Chapter 150 She Is Getting Married!

Chapter 150 She Is Getting Married!

"Sounds like Hazel." The sharp-eared agent recognized the woman's voice immediately.

Bruce raised his eyebrows. He'd never had any good feelings toward this Hazel. He hadn't forgotten how she tried to make Charlotte lose her baby back then. Now hearing her cry actually gave him a sense of satisfaction, and a thought popped into his head: Serves her right!

Still, he was curious about what could make her cry so sadly. After all, she wasn't a kid anymore. He could almost picture her crying her eyes out, and the thought made him happy.

"You guys go ahead. I'll wait in the design department for that Hazel," he told his agent.

The agent nodded and got into the elevator. He had no schedule this morning anyway, so whatever.

After the agent left, Bruce walked toward the restroom. The crying from the women's restroom hadn't gotten quieter but louder. Bruce knocked hard on the door and asked mockingly, "Ms. Carter, did you get dumped? You sound so heartbroken!"

Hazel's crying stopped instantly. She looked up and saw her red eyes in the mirror.

"Ms. Carter, come out and let me comfort you. A breakup is no big deal. Out with the old, in with the new. What's the point of being so dramatic?" Bruce deliberately said this loudly. Several passing employees suddenly understood—the newly arrived Hazel had been dumped, and badly enough to be this upset.

Hazel wiped away her tears and walked out with red eyes. When she saw it was Bruce standing at the door, her expression got even worse. She knew it had to be him, because who else would dare offend her.

"Ms. Carter, done crying?" Bruce didn't hide the gloating on his face at all.

"What do you want?" She patted her clothes and walked out of the restroom, looking at Bruce with contempt.

Yes, contempt. She had to look down on everyone who was close to Charlotte, even though this did her no good and was actually quite childish. But right now, besides despising them in her heart, she had no other options.

Alexander always kept his word. When he said they couldn't be together, he meant there could be no result. It wasn't that she didn't want to persist, but she could never accept this kind of outcome with no future.

So just now in the restroom, she was thinking about whether she should give up now, before they couldn't even be friends, let alone lovers.

Hazel considered herself smart. When something had no future, you had to give up. But she was also stupid—she knew from the start that she and Alexander had no future, but she still fell in.

Alexander's words just now made her suddenly realize something. She asked herself: Had she really figured out whether her feelings for Alexander were family affection or romantic love?

She laughed at herself. Maybe it wasn't love at all. Maybe she just mistook Alexander's kindness for love. She was just not used to losing this man who treated her well.

Alexander's words did hurt her, but she had to thank him for telling her the truth. He could have kept pretending not to know... Now could she still climb out of that confusing valley?

Bruce found her laugh really strange. Had she cried herself silly?

"I just came to see if you were dead. If you were, I'd call security to drag you out. After all, the restroom isn't just yours." Bruce walked away with a smug smile.

"Bruce!" An angry voice came from behind.

Bruce looked back at her. "What?"

"I'll buy you dinner tonight." Seeing him about to speak and afraid of being rejected, she quickly added, "I know you have no schedule tonight. I'll call you at ten. See you then."

Bruce found this really strange. After thinking for a second, he walked back to her and touched her forehead. "No fever. Is something wrong with your brain?"

Hazel slapped his hand away. Why did she feel tingles all over when he touched her just now? Was this what they call "chemistry"?

She was startled by her own thought. All these years while focusing on Alexander, she'd never dated anyone. Even with male friends, she'd never felt this way. Thinking about this special moment, her expression softened, and her contemptuous look at Bruce relaxed considerably.

To forget one person, you need to fall for another. She suddenly felt Bruce might be a good choice.

Poor Bruce had no idea his casual gesture had sparked so many thoughts in Hazel's mind. If he knew, he'd be mortified.

"Tonight, see you." Hazel said hurriedly and turned to leave, almost running, her heart beating fast.

She touched her chest. Was this what it felt like to be attracted to someone?

She shook her head hard. Impossible. She just wanted to distract herself from Alexander. Impossible!

Bruce was also confused by her strange behavior. That heartless woman was crazy!

The car stopped in front of the Blue Vanguard Group building. Charlotte looked at the towering commercial building and felt pressured. She and Amelia walked into the elevator.

The Blue Vanguard Group rented the 25th to 27th floors of this expensive building. Ophelia seemed to have developed quite well over the years.

Led by staff into the photo studio, the first person Charlotte saw was Sophia standing not far away in a red business suit. She frowned slightly. Where was Ian?

Sophia walked toward her with a smile, but this kind of joke made Charlotte even more unhappy. This woman better not try any tricks.

"Hello, Ms. Harris. I'll be in charge of today's shoot." She extended her hand generously, her voice revealing nothing unusual.

Charlotte smiled back. "Thank you for your help."

With the makeup artist's help, Charlotte got dressed and walked out of the dressing room, holding up her long dress. Coming toward her was Zara, also dressed elegantly.

This photo shoot was a collaboration with Zara. Back at the Wilson Group, she was already quite arrogant. Now, even though she'd changed companies, her arrogance hadn't diminished at all. Yesterday's commercial shoot went until late at night because of her lack of cooperation—she'd already experienced Zara's diva behavior. And here she was with that same arrogant attitude.

"Did you sleep with Mr. Taylor?" Zara said this as soon as she saw her.

Charlotte smiled slightly. "What do you mean?"

"Elegant Jewelry is an international brand. With your status, do you think you can endorse the Taylor family's products? You two were so close at the restaurant yesterday. These photos came out nice." She waved the photos in her hand.

Charlotte smiled sweetly. "Elegant Jewelry is an international brand. With your status, do you think you can endorse the Taylor family's products either? You must have slept with their executives! These photos did come out nice—clear pixels, intimate poses. I have contact info for some pretty good magazines. If we publish them, Mr. Taylor will be famous!"

"I think you'd be more famous than Mr. Taylor." Zara handed the photos to her agent.

"A few days ago, you and a male model were pretty passionate in an alley. Young people these days are so open it's shocking. Thanks for giving me and some colleagues a free live show. I was careless and took a few photos. I don't mind adding yours after my scandal comes out on TV. You'll be famous too!" Charlotte knew this woman was trouble. According to Elsa, she'd extorted money from many colleagues using this method. Disgusting!

She even dared to threaten her. This woman was truly money-crazy.

Zara froze, then her face flared with anger. "I didn't! You're framing me!"

Charlotte shrugged. "Of course I know you didn't, because I just made up that lie. Making a few fake intimate photos isn't difficult these days."

"Charlotte, what do you want?" Zara looked at her defiantly.

"I should be asking you what you want! I don't care who you extort with this method, but do you think you can get money from me? That you've lasted this long in this industry with your attitude is impressive. If my photos get out, your scandalous photos will be made too. Think carefully." Charlotte put on a bright smile and walked toward everyone else.

Zara was furious. She'd wanted to use this method to threaten Charlotte into helping with something. Looks like that wasn't going to work now.

The work was successfully completed after three hours. Sophia watched from the side the whole time without saying much, which Charlotte found hard to understand. When did she become so straightforward? Strange.

"There's a press conference the day after tomorrow. I hope Ms. Harris can arrive at the company early. I'm very satisfied with today's shoot. Thank you for your hard work." Sophia was very gracious.

Charlotte smiled warmly too. "I'll definitely arrive early the day after tomorrow. Thank you for your hard work today too."

Charlotte and Amelia left under Zara's gaze, and then a cold, angry smile appeared at the corner of her mouth.

Just as they were about to get in the car and leave, a somewhat hoarse voice came from behind. She turned to see Ophelia walking toward her.

After five years, she seemed quite different. Her once beautiful long hair was now shoulder-length, and her black women's suit made her look serious and deep. Her former charm and sexiness had been covered by a strong businesswoman's powerful presence, bringing an imposing force wherever she went.

"Charlotte, you came to my company and you're just going to leave without seeing me?" she asked coldly.

Charlotte gave her a big hug. "Long time no see, Ophelia."

Both laughed. The cold expression on her face had changed back to her former warm smile, her inner excitement beyond words.

Time really flew. It had been so many years.

The two chatted in the car for a while before Ophelia pulled out a wedding invitation and put it in her hand. Charlotte froze. "You're getting married?"

She nodded. "I'm not young anymore. It's time."

"This Valentin Dobbins... do you want to think about it more carefully?" She didn't know how to say it.

It wasn't that she was biased against the groom, but this was a man almost sixty years old. Although he was rich, he wasn't a good person. He was widowed, divorced twice, had children around Ophelia's age, and had been in prison several times for molesting young girls. He had plenty of negative news.
