Chapter 53 - Anger
Susan's POV.
I wondered who the hell saved someone's name with initials. I stared at her phone for seconds while the person on the other side continued
“Hello..”
I had no idea who that was, and how the hell hadn't she said a thing? My head flashed to the exact name Calli and Jason had called in the room before now…'Fiona'.
I never knew what to me when I incidentally whispered into the phone.
“Fiona?”
Just as I did that the call was cut and from her end, Isabel turned to see me with her cell and no one could believe how she ran toward me.
“Oh sister, thank you so much, was it ringing? I totally forgot about that.”
She acted like the both of us had some sort of agreement on me giving her when it did ring minutes ago.
“Yeah, it did but just once.”
“And what did you do after that?”
“Well,, I picked and I…”
“What?” She never allowed me to come to conclusions before cutting me short.
Her expression says it all anyway, I don't need a priest or seer to tell me she hid something from me, from us all.
“Is there a situation over there?” Devan asked as he had waited for Isabel to get back to him.
“Oh no my dear, we were just having a little girl-to-girl talk.” She responded with a smile.
Such a fool, she thinks I would be one of them, you can't imagine the feeling, being so exposed by your stupidity. Yes, that's how I felt, I felt so disappointed in her that after all this she actually hid something from us. So the Fiona saga from Jason whom Calli and I tonight of being a myth was actually real. I needed to see both of them soon to break this out. This was a very awesome welcome development.
“Please sister, whenever you see my cell ring, hand it over to me, understand?”
“Isabel I just want to tell the person you were with the Alpha…”
“...shh, please, I am not trying to say you were wrong or did evil In any way, I prefer it that way, it's my private property, alright?”
“Okay Luna, I've heard, I'll make sure to bring the phone right to you whenever someone else calls.”
She smiled at me and tapped me twice on my cheeks softly, before heading back to the Alpha.
'Now I think I know whom we're dealing with, Fiona, who is Fiona and what did Jason say about her the other day?’
Just then I realized someone was calling on me from the walkway.
“Susan,” It was Demgbe, one of the guards.
He ran towards me with a sac in his hands.
“I was asked to deliver this to you.”
“By whom?”
“By the…” Just as he was about to complete it, my eyes were now fixated on Christopher who sat alone and thought at the love garden beside the second building.
“Isn't that Christopher?” I asked not hoping to get an answer from Demgbe but he did respond.
“Yes, it is,”
“I didn't request your answers.”
“Sorry Alpha princess.”
“I guess the bag is filled with the Jewelry I ordered?”
“Yes Miss, it is.”
“Alright, keep it, I'll get back to you, or wait, give them to Margaret or Helene, either of them, they'll keep it in my room.”
“Alright Ma'am”
I walked slowly to his point in an attempt to console him. Gladys had done it again anyway. She killed his Nephew, Kouvou, still a young fellow who was recruited into the DarkVille werewolf Army. She did that when she escaped last night.
“Chris?” He didn't reply but had his hands on his jaw staring right in front.
I was moved to walk closer and sat beside him.
“Christo come on talk to me, you don't have to be this way, I heard what happened.”
“Susan, you have no idea how long I have nurtured that boy into becoming a man. I literally swore to his mother, my sister on the same bed before she died that I would watch over him.
I carried him when he was little and had him trained. I sent him to school with the money I made, my own money, the salary I got from serving as Beta, and all my jobs I split into two, I made sure I did nothing but bring him up.
Susan the very day he got enrolled into the DarkVille Guard I was there, I was his signatory, and I was his voice, ordinarily, he looks smaller than expected but my personality and position in the pack and DarkVille as a whole made it happen.”
“Calm down Christo, calm down, I know how you feel, you feel rage and bitterness.”
“Ohh, don't get me wrong you don't know how I feel. I would make sure the next time I set my eyes on that witch, Gladys, I would tear her into pieces regardless of the circumstance.”
“Chris you have to learn to control your emotions, Gladys isn't just an ordinary witch, she's a very dangerous one and could harm anyone who comes her way or path, you have to be careful.”
“I hope you aren't trying to stop me from going after her myself or maybe trying to talk me out of reaping the head off on sight?”
“No, absolutely not, I was just trying to tell you how concerned I am about you, you need to be careful Chris, that's the summary of all this.”
We both sat quietly for a while before continuing.
“But, come to think of it, Gladys bypassed two security personnel and ran off just like that through the last, how come? Is that even possible?”
“That's what everyone has been talking about since today the rumors are clear, someone helped the witch escape from the dungeon.” He turned to me now.
“Please don't tell me you don't agree with me on that.”
“I do, like who wouldn't think of it, and guess what? The Alpha himself is in conjunction with your theory.”
“Good, at least when the governing council had that as a matter at hand and the Alpha's involved, it would have a better ending as the traitor would be fished out in no time.”
“But Christo who do you think that would be because from the reports I got this morning, Devan is convinced someone from within helped her escape and that person isn't just an inhabitant of the citadel, it is a member of the governing council who is suspected to have done that.”
He kept a close stare at the menservants and maidservants who walked to and from afar off.
“I don't care to know who it is, but all I do know for certain is, I am going to have an oath with the moon goddess, Gladys and anyone associated with the death of my Nephew and her escape would pay, and they'll pay with their lives, they'll pay with death.”
