Chapter 149: Ruthless Rejection

Chapter 149: Ruthless Rejection

Charlotte's face darkened. "Just leave after you wash up. I'm busy."

"Does this belong to that man?" he kept asking.

Charlotte looked at him coldly. "Does it matter to you who it belongs to?"

Alexander was at a loss for words. In fact, it shouldn't matter, but he just felt annoyed. He looked down again - could it be Ian's?

"It's my boyfriend's. You can leave now after washing up. I won't see you out." Charlotte said flatly and turned to leave. What the hell was Alexander trying to do?

Unexpectedly, Alexander grabbed her from behind, closed the door, and pressed her against it, his body pinning her tightly. Charlotte looked up to meet his cold gaze and rolled her eyes helplessly. "Mr. Wilson, please show some respect, OK?"

"Respect?" Alexander laughed coldly and lowered his head to kiss her. Charlotte turned her head away, and his lips landed on the corner of her mouth. Just then, Amelia's voice suddenly came from outside. "I just booked another commercial for you. You'll be working with Elsa."

Charlotte froze and quickly tried to push Alexander away, but he didn't budge. Instead, his eyes held a playful look - he wanted to see how she'd handle this.

When Amelia got no response, she walked around the room and focused on the bathroom, heading in their direction. "Charlotte, are you in there?"

After a moment, a weak voice came from inside. "Amelia, my stomach hurts. Could you help pack up my things in the bedroom first?"

"What did you eat this time? I told you to control your weight, but you won't listen!" Amelia muttered as she went into the bedroom. Celebrities were very sensitive about weight issues.

Hearing her walk away, Charlotte pushed him away - though actually Alexander let her go himself. Charlotte was furious, knowing this jerk did it on purpose.

"You need to leave now, or I'm dead." Charlotte whispered and sneaked to open the door, checking outside. Good thing Melissa wasn't here, or she'd really be done for.

Alexander stood with his hands in his pockets, watching her sneaky movements with amusement and chuckling. "Your boyfriend is none of my business, so why should I care if you're dead or not?"

"You!" This jerk.

Charlotte glared at him. "Get out!"

Alexander walked out casually. Before Charlotte could leave the bathroom, she heard something drop.

"Mr. Wilson..." Amelia looked at him in disbelief.

"Hello."

Charlotte rushed out with a tearful expression. "Amelia, it's not what you think. Nothing happened between us, really." This jerk was going to get her killed!

"Charlotte Harris!" Amelia glared at her coldly. What was this woman trying to do!

Charlotte kept shaking her head and waving her hands, desperately explaining. "Amelia, listen to me. Nothing really happened between us. Mr. Wilson, tell her, right? Really nothing happened."

Alexander looked at her, and after a long pause asked, "Really?"

Charlotte really wanted to slap this jerk. What the hell was going on!

"I'm leaving. See you tonight." Alexander left with a strange smile.

"You promised me... what are you trying to do..." Amelia completely lost it.

It wasn't that she didn't want Charlotte to date, but Alexander had hurt her so deeply before. How could she bear to watch her repeat the same mistake? Charlotte had sworn to her that she would never have anything to do with Alexander again, but now, after such a short time, she'd already brought him home. Amelia felt deeply helpless and defeated. She felt tricked by Charlotte, who had always been honest, and tricked badly.

Of course, she was so angry for a reason. Everyone had seen how much Liam had done for Charlotte over the years. When Solstice first debuted, Liam had secretly helped a lot. Now that she was back in the country, Liam had even opened a studio just to sign her as his only artist. She was deeply moved by everything Liam had done for Charlotte. There weren't many men who could compare to him. As Charlotte's good friend, she hoped she could find happiness. She'd always hoped that man would be Liam. If not him, someone else would be acceptable, but this Alexander... just seeing Alexander made her inexplicably angry.

"Amelia, yesterday..." Charlotte explained everything from beginning to end. Amelia rarely lost her temper, and Charlotte naturally knew she cared about her. Not only was she not angry, but she was actually touched.

Amelia looked at her doubtfully. "Is that really what happened?"

"Of course, I swear." Charlotte said earnestly, though feeling a bit guilty inside.

"Alright, alright. Get ready and let's go to the studio. We're shooting a commercial for Elegant Jewelry today, so it'll probably be busy." Amelia didn't dwell on it. Although she didn't like Alexander, the choice was still in Charlotte's hands. She hoped Charlotte would think clearly and not regret it later.

"We're going to the Blue Vanguard Group today to shoot the commercial. Sophia will probably be there too, so be careful not to offend her." Amelia kindly reminded her.

Charlotte nodded. "I know."

After getting ready, they drove to the Blue Vanguard Group. Since the York family's Blue Vanguard Group was acquired by Alexander, it had been merged into the Wilson Group. The current Blue Vanguard Group was an advertising company founded by Ophelia herself. Although it couldn't compare with big enterprises and companies, business was pretty good.

Since meeting at the villa, Charlotte hadn't seen Ophelia again. She'd been too busy with work to visit when she came back. She wondered how Ophelia had been doing all these years?

Alexander went straight to the office. As soon as he entered, he saw Hazel.

"Alexander, where were you last night?" Hazel saw he looked refreshed and seemed to be in a good mood, but she was in a bad mood. He'd been out all night, and she couldn't sleep either.

Alexander glanced at her coolly, his face showing little warmth. "You're here."

"Were you away from the office yesterday because something happened?" she asked, changing her tone.

Alexander hated people asking about his whereabouts. He said flatly, "Did my dad send you to ask?"

"No, I'm just concerned about you."

"Hazel." Alexander looked at her seriously. "If you joined the Wilson Group with other intentions, I suggest you quit. I don't want things to get ugly between us. Some feelings are not meant to develop, and some relationships are destined not to change. All these years, I've always treated you as a sister. I hope we don't reach the point where we can't even see each other anymore."

He hadn't failed to notice Hazel's changes over the years. He'd just awkwardly pretended not to notice the affection she occasionally showed. Although he and Hazel weren't blood-related, a sister could only be a sister. He'd always told himself that Hazel was still young and it wasn't her fault that she couldn't distinguish between sibling affection and love. But lately she'd been getting more and more out of line. Not only had she secretly arranged with his grandfather to join the Wilson Group as deputy manager of the design department, but she also kept coming to his office, and now she was even trying to manage his private life. Suddenly he realized that all these years of tolerance and pretending had been wrong.

Some things should be dealt with quickly and decisively, like a business deal - either it works or it doesn't.

"Alexander, you..." Hazel's heart pounded. Did Alexander really understand her feelings for him? She felt both excited and worried.

"You should get a boyfriend. I have a client whose son is about your age. I'll talk to his father sometime and arrange for you two to meet." He thought he'd made himself very clear.

Hazel was smart enough to understand what he meant. Her heart filled with mixed emotions, her nose tingled, and tears came uncontrollably. She said with some difficulty, "Do you still like Charlotte?"

"My heart belongs to someone, but that person is not Charlotte, and it won't be you either." He said coldly. Since it had come to this, what was there to fear? As long as she could give up.

Hazel smiled bitterly. "But I've liked you for many years." Her voice was very small, with a slight pleading tone.

Alexander sat in his office chair and rubbed his temples helplessly, saying expressionlessly, "I'm honored to have your affection. But have you really figured out whether this is family love or romantic love? You've just mistaken my kindness to you for dependence. Over time, you got used to me. But Hazel, this isn't love."

"Then what is love?" she asked stubbornly.

What is love?

He didn't know either.

"Go back and think about it carefully. Rather than waste time waiting for someone who won't give you results, you should look for your own life. You're still young. Maybe when you walk out that door, you'll meet someone you like. You're destined to only be my sister. I've said everything I need to say. If you keep being stubborn, there's nothing I can do."

Hazel laughed. "Maybe you're right. Maybe as you said, I can't tell the difference between family love and romantic love. Your heartless answer hurts me, but I still want to thank you for telling me what you think. Since that's the case, I'll let go, because I don't want to become a humble woman like Sophia. I'm proud and unwilling to quietly give in the background." With that, she ran out of the office.

"I'm proud, so don't lose me. I'm not used to looking back." This sentence suddenly appeared in Alexander's mind. Once, a woman had said this to him too.

Hazel rushed into the bathroom and started crying. The people in the design department looked at each other, not knowing what was going on. Bruce had been sitting in her office for a long time without seeing anyone. When he came out, he heard an unpleasant sound from the bathroom.

"Who's in there?" Bruce asked a manager helplessly.

He'd been stood up by Hazel in the design department earlier and was already in a bad mood. Now hearing this inexplicable crying made him feel annoyed. To dare cry so loudly in the Wilson Group, she must hold a significant position.
