Chapter 252 FINDING STRENGTH
Percival
I just could not help myself. I had not even felt his punches. I was just filled with this insane anger.
He rubbed his arm across his face, a bit puzzled as the blood mixed into his jet-black hair. He looked totally shocked. “What was that, dude?”
Pushing myself off the ground, I could definitely feel that broken rib, but I brushed it off. My gaze lingered on him for a moment. “Don’t ever bring her up again,” I said through gritted teeth, my voice steadying.
I was calmer now. As calm as a wild wolf like me could be.
A slow smirk crept across his battered face. “I think we found your trigger.” He winked, brushing off his broken cheekbone as he strolled away, leaving me to watch him go.
As I caught up to him, I felt that broken bone with every step I took while jogging, especially as the others bounced on top of it.
I thought it was pretty cool.
Call me whatever you want, but that pain actually made me feel something instead of just being numb. It brought me to life. “What do you mean by trigger?” I asked, curious.
He shot me a quick look, standing a couple of inches shorter than me. His snake-like eyes sized me up while he leaned down to pick up our water bottles from where we had kicked things off.
“Your trigger, huh? The thing that gets you all riled up. For you, it is your mate. Same for me... your mom. Now, go ahead and use it. Make the most of it. I won’t lie; I was pretty surprised, but you really caught me off guard, kid.” He shook his head, took a sip of his water with his busted lips, and let the cold liquid wash over his face, cleaning off the blood.
I started to like the look of blood now.
He gave a little smirk that seemed a bit off; his cheek had dropped slightly because of the broken bone underneath. He noticed me checking out his puffy face and raised an eyebrow at me.
“You do not look any better, chief. Just tone it down a bit.” Another smirk.
I could not help but touch my face, feeling the sting on my eye, lip, and cheek. But everything was fine.
Just brushing it off, it felt like another typical day out on the field.
But this time, I totally caught him by surprise. I had really caught him off guard. That was something, for sure. Sounds good to me!
“Hey, it is about time to head back. We do not want anyone spotting you out here. We definitely do not need any more guys getting hurt today, and they are all on their way for training.” He looked at my blank stare and chuckled. “You are getting there, kiddo.”
An idea popped into my head, but I did not feel ready yet. I was just not there. But I guess I was up for a challenge or two.
The crisp autumn morning air gave me goosebumps on my bare chest as I strolled back through the woods. We both kept quiet. I just did not see the point in small talk anymore. He got it and was on board—a chill wolf to hang out with. Let’s skip the formalities.
It has been a couple of months since he showed up. Two months, just like that.
My human side has grown so strong that my wolf does not take over completely in my mind or body anymore. Still, my wolf is just as strong as he was a couple of months ago. Finally, my skin is looking pretty good now.
It is all about boosting testosterone levels.
Daisy and Doc broke it down for me. They explained that my wolf had absorbed strength from my human side. If I got stronger, both in mind and body, I would totally soak up that strength from my wolf. It gave me this vibe of being on top.
But what they did not tell me—what they did not know—was what Gaspar understood. I thought it was totally possible for my wolf to hold onto that strength while my human side became just as tough, if not tougher.
And that is exactly what happened.
Gaspar had gone through a similar journey when his girlfriend turned him down for not being strong enough for her family.
That woman was my mom. Gaspar was her real soulmate, the moon in her life.
After she turned him down, he got a bit down on himself. But then he turned himself into the guy he is now—really intense and dedicated.
He has been training me like crazy for two months straight. I have totally broken through the barrier. He thought it would take longer, but I surprised him.
My skin feels super tough now. Super capable. In just two months, I have changed a ton. My body feels different. I am noticing muscles popping up in spots I did not even know existed. My arms are thicker now.
I am getting more muscular from all the weight training Gaspar has me doing. I have a ripped torso from countless hours of sit-ups and pulling fallen trees with ropes tied to me. It is the tough stuff that no one else can handle. My legs and thighs are solid, and my back is getting bigger. I am pretty much at a point where I am stronger than my dad now. So close.
For sure, my body is definitely stronger now. But my mind is strong too. Thanks to Daisy and Doc, I have managed to connect with my feelings and come to grips with everything that has gone down since Tatiana. Ever since she got pregnant.
My wolf has been super possessive over his pup and mate, but now I understand how those two things just could not work together. He has gone a bit wild without his buddy around, which is why he snapped so often before Gaspar showed up. Totally.
I have figured him out now. We still think about Edeline; she is always on our minds, along with her wolf. I really want her here. It would be good for both me and my wolf. But now we have a lot more to think about. Our Alpha blood has us craving even more power and all the good stuff. It looks like I am back in the driver’s seat again—definitely not him.
