Chapter 239: Scheming in the Dark

Chapter 239: Scheming in the Dark

Ivan's POV

After sending Helena a message, I closed my phone and lay quietly on the bed.

I acted impulsively at Natasha's wedding today. I shouldn't have used such a clumsy trick specifically to target Atlas. Helena probably didn't notice, right?

She definitely didn't notice.

But even if she did , I have reasons to brush it off. Still, after all these little schemes I've pulled, seeing that they haven't had any effect on Helena and Atlas, I'm getting anxious.

Thinking of this, I suddenly remembered Nancy from the airport last time. It's time for her to make her move.

Even if Helena does figure it out later, I have plenty of reasons to make her believe that Atlas betrayed her.

Compared to Helena, this Atlas makes me feel more threatened. If I want to successfully get the Lockwood Group, I need to turn Helena and Atlas against each other!

The next morning, when I arrived at the company, I noticed all my colleagues looking at me strangely—their curiosity mixed with a hint of admiration.

"Ivan, what are you doing here?"

York greeted me warmly when he saw me. He was my first friend at the company. Although I know he might be Helena's person, but that doesn't matter to me anymore.

"I was too bored at the hospital, so I came to see if there's anything I could do."

Hearing this, York quickly pulled out a chair for me. "But you're still a patient. Are you sure you can handle this?"

"I can manage," I said, nodding." Just need to be careful not to aggravate the injury."

Hearing me say this, York nodded. "Alright then."

"Does Ms. Lockwood know you're at the company? I saw her in her office. Maybe you should go say hello."

"Really? Then I should go see her."

I stood up and walked toward Helena's office. York trailed behind, chattering away. "How are you doing? Should I come with you?"

I waved him off. "I just injured my arm, not my legs. I'm fine—go do your thing."

York hesitated, then stopped. "If you need anything, just say so."

"I know. Got it."

I knocked on Helena's office door.

"Come in!"

Hearing the response, I opened the door and walked in. Helena looked up from her computer. "Ivan, you came to work?"

She stood up and gestured me to sit. "Didn't I tell you to rest at home? Why are you here?"

"I'm fine. I was bored at home anyway—might as well come to the company."

Helena nodded at my reply. "That's fine, but don't rush into work. Your health comes first."

I agreed. "Okay, Helena. I'll keep working hard and make sure to close more deals."

"Sounds good."

Helena seemed pleased at my words. "You've done so much for the company these past few days. Everyone sees your hard work. But you're still recovering, so be careful not to overdo it."

"I'll be careful."

I stood and prepared to leave, noting nothing unusual on her face.

After leaving, I knew it was time to put my plan into action.

"I want to go out for a bit. Want to come?"

York perked up at my words and quickly stood up. "Sure, let's go together."

He grabbed his phone and followed me to the elevator.

Going out to check the market was just an excuse, but I had to keep up appearances. After spending the day going around, it was finally time to get off work, and York and I parted ways.

I didn't go home. Instead, I headed to a bar. In a dimly lit private room, Knox was already waiting.

The moment he saw me, he pushed away the woman leaning against him and slowly poured me a drink, sliding it across the table.

"Want a drink?"

I said nothing, just cast a glance at the woman beside him. "Isn't this too much?"

"What are you talking about? It's just for show."

Knox waved his hand dismissively, and as the woman left, I couldn't contain my anger anymore. I swept the glass off the table, shattering it on the floor.

"Knox, how can you face my sister doing this?"

Knox remained expressionless as he watched my anger flare. "Just having some fun. Don't worry, this won't reach your sister's ears. Now tell me, what's so urgent that you needed to meet?"

At the mention of business, I had to swallow my anger.

Once I get the Lockwood Group, I'll deal with this bastard!

Thinking this, I said coldly, "The time is right. We can make our move."

"Make our move now?"

Knox frowned, not entirely convinced. "Isn't this too hasty?"

"Don't forget about Atlas standing behind Helena. He's not easy to deal with."

"Don't worry. By tomorrow, I'll have Atlas in deep trouble and make them fall apart."

Knox became interested. "So you've already figured out a way? Can you tell me what you're planning?"

I shook my head. "Not yet. Just wait and watch tomorrow's news."

Seeing how confident I was, Knox smiled. "Alright, if you don't want to say, fine. I'll wait. As long as you deal with Atlas on your end, I'll make my move immediately."

Having said what needed to be said, I stood up and stared at him coldly. "Don't mess with Helena anymore."

Knox sneered. "I really don't know whose side you're on. Why are you suddenly concerned about Helena?"

"I just don't want complications," I replied evenly. "Remember what I said. We want the company, don't waste energy on useless people and things."

Noticing my anger, Knox said carelessly, "Fine, fine, I'll listen to you. But let's be clear—once we get the Lockwood Group, we split it fifty-fifty."

What an appetite. That's the Lockwood family's business. Whether he can actually swallow half remains to be seen!

I said coldly, "I know. Now go home. You're newly married—don't keep my sister waiting."

I turned and walked away.

When I got home, the phone rang. It was the person I'd sent to follow Atlas.

"We've confirmed it," the voice said. "Mr. Lancaster will be staying at the Regal Gardens Hotel for the next few days for of a conference. We've also found his room number."

"Good work. Keep watching, and don't get discovered."

The person agreed and hung up.

After the call ended, I searched through my contacts and dialed Nancy's number.

She's the most important person in this whole operation. I can't do without her.
