CHAPTER 29

[THIRD PERSON’S P. O. V]

Upon a lot of insistence, Lucifer could make Levy come out of the car. To the quarterback's ill luck, this spot was the exact same one on which Reign and Levy made out. That day was blissful, and today was mournful. He couldn't stop crying, tears spilling from his deep hazel eyes as he walked towards the pond, and sat himself on the grass.

Lucifer did the same but, didn't know what to say in order to comfort his best friend. He was way off the rails right now. “Levy...” Lucifer called for him, and he tilted his head back to look him in the eye. His beautiful auburn hair was now dishelleved, his clothes unironed and crinkly, his beautiful scarlett lips parted as each sob escaped them. He was a mess, a complete mess.

Lucifer reached for him, wrapping his arms around the wounded man who leant back against his chest for support. The scent of cherry blossoms hung in the air, reminding Levy of the ecstatic moment, he and his brother spent here. He then said, that he'd not let anything happen to Levy. How could he be so big a liar?

Lucifer's own heart was breaking apart in pieces to see him like this. He has never seen the cheerful quarterback cry. They had been friends ever since they were kids and even when his father beat the shit out of him, he'd bear it with a patient shrug. Crying? That was not his thing. Lucifer could only imagine how hurt he was.

Levy's body slid down, placing his head on Lucifer's lap, he curled into a ball. The best friend's hand reached the quarterback's cheek, making the crying man face him. Lucifer saw the light vanish from his eyes, and at that very moment, he knew that Levy Williams was broken.

The moment was interrupted with one of their phones buzzing in their pockets. Turns out, it was Levy's. He hastily got up from Lucifer's lap and took the phone out with his shaking fingers. Matt's name flashed on the screen, as he swiped up the phone button to receive the call.

“Hello, Levy?”

“Hello, Matt. What's up?” He made his best voice, to not let his little brother know that he'd been crying like a child.

“Levy? Why is your voice so thick and broken?” The fifteen year old asked, making Levy sigh.

His nose was blocked, breaking his voice as he had to breathe through his mouth. Furthermore, he had been crying for as long as he could remember.

“Nasty cold, Matt. Look, stay away from Reign. He's ummm... potentially dangerous.”

“Dangerous? Why?”

“Can't explain now. I'll be home in a few minutes.” He didn't wait for an answer, and hung up on his brother.

“Luc, you're not going in my house. I can't lose you.” The sniffling quarterback said, shoving his phone back in his pocket.

“What if something happens to you?” He furrowed his eyebrows, not quite convinced about Levy's plan.

“Look, Reign doesn't know that we know that he's the killer. The safest place for you right now, is anywhere away from me.” He put a hand on Lucifer's shoulder, after which the best friend sighed.

“Okay. We'll meet as soon as this madness is over. Collect enough evidence to put him in prison and be safe. Call the sheriff for help.” Lucifer mused, while Levy nodded.

“Until we meet again.” Levy said, flashing his best friend a weak smile.

“Until we meet again.” Lucifer replied, stepping forward to press a chaste kiss on Levy's lips. Levy then hoped in his car and drove home alone, while Lucifer walked away, directly towards his home. While he was driving home, his brain analysed some things – the writing on the walls in the bathroom stalls, when Reign was fucking Cody, the inscription with blood on the toilet room, when Reign and he were making out. Reign was present everywhere the incidents took place.

How could he be so stupid to not pick up the obvious signs? And his obsession had grown out of hand. So much so, that he killed the girls Levy slept with. But, why did he break into Lucifer's room? That was still a mystery. And how would he even get him convincted? Levy gave him his heart, thinking that he'd take care of it and he savaged whatever was left of it, beyond recognition. He still loved Reign with all his selfish, obnoxious heart, or with whatever was left of it. And he had a hard time believing it.
