someone entered my room and pressed my nose with a cloth dipped in chloroform, and I passed out.” He replied, picking on his Spanish omlette, while Matt furrowed his eyebrows.
“And how could the person enter your room, Lucifer?” Reign raised an eyebrow, as Lucifer let out a deep sigh.
“I don’t know? And, when I woke up today, the large glass window of the room was broken.” He confessed, as Levy got up from his chair and hastily ran up to Lucifer’s room.
His brothers ran after him, with Lucifer following them closely behind. Levy barged in the room, to find the large glass window facing north, was broken. Almost nothing was left of the window except sharp glass shards.
The killer had just gone an extra mile. Breaking directly into the quarterback’s house? This was highly disturbing. And broke in to do what? Nobody knows. If he had to kill Lucifer, he’d have done it while he still had the chance. Why apply his sick little tranquilizers on him?
Then he noticed something that made his eyes bulge out, and drain all the blood from his face. He blanched, as he processed the insides of the room which yielded a very big clue in finding out the killer. Not wasting a second, he blurted out with a composed tone, “Lucifer, let’s go to a nearby café. We’ll talk there. Reign and Matt, you stay at home.”
Lucifer obediently nodded, and the quarterback led him outside the house as he bid the two brothers goodbye. Levy took out his Audi R8, and hastily hoped in the car, with Lucifer taking the seat which was near the driver’s.
“What happened suddenly, Lev? Why’d you leave your house and make me do so too? You don’t want to actually take me to a café, do you?” Lucifer nervously glanced at Levy, whose fingers were actually trembling against the steering wheel.
Levy didn’t reply, he just sighed. Like a tired, defeated sigh which clearly said that he couldn’t do this anymore. Tears streamed down his cheeks, as he sniffed a bit, stopping his runny nose. Lucifer was alarmed; he never saw Levy cry. Something was horribly wrong.
“Goodness, Levy! What’s going on?” Lucifer’s mouth fell open, as he saw the quarterback relentlessly crying his eyeballs out, for some reason, and still managing to drive the car.
“I’m ruined, Lucifer. I’m ruined.” He mumbled between his torn sobs, his voice hardly recognizable due to all that crying. Why did he say that he was ruined, Lucifer thought? And what could possibly trigger such outburst?
“Fuck, Levy. Spill it already.” Lucifer growled, as the other man looked at him with red tear brimmed eyes, and took a sharp turn to the left, as made the car halt.
“How did I…? How could I not understand? How was I so fucking naïve? The thought crossed my damn mind once, and I dismissed it.” He cried with a voice that made Lucifer teary, as he flung himself at him for a hug.
“You’re going to have to be specific, Levy. What’s going on?” He spoke to the crying man, who buried his face in the crook of his smell and inhaled.
He fixed himself, getting up from that position as he stared into Lucifer’s concern laced azure eyes. His eyes fell to the man’s mouth, as he pulled him in for a kiss. Lucifer stilled for a moment, Levy had never ever shown any sexual interest in him. Why now?
He stopped thinking as he gave in to the searing kiss, molding his lips on Levy’s. He had wanted this for so long, but he could never tell Levy. He cupped his face with his hands, as their eager tongues met and he tasted Levy’s tears. Levy’s hand slipped under Lucifer’s t-shirt, as the other man arched his back, and kissed him hard. When they finally broke away, Lucifer was confused, and Levy was still crying.
“When I went in your room and saw the broken window, I noticed that not one of the broken pieces were inside the room. The window wasn’t broken from outside, Lucifer. But from inside. He forgot to remove that clue, but he broke the window to make it seem like someone broke it from outside. One of my brothers is after us, Luc. And you know who.”
(A/N : Uh, huh. The showdown is very close. Five more chapters to go, and after that, poof! This story will be finished.
And yes, am I playing with your head, yes? That's exactly what an author does.
Have a great day, my loves!
