Chapter 68 Sixty eight

Chapter 68 Sixty eight
he was going to kill me only moments before, and yet now her was concerned for my safety. The sudden turn in his attitude had my head spinning, though I knew it would more than likely be because he didn’t want anyone else to have me, he wanted my power for himself.

“I have seen his mind master; I know that is not the case.” I murmured, unsure why he suddenly did not trust me, I suppose though; it might have something to do with me comparing him to Elizabeth.

My mistake.

“Show me.” was all he said, and I obeyed.

I entered Vincent’s mind without a second thought, the agonising torment he was in, wounding me. All I wanted to do was help him, I just wanted to repay the life debt I owe.

I pushed the thoughts of me and the prince to the very depths of Silas’ mind, and as I suspected, there was no ill intentions in his thoughts. In fact, he was worried for my safety rather than his own, he knew I was down here with him, he could sense it and he wondered what I had been exposed to. As though he knew I was in pain.

I couldn’t hold the power for long, my entire form trembling from the fight I had endured with Vincent’s sister, but I’m sure the prince had all he needed to decide. I pulled my mind back, but before I did, I softly sent a message to the Phantomhive; ‘please hold on, I will come to you’.

I knew that he would be confused, he didn’t entirely know about all the powers that I possessed, but soon enough he would. I turned my gaze towards the vampire who owned my life, wondering if he had made a choice, his thoughts still pushing me away.

“I will let you heal him. But, in return; you will not disobey me.” He compromised, carefully lifting me into his arms.

I nodded, silently agreeing that I would do my best to comply with his every command.

I winced slightly when a deep agony seeped through my arm as it drooped towards the ground, I couldn’t move it, and I doubted doing so would help the broken bone.

Silas could sense my discomfort, but did nothing to aid me, nor did he speak. I just hoped I had enough strength left within me to heal my friend, and I prayed; above all else that it would work. Diamond was severely deadly to vampires, and I worried that my power would not be enough to help him.

The walk to the cell that Vincent resided in was shorter than I had first expected. I watched in silence as the prince nodded towards the two guards that stood outside the cell, both stepping to the side for their master. Why couldn't I be that obedient, why did I have to be so strong minded? We entered at a deadly timid pace, both I and Silas not knowing what to expect. Yet, there he was, laid watching the door, his features coated in agony.

A new determination hit me, I had to save him, I couldn’t allow him to die.

Vincent smiled weakly, “Luna, you are alright.”

“As much as being a slave allows.” I responded, aware of the prince’s growl of annoyance.

Silas placed me onto the ground gently, though I knew he did not want to let me go, I knew he was still unsure about this. He wanted to kill the Phantomhive. He didn’t care that he saved me, not after all his sister had done. But then again, that was her not him, you cannot blame an individual for the actions of another.

I cradled my broken arm as I slowly approached the small cot-like bed he was laid upon, my heart racing as I saw the wound, he had taken for me, small amounts of blood still oozing from the gash. I saw that the diamond remained within the hole and knew that I would have to remove it first. I smiled somewhat weakly, unsure if I had enough strength left within me to do what was needed, but regardless of that, I had to try. I could not allow him to die.

I carefully moved to sit beside him on the small bed, my voice low and soft. “I won't lie to you; this will not be pleasant.”

“Save your strength Luna, you will need it in the coming weeks. I have lived many years; I am ready to die.” Vincent protested faintly, though if I were to continue, I knew that he would be unable to stop me.

Silas growled from the doorway, clearly displeased by the whole situation. “You heard him; he does not want your help. Leave the wretch the die.”

I snarled back at my master, unsure why he was so bitter and cruel to the very being I owed my life to. “No, I will not allow him to die.”

“Watch your mouth WITCH.” The prince bellowed with a sudden fury; he hated the fact that I would risk so much for someone he considered to me an enemy. “I will not warn you again.”

I said nothing else as I turned back towards Vincent, producing the only smile that I could, one of sadness. I could see clearly in his eyes that the Phantomhive wanted to say something to the prince, wanted to argue for me.

Though, he was in no better position than I myself, by saving him I was condemning him to an eternity of servitude. He would be a slave to Silas, and so would I. And yet, with life came the chance for freedom, and I would not take that from Vincent.

“Bear with it, I will try to make this as painless as possible.” I told the Phantomhive, praying that my sunlight power could save him from the poison that lay in his blood.

Why did she have to use a diamond blade? This would have been so much easier if it was silver or steel.
