Chapter 52

“Why risk your Godhood then work for the fucker who caused this shit in the first place?” Tagronoth was completely and thoroughly confused. “You admitted to being a spy, and you killed Belinda because your Master asked you too. Why do all that for your master if she is the one who had her cursed in the first place?” He asked, hoping for an explanation.
“I never lied, I am a spy, but I would have killed that bitch even without being ordered to. I just would have waited until I was satisfied with the amount of torture she had endured.” Saggun stated.
“We will agree about Belinda and move on,” Sal said.
“Now, please explain about the other part.” Manny demanded, as he was also curious about Saggun’s reasoning.
“When I learned who it was who cursed Emily originally, I decided to take revenge for all the misery they had put her through.”
“By becoming her errand boy?”
“How else was I supposed to work my way up and become their most trusted and loyal operative?”
“And have you succeeded in being the one they trust the most?”
“Of course. They think all the other people who used to work for them retired to a new realm or betrayed them.”
“Did these people actually retire or even actually betray them?”
“No.”
“Then where are they?”
“Dead.”
“How have they not figured it out yet?” Emily asked.
“Really? I am a shapeshifter, I can take the form of anyone and everyone, and you wonder how she has not figured it out?”
Emily threw a book at his head. “I mean, how do they not know it is you pretending to be them, you asshole.”
“You call me an asshole, yet you threw a book at my head. Why did we become soulmates again?” Saggun asked himself that last part.
“Because you did not want to marry a stranger.”
“Yeah, that sounds about right.” Saggun said, “But to answer your question, you see it is very simple. I became ‘friends’ with their other workers, slowly learning all their habits and secrets. The ones that were innocent of being a part of your curse were left alone, and we actually did become friends of sorts. The others, however, let their guard down around me, and ended up dead. When they wanted these people for certain assignments, I would shift into their form, talk, walk, and work just as they had. Over time, I showed up less and less in these forms, which led them to believe that these people finally had enough of the demon realm, or met with a terrible accident.”
“What about their families? Don't they notice anything?” Emily asked.
“They had a visit from me and believed that their family member had been sent for work in another realm for an undefined amount of time. Usually they end up in an unfortunate accident, so the family then quits looking for them.”
“So, after killing all these people, you are the most trusted because you have done what they wanted and are basically the only one who has stuck around with leaving or getting killed?”
“Essentially.”
“How long have you been their favorite?” Manny asked.
“About 18 years.”
“I thought you wanted revenge. Why do you still work for them after 18 years?” Sal asked.
“Because I did not know where Emily was,” Saggun started to explain. “A few years after I became their favorite, I learned about what happened to Emily. However, no matter how much I searched for her, I could not find her. I even found the lady that was responsible for giving Emily to those shitheads, but she had lost track of them. I took my anger out on her and ended her. Of course, my master never brought it up, and if I did, then she would have known something was up because I should not know about her to begin with. So, I have been waiting until I knew where Emily was.”
“So now that I am safe, what are you planning on doing and when?”
“The first step to getting revenge is by getting both of your boyfriends' heads out of their asses.”
“What are you talking about now?”
“How many reincarnations have you had with Emily?”
“10.” Sal answered.
“In all those years, not counting the years in between each reincarnation, did you not find out who was truly behind her curse, or why? Who the hell do you think I work for?”
“From what you said earlier, I am assuming some woman in their family,” Tagronoth stated.
"Correct."
“Now, would you like to take a guess as to which woman in the family is responsible?”
“Well, it obviously can't be the queen,” Emily answered. "So that narrows it down by one."
“Why do you think that?” Saggun asked.
“Because she is dead.”
Saggun looked at her, his face full of confusion, as well as the faces of Manny, Sal and Tagronoth.
“Isn't she?”
