Chapter 112
Mr William stared at the phone and sighed. He had never gotten a chance to work with Shanaya, but had always heard of her since they were young. Now facing her daughter, he wondered whether she was the same.
He immediately contacted someone to call Declan to his office. If he wasn’t there in fifteen minutes, he should be picked up.
Scarlet returned the phone to Shane only after memorizing the number cause she knew that in the future, she won’t be able to contact the man. When facing him, she had both hatred and affection towards him, which bothered her deeply. She wanted to investigate everything that had happened years back.
Shane glanced at her, sneered, then took his phone. He didn’t say anything about memorizing the number cause he understood that if she wanted it, she could get it the same way he had it.
“Please forgive me,” Daniel said pleadingly as he knelt, but Scarlet just stared at him coldly.
“If you want to continue staying here and working for the family, then you should know that betrayal and hiding secrets won’t be allowed. As soon as it is discovered, you will be dealt with,” Scarlet said to the others, as she knew that Liam needed all the help he could get.
“Miss, I have something to say,” one of them said as he glanced at Scarlet fearfully. When he realized that even the family heir listened to Scarlet, he knew that as long as she said a word to get rid of them, it would be carried out effectively. He wanted to come clean to her now so that if it was known in the future, he won’t be an accomplice.
“Go on,” Scarlet said after seeing the murderous look Daniel was giving the man.
Daniel and Declan are brothers. Daniel had always lived with his grandmother back in the village. After her death, the Singh showed up wanting to recruit orphans, cause most of the villagers didn’t know the truth, they suggested Daniel,” the man said, shocking everyone.
“So you mean that he is a mole hidden by the Williams?” Arthur asked with a cold and angry expression. They had kept their boundary from that family, but it seemed that they had long eyed their family.
“No. After the second time we went to look at the oil mines, the two met. Cause they looked identical and had the same surname, Daniel approached Declan. He suggested that since he was the team leader, he could use the team to look for mines, and he would contact his brother to leap. In return, he asked the man that after everything was over, he would request the family to take him back,” the man explained.
“And how did you know this?” Scarlet asked as she wasn’t naïve enough to believe everything she was told.
“My late brother told me. He had heard them talking on that day and went to threaten Daniel. On our way back, we were ambushed, but he was the only one who died. I had been left behind to take care of the body; he had feigned his death at that time. He told me the truth and told me to be careful of the man. Those were his last words before he died,” the man explained, and Daniel stared at him in disbelief.
He had long suspected the latter knew something cause he never agreed to any of his suggestions. However, as if he knew that he might lose his life if he went with them, he rarely accompanied them, and he couldn’t get rid of him from the school premises.
Scarlet stared at the man.
“He rarely goes with us when we go out,” one of the men mumbled as he realized why the man never followed them.
Scarlet glanced at the man, then the other who had spoken, and sighed. She understood why he wasn’t among the people in her previous life.
“Thank you. Everything will be investigated. Brother, get someone to interrogate Daniel and his assistant,” Scarlet said before walking away, as she didn’t want to stay there anymore. “However, we need everything in thirty minutes.” She smirked.
She had told Mr Williams to meet at the Singh mansion. She knew that her grandparents wouldn’t let her come in contact with the man, so instead of making them terrified that they might even refuse her to leave for Country A, why not do everything in their presence?
“Can we now go to choose your own people?” Shane asked as he followed her.
Scarlet halted, turned to look at her brother, and nodded. In front of the man, Scarlet always felt that she couldn’t hide anything, but among the brothers, she felt closer to him, especially after knowing his identity, and he was her mother’s first child. People could say that the others were adopted, but Shane, it was like he was her biological child.
‘Biological child?’ The thought stunned her, and she stared at the man, trying to find her mother’s face in him.
How absurd, her mother was only eighteen years old when she took him home. Could she have been pregnant when she was seventeen? But why didn’t anyone know of it?
Shane frowned when he saw how she was staring at him. “What’s wrong?”
“You look like mother,” she said, stunning Shane.
“What nonsense are you speaking?” he rebuked her coldly, though he was inwardly in turmoil. So he wasn’t the only one who saw the resemblance, huh? However, despite it, he never wanted to investigate anything. Shanaya was his mother, biologically or not. Maybe it was because he had been with him since one month old, so the heavens pitied the mother and son and let him carry some resemblance?
Scarlet chuckled. “Relax. Anyways, brother, you'd better choose perfect people for me. I am tired,” she said as she yawned, making Shane knock her forehead softly twice.
“What is in your head, huh? You want an empire but are too lazy to take care of it?” he asked, but in surprise, Scarlet nodded her head, amusing him.
“Isn’t it better to have someone manage it, and I will be the boss behind the scenes?” Scarlet asked with a cheeky smile on her face.
“I won’t need to wake up so early to go to the office, and can only go to the office when there is an important meeting. Brother, I know you are jealous of me,” Scarlet said, taunting Shane as she stuck out her tongue.
Shane looked at her dotingly while Sophia shook her head helplessly. She knew that, though the young lady stated that, she would always go to the company. With the poverty they had lived in the last years, Scarlet won’t be comfortable till she sees everything is going in the direction she wants.
Cate stared at the siblings with a faint smile on her face. She liked the young lady so much.
They first went to choose Cate’s teams who could deal with the gemstone mines.
“Your family isn’t in jewel designs only?” Scarlet asked when they walked into the jewel mining building.
“Country Z is rich in minerals and gemstones. There is mostly an event twice a year where jewel companies worldwide go there for the auction of gemstones. There are a lot of gemstone mines. It isn’t a surprise her family deals in it as they won’t need to buy the gemstones,” Sophia answered, and Scarlet nodded in understanding.
She already knew what Country Z was rich in, but she never thought that her sister-in-law’s family was in it. ‘Why did I forget that they are the richest family there?’ she asked herself when she recalled that detail.
“Hawthornes, have you been there?” she asked Cate, stunning everyone who turned their gazes to them.
“Yes, it is known as the only place that isn’t rich in gemstones. There is vegetation there instead,” Cate replied, and Scarlet snorted.
“Buy that land. Remember to give me my share,” she stated before walking away. She was family, so what was wrong with helping her out a bit?
“Excuse me?” Cate asked.
“You don’t place on taking over your family business?” Scarlet asked as she halted and stared at Cate.
“No. We already discussed it with your brother. To work with them but grow here,” Cate replied.
“Then get them to buy that land, or we can buy, but they manage it. We can take eighty, and they take twenty. I am helping you to convince the shareholders to work with you,” Scarlet stated.
Shane stared at her, then looked at his wife. “Do as she says. I will provide the money; you don’t have to worry about it,” he said.
“But…” Cate started, but Shane just stared at her coldly.
“We can choose to support another family that will be providing us with the gemstones,” he said coldly, and the latter nodded reluctantly, agreeing to his words.
“I will talk to them in the afternoon. We have a meeting,” Cate said, and Shane hummed.
“Have you chosen who you want?” Sophia asked after a while.
“Scar, can you choose for me?” Cate asked. She didn’t know why, but she felt that the people whom her sister-in-law chose were meant for greatness.
“Arthur, can we choose three instead of one?” Scarlet asked after staring at Cate and asked the man who had just walked in.
