Chapter 148: Ian Is Her Boyfriend

Chapter 148: Ian Is Her Boyfriend

Because Ian left without explanation, and with what everyone had just witnessed, people already assumed Charlotte had that kind of relationship with him. So Dean and Griffin kept speculating on the side. Although Alexander still had his usual expressionless face, his fist under the table was unconsciously clenching tighter and tighter - a movement he himself wasn't even aware of.

When Charlotte came back from the restroom after touching up her makeup, she saw the three men in that corner. She paused for a second, then walked toward them in her high heels.

"Director Dean, Mr. Griffin Wilson, Mr. Alexander Wilson, you're all still here this late!" She was somewhat surprised - what a coincidence!

And she knew Alexander generally didn't like hanging out with a bunch of people having fun. Why would he be here today? This was truly unexpected.

"Long time no see, you've really changed." Griffin said, looking Charlotte up and down with the same playboy expression from five years ago.

Charlotte smiled slightly, "People change. You've changed quite a bit too."

"How have these years been for you?" he asked, his gaze somewhat meaningful.

Charlotte nodded, "Pretty good." She looked around again but still didn't see Ian. Where did he go?

"Ian went out to take a call," Dean said, feeling somewhat uncomfortable.

After all, he had just been saying he wanted to pursue Charlotte, and suddenly discovering she had a boyfriend made him feel a bit embarrassed. But that her boyfriend was Ian - probably no one here would have guessed that. After all, everyone knew about her relationship with Sophia. This relationship was indeed... somewhat complicated.

"How did you and Ian meet?" Besides being interested in beautiful women, Griffin was also very interested in gossip, especially when it involved Charlotte.

Charlotte didn't think in that direction at all. Assuming he was asking about work, she said, "We met through work."

Griffin and Dean exchanged glances, suddenly understanding - she was confirming their relationship.

At this moment, Ian walked over. Seeing Charlotte's still slightly red eyes, he asked, "Are you okay now?"

"I'm fine now, all good."

"Would you guys like to join us? The more people, the merrier," Ian kindly invited.

"No, no, we're heading back. You two enjoy," Dean said and prepared to leave.

Charlotte tried to persuade them to stay a few times, but they still left. Watching them leave, Charlotte felt confused - with Griffin's love of joining in the fun, this wasn't his style at all.

The two of them had a very pleasant dinner. Perhaps because of Charlotte's natural and unpretentious manner and their good conversation, Ian's favorable impression of her increased considerably. Both felt they had met too late.

By the time they finished dinner, it was almost 2 AM. Ian politely drove Charlotte home. Outside, it was pouring rain, and Ian thoughtfully bought her an umbrella.

"Thank you, Mr. Taylor. You can drop me off here." Charlotte didn't want him to drive into the residential area.

Ian nodded understandingly, "Alright, here's to a pleasant cooperation."

"To a pleasant cooperation."

Charlotte got out with the umbrella and watched Ian's car drive away before turning toward the nearby residential area. Under the streetlights in the pouring rain, that slender figure looked lonely and desolate.

A gust of wind made her shiver. It had been sunny this afternoon, and now it was pouring at night - the weather was really abnormal.

The restaurant at the entrance to the residential area had closed early, probably because of the heavy rain and lack of customers. The rain had soaked Charlotte's legs. Though a bit cold, it felt comfortable.

A cold body suddenly hugged her from behind. Charlotte's heart jumped, and she struggled desperately. What was going on?

"Don't move." A cold voice came from behind.

Charlotte's heart trembled. Alexander!

She turned her face and sure enough, it was Alexander. The heavy rain had soaked them both through. Charlotte's clothes were already thin and tight, and from Alexander's angle, she looked extremely tempting.

His hands held her waist tightly, his head resting on her shoulder. Rain was still pouring from the sky as the two stood motionless under the bright streetlight.

"Mr. Wilson, can you let go?" Charlotte's face was beyond dark.

"Just a little longer," he said flatly, his voice without any warmth.

Charlotte didn't know where she got such strength, but she pried his hands open and turned to look at him coldly. "Mr. Wilson, you're drunk. Go home early!" The smell of alcohol on him was overwhelming - he must have drunk quite a bit.

Alexander reached out and pulled her back forcefully as she was about to leave. Charlotte crashed straight into his arms, and just as she looked up, his lips pressed down, followed by an overwhelming kiss.

Charlotte tried to push him away but couldn't budge him. In frustration, she bit his lip.

The faint taste of blood came, and he finally let her go, wiping his lips. "You bit me?"

Charlotte frantically wiped her mouth and said coldly, "Mr. Wilson, please show some self-respect. If there's a next time, I won't rule out calling the police."

"What, got a new love and forgot the old one?"

Charlotte laughed disdainfully. "Mr. Wilson is overestimating himself. What kind of old love are you? At most, you're just a passerby in my life. Unless it's work-related, please don't come harassing me, Mr. Wilson. You have your life, I have mine. I don't want that scandal to happen again."

"The Marlowe incident was your doing, wasn't it?" he asked flatly.

"Of course." She didn't deny it.

"Why did you do that?"

Charlotte shrugged. "If she hadn't offended me first, I wouldn't have done that. I was just giving her a taste of her own medicine. I'm good to people who are good to me. Why should I be tolerant of people who are bad to me?"

"You've changed," he said flatly.

The rain had messed up his hair, but he was still very handsome.

Charlotte smiled. "Who says otherwise? People always have to go through some things before they learn to grow."

"Mr. Wilson, go home early. Goodbye." She finished speaking, picked up the umbrella at her feet, and walked away.

Suddenly she heard a sound behind her - Alexander had collapsed. Charlotte quickly ran back.

"Mr. Wilson, Mr. Wilson, wake up."

Still no response.

She touched his forehead - it was so hot that Charlotte quickly pulled her hand back. So hot.

She looked around but didn't see his car. Her own car was with Elsa, who had used it to take Kevin and hadn't brought it back. She wanted to call someone, then suddenly remembered what Henry had said this afternoon. After thinking about it, she helped Alexander back home.

Ethan looked at the unconscious Alexander and frowned. "Why did you bring your ex-husband home?"

"He fainted. I couldn't just leave him to die. Stop talking nonsense and quickly get some hot water." Charlotte helped him into the bedroom. Alexander was tall and thin, but unexpectedly heavy - he almost crushed her.

Ethan helplessly brought in a basin. Looking at Alexander on the bed, his expression wasn't good.

"Take off his clothes. With a cold and fever, he might actually die." Charlotte said to him.

Ethan's mouth twitched. "He's not my dad. Why should I undress him? It's not like you haven't seen his body before. You do it yourself."

"You..." How could he be like this? After thinking, she said, "Go to bed early. You need to get up early for school tomorrow, okay?"

Ethan nodded and left the room. This Alexander had some nerve, actually coming to his house. Annoying.

Charlotte closed her eyes and undressed him, covered him with a blanket, put a wet towel on his forehead, then took his clothes to throw in the washing machine. But the brand was expensive, so she had to wash and dry them by hand. She felt she must have owed Alexander something in her past life - otherwise, why would things still be like this after divorce? How tragic!

Ethan, watching through the door crack for a while, couldn't help but sigh. Why put herself through this?

When Alexander woke up the next day, his head still hurt. He looked around, his gaze finally stopping on the beaming poster on the screen opposite the bed. He froze. Charlotte?

He looked around again, his gaze returning to the poster. So this really was Charlotte's home. How did he get here? And he wasn't wearing any clothes. Could it be...

He shook his head. He couldn't remember what happened yesterday.

Charlotte walked in with his clothes. Seeing he was awake, she tossed them to him and asked flatly, "Has your temperature gone down?"

Temperature gone down? He had a fever yesterday?

"Get dressed and leave quickly. I have work in a bit." She finished speaking and closed the door.

Alexander grabbed the clothes and put them on. The clothes still carried a faint scent of fabric softener - fresh and comfortable.

As soon as he came out of the bedroom, Charlotte issued an eviction order. "It's getting late, you should go."

"It's still early. I'll wash my face before leaving." He finished speaking and went into the bathroom.

Charlotte knocked on the door, saying flatly, "Can't you wash at your own home? I'm busy and need to leave now." The key thing was that Amelia would be coming to pick her up soon, and she definitely wouldn't be happy seeing this man.

Alexander looked around. This house wasn't big but not small either, warmly decorated. It seemed she was doing well. His eyes fell on the cups in front of him, and his brow furrowed unhappily. Two toothbrushes - whose was the other one?

He grabbed a toothbrush and quickly opened the door. "Whose toothbrush is this?"

Charlotte swallowed. Oh no, she forgot to hide Ethan's toothbrush. She had hidden everything else but missed this.

"Elsa's," she said, glancing at him casually.

"You think Elsa would use this kind of toothbrush?" This was clearly an electric toothbrush designed for men, and black at that.

Charlotte thought for a moment - wait, why should he be asking so many questions? Whose toothbrush it was, why did she need to explain it to him? He wasn't anyone to her, so why should he care so much? Why did she feel like this scene was like being caught cheating by a husband?
