Chapter 87 - Rejecting My Contracted Luna
Ethan's POV
Alpha Thomas and I are escorted out of the hospital with our heads hung in shame, like two kids that just got sent to the principal's office. As we exit the hospital Alpha Thomas immediately perks up. "So, where are we going now?"
"We aren't going anywhere," I hiss at him. "I am going to visit my son."
Alpha Thomas continues to be chatty as we walk across the street to the Paxton Pack house.
"What is your issue?" I spit at him just as we enter the pack house.
"Just trying to make conversation," Alpha Thomas shrugs his shoulders.
I shake my head in disbelief. Could this man really be this stupid? "Pardon me, Alpha," I approach him in a formal tone. "But haven't we tried to kill each other more than once today?"
"That doesn't mean we can't be friends," he beams at me.
"You have got to be kidding me," I laugh at him. "As long as you are here we can't be friends."
Alpha Thomas looks at me with a confused look on his face and I groan loudly as I run my hand down my face. This idiot really has no clue why I don't want to be friendly with him.
"You want what is mine," I tell him. "We can't be friends."
"I wasn't aware that Emma was property," humor is laced in his voice.
"She is mine," I growl at him but he doesn't seem to mind.
I try to storm off but, apparently, there is no shaking this guy. "Can I ask you a question?" He pants as he jogs to keep up with my pace.
"Will it get rid of you?" I can't help stop the hopefulness in my voice.
"Actually," Thomas says as he puts a hand on my shoulder stopping my fast gait. "Perhaps."
"By all means then," I gesture a hand out in front of me.
"Why are you not affected by her blood?" Thomas can barely look me in the eyes when he asks the question. "Just a whiff of her blood sends my wolf into a frenzy. It is almost like I have bloodlust. But... but you... you don't seem phased at all."
I can see the guilt in Alpha Thomas's eyes. But I don't know how to answer him. "I don't know." I tell him the truth. "When I first met her it used to hit me pretty hard. But later when she would get hurt I just had an overwhelming urge to take care of her. The urge to protect her is stronger than the bloodlust the scent of her blood sends me into."
"Huh," Thomas grunts. "I wouldn't be surprised if she was your mate."
I have to admit that I am stunned by his words. It never had occurred to me that this could be the reason that I am basically immune to her blood. Even after being apart for three years I can still resist the scent of her blood. Thomas is still chatting away from beside me as I think about the prospect of being Emma's mate.
Ignoring him I walk through the pack house to look for my son. I peek into the kitchen but only the Omegas are in there at the moment. I begin to make my way up to his bedroom when the sound of his giggles begins echoing through the hallways. A huge smile spreads across my face when I hear him. Following the sound of his laughter, I find Ezra in the movie room with Daniel and Christina. They are watching some movie about a kid and dragon, Ezra seems really invested and doesn't notice me walk in.
Christina lifts her head from Daniel's shoulder and motions for me to come into the room. I come into the room and flop down on the couch beside Ezra. The force from my bounce causes Ezra to fly into the air. Ezra bounces off his side of the couch and lands on the floor with a thud. Daniel begins to laugh immediately and I shoot him a deadly stare. I take in a sharp breath waiting for Ezra to start crying but he hops up from the floor and tackles me on the couch.
I let him push me backwards and we fall on the floor together. His eyes light up when he notices that it is me but that does not stop his assault. He lands little punches all over my torso until he accidently knees me right in the balls. A loud groan leaves my chest as I curl up into a ball on the couch and cradle my balls.
"Efan!" Ezra screams loudly. "Efan, I missed you."
"I missed you too, buddy," I say through gritted teeth.
Wrapping his tiny arms around my neck, Ezra squeezes as hard as he can. "Are you back to be my daddy?"
I freeze up a little bit at his question. Emma promised that she would tell him the truth after the Full Moon Ball. I guess she has been too busy with Alpha Weirdo to uphold the promise that she made to me. Ezra is looking at me with his bright blue eyes awaiting my answer.
Cradling him in my arms I tickle his tummy and he squeals with laughter. "I am here to see you," I tell him as I avoid his question.
Ezra squirms out of my arms and puts his little hands on his hips and glares at me. "You didn't answer me."
I pull Ezra to me and place a kiss on the top of his head. He wraps his arms around me and lets out a little sigh. "You are too smart for your own good."
"You have to be my Daddy," Ezra cries. "I don't like Uncle Tommy, he tried to hurt Mommy."
"I heard," I let out a little growl. "I also heard you kicked his butt."
Ezra giggles loudly. "I did!" He squeals.
"Come on, Tough Guy," I ruffle his hair. "I bet your Mommy would love to see you."
