“I got a random question for you, Saggun?” Emily said, diverting his attention from his food momentarily.
“Don’t you always.” He said under his breath, while taking another bite.
“What was that?”
“I feel like I should be worried.”
“Why?”
“Nevermind. What were you going to ask?”
Emily waited until he took a swallow of drink before asking, “Have you ever had an orgasm from taking a shit?”
Saggun spit his drink all over Tagronoth’s face, who happened to be sitting across from him.
“Was it something I said?” Emily asked innocently.
“Sorry dear,” he said to Tagronoth, then looked at Emily and asked, “What the fuck is wrong with you?”
“What?”
Manny had fallen to the floor laughing and Sal was trying to catch his breath from laughing so hard. Tagronoth was trying his best to get rid of sweet tea that was all over his face and clothes.
“Did somebody spike your drink? Are you high?”
“Not that I know of. Why?”
“Why would you ask that while I am eating? Actually, why would you ask that in general?”
“When your exit is used as an entrance, it feels really, *really* good. So why wouldn't it feel good when something is coming out?”
“There ain't anything turning me on while I am ground-hogging.” Saggun looked at her curiously for a second. “Are you asking from experience?”
“Maybe. Or maybe I was just curious about you.”
“Couldn't you have waited until I was done eating?”
“Where would be the fun in that?”
“I blame you two for this.” He said, looking at Sal and Manny, “This is all your fault. Get your woman.”
“She was your man first. You cannot put all the blame on us.” Manny said after he was able to calm down.
“Ehh?” Emily said, “What you talkin' 'bout Cletus?”
“First of all, if you are going to quote movies, then make sure they are quoted correctly.” Sal stated, “And secondly, we know that Saggun was and is your missing soulmate and lover.”
“Who said it was him?” Emily asked.
“I did.” Saggun answered. “I have known from the moment that Tagronoth mentioned their soulmate, that it was you.”
“Then why did you not say anything?”
“You had no idea who I was, that much was clear. So I waited until you mentioned something.”
“When did you die?” Emily asked him.
She looked back on all her memories and knew that in her first mortal life she had no memories of her time as a God. When she had died she was supposed to go back to the heavens. And she would have if it were not for the curse placed upon her. So, unless Saggun had died at one point, he should not remember anything. And that thought alone made something ache within her.
“I haven't died yet.”
“So you are still a God?”
“No.”
“Then how do you have your memories?”
“As you know, your soul was the first to get sent into the wheel of reincarnation.”
“Yeah.”
“Before I was sent, Miniatalpia stopped me. She told me that when Gods are reborn they never have any memory of their Godhood, too many obvious reasons to list. That our plans to be born within weeks of each other might not happen, but the final choice was up to me. She knew what you had done with their souls, and told me that there would be consequences for doing that. She said she would have warned you beforehand of those consequences herself, but she had never met anyone bold enough to request such a thing. So she did not see your fortune until after you entered reincarnation.”
“I get that, but what does that have to do with you and your memories?”
“She said that both your soulmate's family would betray and curse you," Saggun explained, "that there was no way to prevent this tragedy. Due to the curse, you will live multiple lifetimes, until it is finally broken. However, she would make sure I was born in the lifetime before it was destined to be broken. I would be born with no memories, and would be raised as a proper demon. That the moment you were reborn into this life, my memories would be unlocked. I might not be able to stop the pain that you are destined to feel. But I could stop the unnecessary pain, but in doing so risk a chance of reascending. Or I could live a normal life with no memories and be guaranteed to regain my Godhood.”
“You IDIOT!” Emily yelled, “Why the HELL would you risk your Godhood for something I did? It was MY choice to do this. Even if I had no memories at the time, it was MY burden to bear.”
“Because you were and still are my soulmate. Besides, I know you would do the same for me.”
