Chapter 67 Sixty seven
Chapter 67 Sixty seven
Time drew on in the cell my arm agonising whenever I attempted to move it, yes, I could heal some wounds; but bones, that was something I had yet to master.
I curled up into a ball on my side, sobbing silently as I attempted to keep myself warm, unable to do so as I could not call on my power.
The room seeming to be closing in all around me. I could have transformed perhaps, maybe into a bat, but with my arm lying broken and twisted beside me, I wouldn't have been able to fly. No matter what I transformed into, the shattered limb would follow.
How much more of this could I take, how much torment did I deserve?
I wished more than anything that my mother was here to advise me, though I knew what she would more than likely say “You have gotten yourself into this mess dear, now let's see how you get out of it.”
I did my best to mimic the condescending and yet gentle tone she took with me whenever I stepped out of line.
But nothing was the same as having her by my side. She had always been kind, even when she didn’t agree with my actions, and I had allowed him to kill her, if I could go back, I would do what she told me to, I would have run with her.
I didn’t know how we would have done it, or where we would be now if we had by some miracle made it past the small army in the front yard. But at least then, I could have said that I tried. There could have been a chance for something different.
But no, I was a coward then, and I would be a cowered when the prince returned,
My thoughts are disturbed by the echoing of footsteps in the dungeon. They were long strides which got louder by the second, then before I knew it there was the Vampire Prince. His face showed a more sombre expression than the maniacal smile I expected.
“Time is up witch, you have made your choice.” His tone was low and monotone.
He came into the cell and within a flash of an eye he had me pinned to the ground. My breathing was erratic, my pulse sky high, I was sweating from the fear of what was about to happen.
I didn’t know what to do, I tried to push him away, but with one working arm, I could not. Though even if I had two, I doubted it would have made a difference, I was weak. I had used a vast amount of power against the fight with the Phantomhive woman.
I felt his tongue trace over my neck as he leaned down, roughly shoving my head to the side. I needed to do something, I needed to stop him, but I knew that he would only stop for one reason, that he would kill me if I didn't obey him. I opened my mind with a sudden jolt, forcing my fear and panic into his mind as I cried. Showing him everything I had thought in the last day, the hurt, betrayal and anger. I Prayed that it wasn’t too late, that he would stop.
He became still above me, he fangs just about to break through the skin of my neck, the sharpness pressing against my skin as I heard a soft chuckle, his entire form seeming looser and less aggressive.
“I see that you have come to your senses witch.” He laughed deeply, knowing that he had won.
I said nothing in return as he released his deadly grip on me and instead moved to sit on the stone floor in front of me. His eyes watching me closely, just in case I decided to force the barrier back in place.
i could feel his anger, it was still present, and so was mine. But I knew that I could say nothing now, I had showed him that I would obey when my life was on the line. I didn’t want to die, not really, like anyone, I wanted to live.
if that made me a coward, then so be it.
The prince smiled, a small and fake thing that we both knew was not sincere. “I really do hope you will obey me, Fraulien. This is a point I did not want us to reach.”
“Master... something is still bothering me... Vincent saved my life, I owe him. Will you please let me heal him?” I asked in a hushed tone, not moving from the place I was pinned seconds before.
I knew I was once again speaking out of place, but I couldn’t help myself. Vincent meant something to me, he saw me for who I was, not just a witch that he could use to gain power.
I could sense the swelling anger in Silas, but I must press the matter, I don’t want my friend to die as a branded traitor. he is so much more than that, he is caring. Which is more than I could say for most of the immortal creatures I have met. I was very careful at what thoughts my master could see, and even more weary than I was before; knowing that one wrong emotion, one disobedient thought and... well, that would be the end of me.
“How do you know you could save him? Diamond is deadly to us, more deadly than the power you have, what makes you think he will survive?” he asked me slowly, as though he was actually thinking about allowing me to help.
I shrugged, pain shooting through my broken arm. “I don’t know, perhaps I can’t help him. But I want to try.”
He was silent for a long moment, slightly blocking himself from my mind, though I already knew he was torn. He spoke after what seemed like a lifetime, his tone still unsure and annoyed. “What makes you think I will give you what you want, why are you so hung up on helping a traitor?”
“Please master, he isn’t a traitor. Why would Elizabeth try and kill her brother if he was on her side? That doesn’t make sense. If he was a traitor, he would not have saved me.” I argued softly.
“You are too foolish and young to see that it could all be a rouse to get close to me, where would you be if I was dead huh? It wouldn’t take long for you to be under the control of another vampire, one that may not be a merciful as I.” he growled, but not in a way that would frighten me; I could see it was more out of concern. For us both.
If he were dead, I'd run.
I'd get as far away from this forsaken place as I could, even if I died trying.
