Chapter 419: End of the Main Story [Part 3]

Chapter 419: End of the Main Story [Part 3]

Stefan almost instinctively reached out to hold Seraphina's hand, but she gently dodged away.

Seraphina opened the car door and got out. "Don't get out and follow me."

She didn't go straight back to the hotel, but wandered around instead.

Stefan watched Seraphina's retreating figure and rubbed his temples.

"Seraphina, what are you doing here?" Cordelia put her hands behind her back and slowly walked up to Seraphina.

Seraphina turned her head and saw Demetrius with his grandmother Cordelia.

Seraphina curved her lips into a smile. "Ms. McDowell, hello."

Cordelia nudged Demetrius with her elbow.

Demetrius got jabbed in the waist by Cordelia, and the pain made him step aside directly.

Cordelia looked up and glared at Demetrius, who didn't get her hint. "A tissue."

He was so stupid.

Seraphina had obviously been crying.

Her eyelashes still had tears on them.

She looked pretty pitiful.

Seraphina sniffled lightly, trying hard to squeeze out a smile. "Ms. McDowell, I'm fine. Just now, I just lost control of my emotions a bit."

Seeing Seraphina like this, Cordelia sighed with sympathy, took the tissue from Demetrius's hand, and handed it to Seraphina. "Child, it's okay to cry. Crying is also a sign of bravery."

Demetrius fell silent. What kind of twisted logic was that? Crying being a sign of bravery—it was clearly a sign of weakness.

Seraphina took the tissue and thanked her softly, wiping away the tears at the corners of her eyes.

Cordelia nudged Demetrius with her elbow again. "You go away first. You're an eyesore standing here."

Demetrius fell silent again.

After Demetrius walked a bit farther away, Cordelia sat down next to Seraphina. "Are you hungry? I'll treat you to beef noodles?"

Seraphina pressed her lips together. Though her emotions were still a bit low, hearing Cordelia's gentle concern, she couldn't help but show a slight smile. "Thank you, Ms. McDowell. I am a bit hungry. Let me treat you."

Cordelia smiled kindly and gently patted Seraphina's hand. "Good child, stop crying now. Let's go eat beef noodles. The beef noodles at that place up ahead taste amazing."

Cordelia stood up and took Seraphina's hand. "Come on, let's go eat a bowl of hot beef noodles and put all our troubles aside."

The two walked hand in hand. Their similar builds made them look like grandmother and granddaughter.

Standing not far away, Demetrius watched the two of them. Cordelia had always had an odd temper and never easily accepted people.

But seeing how caring Cordelia was toward Seraphina today, Demetrius couldn't help but raise his eyebrows.

Seraphina briefly told Cordelia a few simple sentences about why she had been crying.

To sum it up, it was short—she and Stefan had broken up, and the wedding was canceled.

Cordelia gently patted the back of her hand and comforted her. "Silly child, it's no big deal. There are plenty of men out there, and there's more than one good man. You're so young, you have plenty of opportunities ahead."

They walked into the noodle shop, and hot beef noodles were quickly brought to them, with a wonderful aroma.

Cordelia urged Seraphina to eat. "Eat it while it's hot. The broth for these noodles has been simmering for a whole day and night."

Seraphina picked up her utensils, a hint of warmth flashing in her eyes, and said softly, "Thank you."

After they finished eating and their stomachs were full, Seraphina was ready to go back to the hotel so Timothy and Elizabeth wouldn't worry.

When Seraphina was about to pay, Cordelia rushed to scan the code and pay first.

Seraphina narrowed her eyes and couldn't help but laugh.

"Seraphina, why don't you marry my grandson Demetrius?" Cordelia said with a smile. Seraphina looked so beautiful when she smiled.

Thinking of Demetrius's cold face, Seraphina quickly shook her head. "I'm not good enough for him."

Seraphina reached out and linked arms with Cordelia, and the two walked out of the beef noodle shop.

Cordelia patted Seraphina's hand, her tone gentle but firm. "Don't say that, Seraphina. You have your own good qualities. Anyone who gets to be with you is lucky."

Seraphina felt warm inside. "Thank you."

Cordelia asked Demetrius to take Seraphina back to the hotel, but Seraphina refused. "It's only a twenty-minute walk to the hotel. You really don't need to take me."

Seraphina waved goodbye to Cordelia and Demetrius. Just after Seraphina left, Demetrius followed her.

Demetrius looked down at her and said coolly, "If I don't take you back, my grandmother will kick me out of the house."

Seraphina nodded a bit awkwardly. "Sorry for the trouble."

Demetrius replied, "No trouble. It's just a walk."

Seraphina fell silent. That comment made things even more awkward. There was no way to continue this conversation.

The two walked in silence to the hotel entrance. Seraphina thanked him and walked into the hotel.

She heard her phone make a text message sound and took it out of her pocket to look.

Stefan: [Just now, Wilmer told me that Jane found out from him about what happened during the mountain climbing incident years ago. I suspect the Barnett family causing trouble on our wedding day has something to do with her]

Seraphina looked at this text message, and her eyes instantly turned cold. [I see. Thanks]

Stefan looked at Seraphina's polite, courteous, and distant reply, and a bitter smile appeared at the corner of his lips.

Seraphina went to find Elizabeth and Timothy.

She showed them the text Stefan had sent.

After Timothy read the text, a sharp glint flashed in his eyes.

He looked up at Seraphina with gentle eyes. "Leave this matter to me to handle."

He had given them time to grow up. Just because he couldn't bring himself to act against children didn't mean he couldn't act against adults.
