Chapter 54 - P. Sydalg
Susan's POV.
It was a cold morning and I was almost late for the train station. I needed to go on a three-day vacation at my uncle's In Ivory Town. I would have loved Christo to drive me down there but he had taken Devan and Isabel out so I called on one of my loyalists, Demgbe.
“Hey, Anita,” I called on one of the maidservants who passed.
“Yes, Miss.”
“Have you seen Demgbe today?”
“Um…yes, he was over there with Tony a while ago.”
“Could you go and call him? I need to be at the train station in less than 30 minutes so I'll catch up with the train.”
“Alright madam.”
“Hey! Watch it! Who are you calling madam?”
What is the actual f*ck? Madam?
I hated it when he addressed me as such. I am just a young lady in her mid-twenties and yet they fail to understand that.
I waited for her to call Demgbe and just then my mobile phone rang. It was from Callister.
“Hello Babe, what's up?”
“Calli I don't have much time to be on the phone because I'll be heading out soon.”
“Hm, you seem bothered, any news on her?”
“I think Jason was right, maybe she knows who Fiona is.”
“What? Don't tell me you also fell for all those myth shit he told you.” I imagined how her face would be right now and it also made me laugh.
“Calli, earlier yesterday I was with her, and she forgot she dropped her phone close to me, she walked towards Devan who called, and just then the phone rang. I picked it up to tell the Caller was busy and…”
“You what?”
“Picked up the call”
“Susan…how long must I teach you before you get it right? You aren't to make such moves next time.”
Calli sounded so worried and bitter.
“But Calli I only wanted to inform the person she was busy and…”
“Susan! Listen to yourself, you aren't supposed to pick up the call, you have to have a look at the caller's name!”
“Yeah, But I did, I think I took a picture with my phone.”
“Hmm, Good. Send it to me on WhatsApp as soon as possible.”
“Alright, I'll do that too, but I think I recall seeing something like Sydalg.”
“What? Sydalg? Is that even a name?”
“I have no idea, all I do know is it started with a P and blah blah blah Sydalg.”
“The voice you heard from the other side of the phone, was it made by a female, like when you picked up the call.?”
“Yes, of course, and I called on her, ‘Fiona’ and then she had the call ended.”
“Just like that?”
“Yes, I'm telling you.”
“Hmm, it looks suspicious indeed, I think we have to do something pretty fast about it.”
“Absolutely.”
“And one more thing Susan.”
“You'll have to cut all your major relationship ties between you and her.”
“What? Why?”
“Because she probably knows.”
“No, I don't think she does, before everyone she sees me as…”.
“... Sister, isn't it, that's how she sees you as, like a sister, friend, new besties? Susan that act you showcased before her has almost spoiled everything because from yesterday henceforth she sees you as SUSAN. Who knows, maybe she was trying to play along all these while just like us. I just want you to know one thing: stand sure, whether she knows or not, we must make sure to find out who Fiona or Sydalg is before it's too late, understood?”
“Alright my dear friend, it's not a problem, I'll do just that.”
“Alright dear, be careful, that family may be on fire soon, just watch it, I'll write to you on WhatsApp later in the day when you get to Ivory Town, don't forget to call me”.
I felt her smile even from the other side of the phone.
Demgbe was just walking slowly down to my point as I ended the call.
“Look here, see? It's been more than a minute since I was on call with a friend and you had been inside of your silly…”
“...Miss I was just trying to…” I didn't let him complete his statement, I was surprised he dared to cut me short.
“Shut your mouth right now you fool! How dare you talk back at me?”
He kept calm and snapped off the cigarettes in his hands.
Demgbe was a very handsome late twenties Black American, characterized by his pink lips and brown eyes with the dress. Code looking so magnificent.``
“I Want you to stay clear of cigarettes whenever you would want to have me driven down to any part of this city and mind you, you all smoke like refracts here?
My brother would assuredly put a stop to all that and trust me when I say, you all don't need to work for us here in this mansion, as you can see there are lots of people who are interested in working in this place, some from home but from the nearby states around, I know of two men who have been applying since, maybe a year now, but my brother prefers younger men just like you all serving here.”
I checked my wrist watch and the time was almost spent admonishing the fool.
“Would you take me out of this place you prick!” I ordered and he bowed his head.
I entered the vehicle while he drove slowly without any complaint, he was the most loyal to me and never talked, or each time I sent him on errands. I sometimes give him his flowers but never stop addressing issues that seem critical.
While he drove me to the bus station I thought of the whole thing which happened previously, from the Gladys saga and her mysterious escape, and also the young men who died so far on her arrival and after her arrival. She killed to get into the citadel and now she's out, she took lives again. No, she must be punished.
Who the hell is P. Sydalg.?”
