Chapter 100
Benjamin couldn't hold back and said it out.
Right after saying it, he felt a bit regretful and buried his face in her shoulder.
Evelyn froze for a moment, then realized he knew something.
She hadn't planned to hide anything, so why did she suddenly feel like she'd been caught cheating?
Especially when his arm around her waist kept tightening, and a cold aura radiated from him.
Yet his lips kept kissing her neck—not in a sexual way, but more like a clingy puppy.
Was he feeling wronged?
"Are you jealous?"
She reached out to hold him, gently stroking his head. "It was the restaurant's food that was good, nothing to do with the person. I was thinking at the time that I definitely wanted to go there with you. How about it?"
Go to the restaurant she went to with Eugene?
Benjamin didn't want to, but didn't want to refuse either, so he could only mumble a vague response.
Feeling his arm tighten again, Evelyn sighed silently to herself.
Benjamin was clearly blessed by heaven, yet he always acted so humble in front of her, afraid she would leave.
She must have saved the galaxy in her past life to meet him in this one.
"Eugene was the one who reached out to me, and he told me some things."
"What things?"
"He said the White family is pressuring you to break off our engagement. Otherwise, they'll change their will."
"Do you mind if I become poor?"
He looked up at her, his eyes showing some unease.
Without giving her a chance to speak, he continued.
"Trust me, I will never let you live a hard life. Even without the White family, I won't let you suffer."
Benjamin's abilities were beyond question.
But losing the White family's protection would change many things.
"I don't want you to suffer either," she wrapped her arms around his neck and said softly, "After this performance ends, let me go with you to Silverlight City."
"What?"
"Come to think of it, it's been several years since I met anyone from the White family. As your fiancée, I should visit them."
He didn't agree; his brows furrowed tightly, showing he wasn't happy with this suggestion.
But she smiled and reached out to smooth his forehead.
"Afraid I'll be bullied? I'm not afraid. With you protecting me, who would be stupid enough to bully me?"
Evelyn's smile was bright, her expression charming—everything about her was captivating.
"I'll protect you." His forehead pressed against hers as he unconsciously kissed her lips again.
Over and over.
"Mr. White," a knock sounded, and Pearl's voice came through, "Dinner is ready."
"Okay."
Nearly half a minute passed before his hoarse voice responded, his slightly rough thumb rubbing against her slightly swollen lips.
"Pearl said you didn't eat much tonight. Keep me company for a bit."
"No," she pouted, acting spoiled, "I have to go on stage, so naturally I need to be in perfect shape. How can I have any extra weight? You go eat by yourself."
"It's just one meal, how is that so dramatic?"
Thinking of the photo where she was eating with Eugene, looking so content, made him uncomfortable.
Matthew was one thing, but now some college classmate of hers had popped up and also ranked ahead of him?
Sensing his displeasure, she quickly tried to soothe him.
"This is for you, too! I'm the principal dancer you personally selected—how can I embarrass you?"
"I want everyone to know that the beautiful dancer is Mr. White's fiancée!"
She laughed as she spoke, as if already seeing everyone surrounding her with praise.
Seeing her happy expression, no matter how much dissatisfaction he had, he could only suppress it.
His woman—he could only dote on her.
Study.
"You're still not sleeping?" Evelyn didn't knock and walked right in, her lips pouting with some dissatisfaction.
Benjamin looked up and saw her, his eyes softening.
"What's wrong?"
He beckoned to her.
After thinking for a few seconds, she walked over, sat in his lap, and wrapped her arms around his neck.
"Are you very busy? Is it the White family?"
"It's nothing."
He pinched her cheek with a calm expression. "If you're tired, go sleep by yourself first. I still have some things to handle here."
"I want to keep you company."
She couldn't help with his work, but she could at least be with him.
Benjamin frowned and pinched her soft cheek. "Who said you need beauty sleep every day? Otherwise, your skin will get worse."
"I do want my beauty sleep, but you're not sleeping. If you come in later and wake me up, it'll be hard for me to fall back asleep."
Her complaining voice sounded especially sweet to his ears.
He chuckled softly, his chest vibrating.
"Then I'll sleep in the guest room."
"How can that work?" Meeting his teasing eyes, she huffed softly. "Who knows if you'll sneak out in the middle of the night to find someone else."
"Maybe I will—after all, I'm a normal man."
How did they suddenly get to this topic?
She hadn't overcome her psychological barriers yet. Right now, she could be intimate with him, but couldn't go further...
This problem needed to be solved.
Love could overcome all obstacles, but this was also part of their relationship.
An incompatible sex life would eventually become a hidden danger between them and allow others to take advantage.
"I..." She thought of that packet of medicine, her face flushing. "After the performance ends, on the night of the celebration party, okay?"
Her soft, sweet voice carried a woman's unique shyness and an invitation?
For a few seconds, Benjamin almost suspected he was hearing things. "Evelyn, do you know what you're saying?"
It had taken all her courage to say it—did they really need to discuss this further?
She pushed against him, wanting to get up and leave, but he pulled her deeper into his embrace.
His warm breath fell on her ear, along with his obviously excited voice.
"I'll be looking forward to it."
Evelyn's face turned red as she hid in his arms. She understood this couldn't be delayed—she had to take action soon.
...
Dance studio.
Evelyn's fundamentals were very solid. While the extremely difficult moves couldn't compare to professional standards, she was outstanding among amateurs.
Her graceful dance steps amazed everyone and made Freya extremely jealous.
Gregory led the applause. "With Ms. Thomas joining us this time, our dance company will definitely reach new heights."
He walked up to Evelyn with a smile. "Ms. Thomas, I'm about to book plane tickets for the company. Will you be traveling with everyone?"
"Sure." Evelyn never liked special treatment.
Plus, Benjamin hadn't given any special instructions, so traveling with everyone would provide mutual support.
Just as Gregory had decided, Freya's delicate voice rang out.
"Gregory, I won't be traveling with everyone."
Noticing everyone looking at her, her face showed unease, as if she'd been startled, not knowing where to put her hands.
"My brother is worried about me traveling alone and wants to go with me, so I won't be going with the group."
Brother?
Soren had died long ago—where did Freya get a brother?
Benjamin?
Not just Evelyn, but everyone in the dance company thought of this possibility. Their eyes swept back and forth between Evelyn and Freya with different implications.
