CHAPTER 27
[THIRD PERSON’S P. O. V]
Reign at once had called for the authorities, who later involved the police. The entire school was kind of on a lock down. The police had used a scalpel to scrape some sample of dried blood off the walls, and had them transported to a forensic department for further information.
The sheriff had asked Levy a few questions, which he answered as discreetly as he could. When asked, if the words scribbled on the wall meant something to him, he plain lied and said that they didn’t. The police eventually reached the conclusion that, the murder of Tracy Nicholls, and the fact that Ashley Wicker had gone missing, were actually two cases that were linked.
But, they couldn’t confirm it unless they could find Wicker’s body. Her parents were called, and it was learnt that her blood group was A-ve. A rare blood group, which is very hard to find. Couple of hours later, the forensic department discovered that the blood sample they’d been provided with, was A- as well.
However, detectives couldn’t find any evidence. Like, a finger print that the killer left, some hair strands, personal belonging he might‘ve left behind – nada. Nothing. It was drawn from existing evidence and logic that the killer in both the cases were the same person. Some of them thought that it was a psychopathic serial killer on loose, while the others thought that the killer had ulterior motives. He killed two of the girls who had a sexual relationship with their star quarterback.
Levy had a placid look plastered on his face all day long. He knew that both of girls who were murdered, had slept with him. He felt guilt creeping in; the killer was after him, then why was he going after people who had no connection with the deaths that happened on 2016 due to him and his friends?
He was about to leave school when the principal mentioned that his smaller brother Matt had left in the afternoon, due to probable illness. Wow, the day just got better and better. He drove Reign and himself to his mansion, and he saw Lucifer on the porch, holding two duffel bags. Oh, he was here to stay for a few days.
“Thanks for coming, Luc. I could really use some company right now, and you some protection.” The quarterback warily said, while his best friend gave him a faint smile.
Levy came to know that Matt had thrown up two times at school, making him ask for permission from the principal to come home. But, thankfully, Matt said that he was quite alright and he had took the required meds. The eldest brother didn’t know how to cook, and ordered two pizzas for them. Lucifer had freshened up by then, and he climbed down the stairs as he pulled a chair, and sat on it. The dinning table had nothing but two pizzas with pepperoni toppings and lots of cheese.
Matt wasn’t in the mood to eat, so he chickened out from dinner. Levy and Reign took their seats, joining Lucifer for dinner. The trio took their share of pizzas, and started eating. Nobody spoke. It was like, their mind was on something else and none of them were willing to pick up the topic which was actually the need of the hour.
“The school is off for a week. Police investigations and stuff.” Levy declared, as Reign nodded and Lucifer let out a tired sigh.
“This is getting so scary, Lev. The killer is absolutely sick. Going after the girls you slept with. What is this, a warning?” Lucifer’s voice was faltering, as he glanced at Levy for an answer who merely shook his head.
“Not actually a warning. He’s a sadist. He’s enjoying this whole situation. We’re making the exact moves, he wants us to make. He’s showing how far he can go for taking vengeance. But, making the situations worse, this bastard is clever enough to not leave clues behind while committing the grisly crimes. Honestly, I don’t understand – how does he track our moves? How did he know that I was going for the washroom so that he scribbled the sentences with blood just at that very moment, when I was supposed to enter?” Levy questioned, and that’s when it struck him. The killer was stalking them all, and knew their every move.
